The City of Woodland Police Department is looking for lateral officer candidates who are currently employed as a California peace officer, have two years of experience and possess a California POST Basic Certificate or are have formerly been employed as a California peace officer, possess a California POST Basic Certificate and have not had more than a three-year break in service as a California Peace Officer. ABOUT THE POLICE DEPARTMENT

The Woodland Police Department is staffed with 72 sworn officers, 18 professional employees, and 8 part-time temporary professional employees. Our staffing is expected to expand in size as the City grows. The Department is managed by a Chief of Police, a Deputy Chief, 3 Lieutenants, 10 Sergeants, and a Police Records Supervisor. The Department has three Bureaus; Patrol, Investigations, and Community Relations. Police Officers are assigned to all Bureaus where they work in various capacities and teams.   Within the Bureaus are many specialty units including K-9, Traffic/Motors, School Resource Officers, Gang Task Force, Detectives, and Homeless Outreach Street Team.  There are a number of collateral duties available to officers including SWAT, Crisis Negotiations Team, Field Training Officer, Honor Guard, Arrest & Control Instructors, Firearms Instructors, Gang Resistance Education, and Training (G.R.E.A.T) instructors, Social Media Team, Recruitment, and Bicycle Patrol. THE POSITION: As potential Police Sergeants, candidates in these roles will shoulder significant responsibility overseeing law enforcement and patrol duties during designated shifts. Responsibilities extend beyond field supervision, including the enforcement of departmental rules, fostering discipline, resolving subordinate issues, and conducting team performance evaluations. This role requires collaboration with armed personnel, possibly in uniform or plain clothes, requiring a balance of field and office tasks. Regular public engagement, often in high-stress situations, is a key element, necessitating strong interpersonal skills and emotional resilience. The Engineering Manager will report to the Director, Bus Infrastructure and Capital Projects and will be responsible for the engineering functions of the infrastructure and capital project development department for the San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans). 

The Bus Infrastructure and Capital Projects Department oversees the delivery of major bus fleet and facilities infrastructure projects for SamTrans. The department’s projects include design and construction of zero emission infrastructure (battery electric bus (BEB) charging infrastructure and hydrogen fuel cell electric bus (FCEB) infrastructure) for SamTrans's revenue and non­revenue fleet of nearly 400 vehicles, sea level rise and flood mitigation structures, bus administration, transportation, and maintenance buildings, and other structures at SamTrans' North Base and South Base Maintenance Facilities.

• Oversee the development of standard plans and specifications that can be used for future SamTrans infrastructure projects.
• Oversees the development of a Design Quality Management Plan for SamTrans projects.

• Oversee management of the scope, schedule, budget, and quality of infrastructure projects from initiation leading into construction phase.

• Manage consultants with technical expertise across multiple disciplines in conducting independent technical reviews of SamTrans’ infrastructure projects.
• Coordinate and collaborate closely with SamTrans project stakeholders.
• Provide documents and briefs to Executive Management and the Board on the status, progress, and requirements of SamTrans infrastructure projects.
• Manage coordination, communications and expectations with project stakeholders, and internal cross-functional teams responsible for different aspects of planning, design, and engineering
• Provide direction and guidance to consultant staff responsible for managing infrastructure projects.
• Provide support for federal and state grant applications for funding of SamTrans infrastructure projects.
• Support development of contract solicitations.
• Investigate, evaluate, and resolve project issues.
• Identify root cause of issues. Determine and present appropriate solutions.
• Review cost estimates, monitor project schedules and budgets, and monitor work in progress.
• Coordinate the provision of capital project development and implementation services with other departments and divisions.  
• Act as subject matter expert of all technical and regulatory matters affecting bus facility and infrastructure projects.
• Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies during project implementation, and ensure compliance with their administrative guidelines.
• Represent SamTrans before the Board of Directors, city councils, and other state, federal, local, and regional agencies, boards, and before local citizens in public meetings and hearings as needed.
• Develop, negotiate, and monitor contracts and cooperative agreements with other governmental agencies, private consultants, and private contractors.
• Perform all job duties and responsibilities in a safe manner to protect one’s self, fellow employees, and the public from injury or harm.  Promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervision: Works under the general supervision of the Director, Infrastructure who establishes goals and objectives and evaluates performance.   

Facility and Sports Field Attendants work in the formal Suisun City classification of Recreation Specialist I. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 19 hours per week.

The Department: The Recreation, Parks and Marina Department is responsible for the operations and programs of the Suisun City Marina, the Senior Center and the Joseph A. Nelson Center, including preschool, after-school programs at various sites, recreation classes and sports leagues, community events and special event rentals.

What You’ll Do

The Permit Center Supervisor plans, organizes, supervises, coordinates and participates in the work of the Permit Center team assigned to assist customers with successfully interfacing with the City’s planning, building, development, and permit processes. The position also provides technical expertise in building and zoning code administration and the development review processes. Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Plan, organize, and supervise the work of staff engaged in building permit issuance, development application review, and plan check activities.
• Provide direct oversight of all permit functions including proper coordination of all applications received; manage timely and proper routing of all submittals.
• Ensure that permits for construction and associated fees are processed in a timely manner and in accordance with established procedures, the uniform codes, state laws, and local ordinances governing land use development.
• Select and recommend appointment of personnel, monitor employee performance objectives, prepare and present employee performance reviews; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; establish and communicate Permit Center priorities, goals, and objectives.
• Coordinate activities and development reviews with other City departments and divisions, and with outside agencies as determined necessary.
• Ensure proper input and maintenance of all statistical permit processing data.
• Assist with general updates, maintenance and enhancements related to the City’s permitting software.
• Evaluate operations and activities of assigned responsibilities; recommend improvements and modifications and establish policy and procedures; prepare various reports on operations and activities.

The Permit Center Supervisor receives general direction from the Deputy Building Official or higher level department personnel and exercises direct supervision over technical and support personnel.

The Management Analyst I under supervision, performs most of the duties required of the position but is not expected to function at the same skill level required of a level II.

The Department

The Community Services Department plays a key role in enhancing the community and ensuring the citizens of Fremont receive excellent customer service through the management of recreation facilities, quality recreation and environmental programs, and park planning.

The Position

The Park Ranger/Naturalist will provide information and assistance to the public, as well as enforce laws, rules, regulations, and the Fremont Municipal Code. The primary focus of the position will be to assist with implementing the initiatives of the Homeless Task Force. Additionally, the incumbent may conduct natural resource protection and environmental education programs.

Examples of Job Duties

• Work in prescribed uniform and is responsible for general patrol and supervision of City of Fremont’s parks, plazas and trails.
