The Housing Authority of the City of Alameda (AHA) is seeking an exceptional, process-orientated professional to serve as the Director of Administration and Services. This is a fast-paced agency that seeks to meet the mission through a high level of accountability and transparency.

AHA is particularly interested in applications from candidates with a strong track record in a variety of administrative, coordinative, analytical, and liaison capacities relevant to the job responsibilities. Successful performance of the work requires knowledge of public policy, housing policy and programs, Housing Authority functions and activities, and the ability to develop, oversee, and implement projects and programs in a variety of areas. The successful candidate will also be team-oriented with the ability to coordinate and collaborate with a variety of internal stakeholders to move activities and projects forward.

Due to the diverse and public facing nature of the responsibilities in this department, candidates must have excellent planning, tracking and project management skills and be customer-oriented in their approach. Significant relevant supervisory experience is required. The department is currently budgeted for 10 staff.

The Director level position will report to Executive Director or other Director. The Director of Administration and Services provides assistance to the Executive Director and the Authority in a variety of regulatory, analytical, and supervisory capacities.

*Note: Candidates may also be considered at the Assistant Director of Administration and Services level, depending on experience and qualification. Only candidates with significant, relevant experience and supervision experience will be considered for the Director of Administration and Services level.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Facilities & Equipment Superintendent, this position performs all types of concrete work at District facilities as required.  May perform other duties as assigned within the Streets and Grounds Department, thus, will include working with the Laborers and Bridge Carpenter.

VTA’s Engineering and Program Delivery (EPD) Division is seeking a Senior Transportation Engineer for the Quality Assurance (QA) Group under the Technical Services Department.  

Quality Assurance Group: 
The QA Group supports all capital improvement programs for the Division during planning, design, procurement, construction and closeout phases of highway, rail, transit and facilities projects.  As a Senior Transportation Engineer, you will play an important role in ensuring delivery of quality products and services for the Division. It is the responsibility of the QA Group to ensure the development of each project’s Contract-specific Quality Management Plan (CQMP) and to conduct audits and surveillances, based on the approved CQMPs, to monitor and assure effective implementation. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with VTA staff, consultants and contractors, attention to detail and ability to lead the QA team with day-to-day activities are desirable skill sets.

Under direction, to have charge of varied and difficult engineering work involving the supervision of a professional transportation engineering staff engaged in a variety of activities, such as the planning and design of transportation systems and facilities, the operation of transit systems, special studies or services, and other transportation projects.

Typical Tasks

• Supervises and directs projects in connection with the planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation of transportation systems including fixed guideways, highway transit, bicycle, airport, and other facilities;
• Supervises the design function, structural analyses and field surveys;
• Makes traffic engineering studies;
• Conducts transit planning and supervises the scheduling of transit operations;
• Supervises the preparation specifications and related documents used in advertising transportation projects for bids;
• Coordinates technical information exchanges with officials of other governmental jurisdictions, other transportation specialists and the public;
• Coordinates with utilities and land and water companies in matters of relocation and rights-of-ways;
• Coordinates legal assistance in the preparation of resolutions, agreements and other legal documents;

Minimum Qualifications:

Employment Standards
Training and experience equivalent to graduation from college with major work in engineering and five years professional engineering experience on transportation systems or projects, including assignments which provided the opportunity to demonstrate supervisory abilities.

Registration as a professional engineer in the State of California in a field related to transportation engineering at the time of appointment.

Summary:
Under general supervision, performs a variety of custodial tasks and provides oversight of rental groups, in accordance with District policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist patrons and prospective participants on the phone and in-person
• Assist permit groups with set-up and breakdown of tables, chairs, and other equipment
• Promptly open and unlock facilities or close and secure facilities as scheduled
• Complete facility condition forms following permit group use and incident reports as needed
• Notify management concerning need for major repairs or additions
• Turn athletic field lights off and on for sports groups
• Sell and scan admission tickets special events and/or theater performances

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• Sweep floors, vacuum carpets, and dust or polish furniture, fixtures, and equipment
• Wash windows, clean restrooms, replenish supplies, and sanitize high touch areas often
• Empty waste receptacles and remove any trash or debris found throughout facility
• May assist with conducting recreation classes

Education and Experience:

Recreation Specialist II Example Duties:

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Collaborate with Recreation staff to Plan and lead developmentally appropriate activities for children ages 5–12
• Provide professional guidance and support to Recreation Specialist I staff
• Assist with behavior management using positive youth development practices
• Support daily program routines, including sign-in/sign-out procedures and transitions
• Supervise participants during activities, swim days, and field trips

GENERAL INFO

Under general supervision, the Service Desk staff provides essential support to the San Bruno RAC by performing front desk operations, assisting members and visitors, and supporting daily facility functions. This temporary, part-time position requires working up to 20 hours per week. The role involves delivering excellent customer service, processing memberships and program registrations, handling payments, and providing information about facility programs and policies. Service Desk staff may also perform facility attendant duties and assist with other tasks as assigned to ensure the smooth operation, safety, and cleanliness of the facility.

UNIVERSAL POSITION DUTIES (Illustrative purposes only)

• Provide friendly and professional customer service to members, participants, and visitors.
• Assist with front desk operations, program registration, and payments.
• Supervise and engage participants in recreational programs, camps, and activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
