POLICE OFFICER - Academy Graduate - $8,419 to $11,416 per month (up to $13,128 with incentives)

Police Officers can serve in patrol, traffic, investigations, and K-9 assignments. EDUCATION:

Academy Graduates (no sworn experience) - High school diploma and a minimum of 45 units of college-level course work, in addition to graduation from a P.O.S.T. basic academy.

Academy Graduate candidates with an honorable discharge may be credited with up to 15 semester units for a minimum of 3 years of active duty in the U.S. Armed Services (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard).

DEFINITION
Under general direction, performs complex and responsible technical and clerical work for the Director of Human Resources and as administrative support to the City's Human Resources Department. Completes related work as required.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
An incumbent in this position is a Human Resources generalist performing a wide range of personnel assignments in administering and processing health and welfare benefits; managing the administrative duties associated with the Personnel Board and overseeing the preparation and management of all employee requisition and action forms; managing the office and providing administrative support to the Director of Human Resources, Assistant to the Director of Human Resources, Senior Management Analyst, the Human Resources Analyst(s) and Human Resources Specialist(s).

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Including but not limited to maintaining frequent, sensitive and critical contacts with public and private agencies, other departments, professionals and officials; transmits information, decisions and directives. Answers inquiries by phone or email; investigates and resolves complaints or provides information, explains departmental or City procedures; exercises judgment in giving information and proper disposition of problems; composes correspondence and prepares reports. Manages performance appraisal forms for distribution in accordance with established procedures. Serves as Assistant for the Personnel Board, other related meetings, and disciplinary and appeal hearings by collecting, preparing, and sending agendas, taking and transcribing minutes, and typing and distributing minutes and other material. Processes and manages distribution retiree health reimbursement checks. Administers Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Program, tracks employee driving records and issues quarterly department list of commercial drivers’ medical expirations. May assist in responding to internal and external surveys. May assist department personnel with data entry on applicant tracking program, proctoring Civil Service examinations, in administering certification of active Civil Service Employment Lists using applicant tracking program, and assists with City-wide events. Processes employee separations and cafeteria plan worksheets, enters employee information into ERP system, tracks employee trainings; and processes invoices.

Provides support to the Director of Human Resources, Assistant to the Director of Human Resources, Senior Management Analyst, Human Resources Analyst(s) and Human Resources Specialist(s). Administers the documentation requirements of the 1986 Immigration and Control Act. Prepares and processes required Human Resources’ forms, such as new employee forms and employee Action Forms. Assists with preparation and publication of the employee newsletter. Maintains and orders office supplies and other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

GENERAL INFO

Position Summary

This position demands a wide range of technical skills. Under the direction of the Communications Electronics Supervisor, this position provides technical support for the communications, access control, video and electronics control system in place throughout the District. The Communications Electronics Technician installs, maintains, test and repairs electronics communications system located at various District facilities from San Francisco to Santa Rosa. These include, but is not limited to, P25 trunked radio system, microwave equipment, video cameras and management system, access control system, programmable logic controllers, fiber optics and network communications equipment. The position is also involved in the installation and maintenance of communication and fiber optic cabling systems. 

Essential Responsibilities

• Installs and maintains the following: P25 trunked radio system, access control system, video management system, programmable logic controllers and associated controls, microwave equipment, public address systems, telephone lines and fiber optic cables
• Installs, tests, and maintains electronic and two-way radio equipment in Buses, Ferries, District vehicles and facilities, and radio sites
• Setups and services access control system, including card readers, electromechanical locks, gate controllers and associated software
• Installs and maintains video surveillance system, including cameras, servers and management software
• Installs and maintains different computer aided equipment such as radio dispatch consoles, access control monitoring, video management system, & distributed control system for PLC

About the Position

This temporary position will work directly with the Recreation Supervisor-Special Events, assisting with the coordination, management, and implementation of special events operated by the City of San Carlos. This position will work evenings and weekends as needed from May – September 2026.

SERVICE DESK LEAD (Illustrative purposes only)

• Greet patrons, answer and direct calls, and provide information on programs, rentals, schedules, rules, and policies. 
• Open/close the facility and monitor for safety, cleanliness, and proper use. 
• Check daily facility schedules and rental setup requirements.
• Use computer systems for data entry.
• Assist patrons with registration processing and POS transactions.
• Handle office tasks including mail distribution, shipments, and deliveries.
• Support office inventory management for supplies and equipment.
• Assist facility attendants and recreation programs as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 
 

Education and Experience 
 

• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
• Two years of customer service or service in the recreation industry experience required.

Skills and Abilities 
 

• Facility operations, customer service, basic event/program management, and safety practices.
• Ability to use custodial and operational equipment, communicate effectively, and work independently.

The City of Menlo Park is currently accepting applications to fill a Mechanic vacancy in the Fleet Services Section of the Public Works Department. A Mechanic performs diagnostic, maintenance and repair services on light and heavy city vehicles and equipment, such as automobiles, storm/sewer trucks, aerial bucket trucks, dump trucks shuttle buses, construction equipment, lawn mowers, small equipment and stationary generators; and performs other duties as assigned.

The Mechanic performs a range of skilled tasks requiring journey level or advanced journey-level class mechanical ability and aptitude. Work assignments are performed according to established rules and procedures. Independent judgment is required and is supported by supervisory review and direction.

Equipment Mechanic

This is the journey-level class in the Equipment Mechanic classification series responsible for performing the full range of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, gasoline and diesel repair and maintenance required for City vehicles, and equipment. Responsibilities include inspecting and attending to assigned areas in a timely manner, and performing a wide variety of tasks in the maintenance and repair of assigned vehicles and equipment. Incumbents are expected to work independently and exercise judgment and initiative. Positions at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. This class is distinguished from other maintenance class series in that it performs more highly skilled technical and mechanical maintenance activities. This class is distinguished from Senior Equipment Mechanic in that the latter leads, trains, and oversees assigned work and performs the more complex and difficult work in mechanical maintenance and repair of City vehicles and equipment.

Senior Equipment Mechanic

This is the advanced journey-level class in the equipment mechanic classification series performing the most complex duties required to ensure that City vehicles and equipment are maintained in a safe and effective working condition and provide the highest level of safety for City use, and providing lead direction and training to full-time and temporary staff. Incumbents regularly work on tasks that are varied and complex, requiring considerable discretion and independent judgment. Positions in this classification rely on experience and judgment to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the assigned section. The work involves problem-solving of unique issues or increasingly complex problems without precedent and/or structure. Assignments are given with general guidelines and incumbents are responsible for establishing objectives, timelines, and methods to deliver work products. Work is typically reviewed upon completion for soundness, appropriateness, and conformity to policy and requirements. This classification is distinguished from the Fleet Supervisor in that the latter has oversight of the entire fleet division, system- assignments and projects, and responsibility for organizing, assigning, supervising, and reviewing the work of assigned staff involved in maintenance operations.
