Old Meadows Community Center - Therapeutic Recreation Unit- Serving youth, teens and young adults with physical and intellectual disabilities

Summary:
Under general supervision, coordinates, conducts and participates in the delivery of recreational program activities and executes day-to-day operations in assigned units according to established programs, schedules and standards; and performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Researches class ideas and structure and forecasts participation; organizes and implements various athletic, craft, social, cultural, instructional and community service programs.
• Instructs recreation classes to various age groups; modifies and adapts activities specific to specialized programs or populations; facilitates programming at onsite and offsite locations; provides pre- and post-event assistance.
• Develops interest, enthusiasm and fair play among participants; addresses challenging behaviors and follows proper channels to document contacts and results; recruits assistance and guidance from immediate supervisor when escalation is needed; reports all compliance issues per District standards.
• Establishes schedules; responds to general inquiries; assists with program registration; initiates payment and refund procedures.
• Oversees and supervises the use and care of equipment, supplies, materials and facilities; assists in initiating equipment procurement and maintenance; manages forms related to facilities and equipment use.
• Supervises special events, field trips and other group activities; ensures safety of environment and equipment for participants.
• May be assigned to camp programs.

Other Duties & Responsibilites:

• May be required to drive a District or personal vehicle.
• Applies behavior modification and appropriate social modeling techniques.
• May attend community events to promote recreational programs and events.
• May assist with transportation in specialized programs.
• Participates during disasters or when emergency response is needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfac­torily. Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skill and/or ability listed below is qualifying.

Education/Experience: 
A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: graduation from high school or GED program, and at least 1,500 hours of relevant work experience, with at least 30 units completed in recreation or a related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates must be at least 18 years old.

Language Ability:
Ability to communicate effectively in English in both written and oral form. Ability to write routine correspondence using correct spelling and grammar.

Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, fractions and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to use common sense and exercise good judgement in solving problems. Ability to establish effective relationships with fellow employees, volunteers, participants and parents/guardians.

Certificates and Licenses: 

• First Aid & CPR/AED within 90 days of employment with ability to maintain certifications thereafter as a condition of employment.
• Valid California driver’s license with a good driving record and current automobile insurance. For Therapeutics unit: ability to obtain a commercial driver license within one year of employment (for a 15-passenger van).
• Department of Justice fingerprint clearance.
• Proof of a negative TB skin test.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities. This position may direct the activities of contract workers and volunteer staff.

The Associate Fiscal Analyst plays a key role in developing and implementing the annual budget for California’s 58 trial courts. Responsibilities include: (1) gathering, verifying, and compiling court data to support budget creation, (2) processing payments for trial court reimbursement programs, and (3) preparing monthly distribution templates in the FI$Cal system to allocate operational funding. The Department of Public Works is accepting applications for the position of Public Works Technician I/II. Under general supervision, Public Works Technicians perform a variety of routine to journey level sub-professional technical, field, and office civil engineering work in a variety of technical areas.

The current vacant Public Works Technician I/II position is in the Road Operations - Permitting Section of the Road Services Division.

The Road Maintenance Division of County of San Mateo's Department of Public Works is responsible for routine and emergency repairs to over 315 miles of road surfaces, culverts, shoulders, drainage facilities, and roadside vegetation on roads within the public right-of-way of San Mateo County's unincorporated districts.

Public Works Technician I is the entry level class of this technical support series. Initially under close supervision, incumbents learn technical support and County procedures. As experience is gained, there is greater independence of action within established guidelines. This class is flexibly staffed with Public Works Technician II and incumbents are expected to advance to the higher level after gaining experience and demonstrating proficiency which meet the qualification of the higher-level class.

Public Works Technician II is the journey level class of this series, fully competent to independently perform a variety of responsible technical support duties. This class is distinguished from the Senior Engineering Aide class which is specialized in scope and technical functions.

The ideal candidate for this position has the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

• Familiarity and experience with permitting, plan review, or other technical clerical work
• Communicate effectively and work professionally with the public and co-workers. 
• Has field experience related to utility construction projects.

• II level: Two years' experience in providing technical support to a related public works field such as engineering, drafting, construction, surveying or related technical support field.

VTA's Technology Department is seeking an enthusiastic, team-player and customer-focused Senior Information Systems Analyst to join our team! This individual will provide Tier-3 technical assistance and leadership in helping establish a robust IT asset management and ticketing system to streamline the daily operations of a dynamic IT department.

What You’ll Be Doing
Definition
Under direction, the Senior Information Systems Analyst leads and participates in the work of staff responsible for providing technical and analytical support to VTA computer information systems and computer servers.

Distinguishing Characteristics
This is the advanced journey level in the Information Systems Analyst series.  Positions at this level are distinguished from other classes within the series by the level of responsibility assumed and the complexity of duties assigned. The Senior Information Systems Analyst performs project lead functions including assigning work, delegating assignments, and reviewing the work of others and keeping the supervisor updated.

Incumbents at this level perform the most difficult and responsible types of duties assigned to classes within this series including serving as a project lead over staff responsible for maintaining VTA's computer information systems and computer servers, researching and recommending new hardware and software components, and providing related support to the users.  Incumbents at this level are fully trained in all procedures related to assigned area of responsibility.

This class is distinguished from the higher-level classifications of Information Systems Supervisor and Technology Infrastructure Supervisor in that the supervisory classifications are responsible for full supervisory activities over a major section in the Technology Department.
 

Minimum Qualifications
Employment Standards
Sufficient training, education, and experience maintaining computer information systems and computer servers to demonstrate possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Development of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is typically obtained through a combination of training and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a four-year degree in computer science or a related field, and four (4) years of responsible experience performing technical and analytical tasks in support of computer information systems and computer servers. (Additional applicable experience with technical and analytical tasks in support of computer information systems and computer servers substitutes for college on a year for year basis.)

 

Knowledge of:

• Operational characteristics of computer information systems and computer servers;
• Methods and techniques for troubleshooting a variety of information systems operations and maintenance problems and concerns;

The Resident Services Coordinator conducts programming to support residents living in affordable housing communities through resource navigation, event and workshop planning, and stakeholder collaboration. Programs to facilitate or coordinate may include: food distribution events, coffee socials, budgeting workshop, walking groups, fall prevention classes, parenting classes, resident surveys, and others. Coordinators will also provide 1-on-1 assistance to residents to connect them to local resources and public benefits. 

A coordinator will provide services to 2 or more properties that house families, seniors, single adults, special needs, and/or permanent supportive housing residents.  

Work schedule 

SCCHA staff work on a 9/80 schedule. 80 hours of work are compressed in a 9-day period, with every other Friday as a day off.  Resident Service Coordinators will be onsite at the properties or at the office 4 days a week depending on the number of properties assigned. There is an option to work remotely on the working Fridays.

What Our Team Is Looking For:  

Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience likely to provide the required core competencies may be considered. A typical combination that is qualifying may include:  

• An associate degree in sociology, social work, business administration, public administration, career planning or related field; and 

• Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience administering or supporting the administration of resident services and/or community outreach programs in a government or non-profit agency.  

• Possession of a valid California Driver's License and satisfactory driving record at the time of appointment is required as a condition of initial and continued employment only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than the employee's ability to get to/from various work locations in a timely manner, is necessary to perform the essential functions of the position. 

The City of San Bruno Fire Department offers an exciting opportunity to serve as a Fire Cadet. Our one-year Fire Cadet program is an unpaid, volunteer work experience program that offers hands-on training, and introductory knowledge of firefighting skills, fire service tools and equipment. Cadets respond to emergency calls, render Basic Life Support and participate in training, and participate in the daily station duties.

Cadets must be willing to commit to 24-hour shifts, two to four times per month. The cadet program is one year in length. Upon completion, this program meets the manipulative training and experience requirements in obtaining a California State Fire Marshal’s Office Firefighter II certification.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• State of California EMT or National Registry EMT certification
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and a driving record with minimal violations
• Possession of a Firefighter I Academy certification (or proof of “student in good standing” letter signed by an Academy Instructor if currently enrolled)
• 18 years of age at the time of application

DEFINITION 
Perform technical building inspection work to enforce compliance with California State building, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, green building and energy codes; research new construction materials and methods; reviews plans for compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations; and provide information to and work with the public to resolve problems.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives direction from the Permit Center Supervisor under the guidance of the Chief Building Official.  This position does not exercise supervision of others.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Essential job duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Perform routine to complex building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, energy and accessibility inspections of new and existing commercial and residential structures. 
• Ensures construction conforms to CA state building codes, local ordinances, approved plans, calculations, and specifications.
• Review specifications, and architectural plans of buildings to be constructed, altered, or repaired.
• Process minor building permit applications and over-the counter plan checks and assist in the issuance of building permits and front counter coverage as needed.
• Check quality of materials and methods of construction; inspect existing buildings for hazardous conditions and/or structural integrity.  
• Confers with and advises contractors, owners, architects, engineers, and the general public regarding interpretation and application of building codes and other applicable laws, ordinances, and regulations.
• Assist other Town staff in the enforcement of zoning, grading, and planning issues.
• Utilize enterprise permit system to plot inspection routes, document inspection results, and maintain accurate records.   
• Prepare and maintain reports and records of plan checks completed, inspections made and/or actions taken.

QUALIFICATIONS 
Knowledge of:

• Knowledge of the California building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, energy, fire, accessibility, and housing codes, ordinances and laws, and related local, State, and Federal codes, laws, and regulations.
• General zoning and land use laws; general grading practices.
• Accepted safety standards, testing procedures and methods of construction.
• Principles and techniques of building inspection and plans examining work.
• Basic understanding of the plan checking process.  

Ability to:

• Analyze, interpret and accurately check building plans, specifications and building codes; draw valid, independent conclusions.
• Enforce codes with good judgment, impartiality and tact.
• Apply technical knowledge of building trades.
• Establish, maintain and foster positive and harmonious working relationships. 
• Communicate effectively orally and in writing, producing clear and complete correction notices and inspection reports. 
• Use an enterprise permitting system to map inspection routes, log inspection findings and process electronic permit applications.
• Stoop, climb, crawl, balance, maneuver, walk and stand for long periods of time; must possess the ability to lift up to 50lbs.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Any combination of education and experience that reasonably provides the necessary knowledge and skills may be considered qualifying.  A typical way to obtain knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience:
Two (2) years of experience as an entry-level combination-building inspector.  
Specialized training and hands-on experience in the building trades are desirable.

Education:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. An associate degree in construction technology, engineering, or closely related field is desirable.

LICENSE(S) AND CERTIFICATION(S)
Possession of a valid California State Driver’s License, or license in another state with the ability to obtain a California license within 30 days of hire. 
Minimum of two (2) IAPMO or ICC Certifications in building, plumbing, mechanical, or electrical.
A State Contractors License, or engineering degree may be substituted for IAPMO or ICC Certification with the ability to obtain an International Code Council (ICC) certification as a Building Inspector, Combination Inspector, or equivalent during first year of employment.

The Santa Clara County Housing Authority (SCCHA) is seeking a Risk Analyst to join our highly collaborative and dedicated team in advancing the Housing Authority’s risk management and insurance programs. We strive to create an environment where all team members can contribute to growth and innovation. 

The Risk Analyst will have the opportunity to expand their expertise in risk management, insurance programs, and property mitigation. They will also gain experience in policy development, analytical research, and strategic planning, providing a comprehensive approach to risk management. The Risk Analyst will evaluate, design, and coordinate SCCHA’s risk management efforts, including insurance programs, property and construction risk, and claims management programs. They will help evaluate, manage, and mitigate risks across all agency functions and departments, including physical property and residential real estate, information technology, human resources, capital improvement, and new construction projects. 

In the first year, the Risk Analyst will improve claims/incident report protocols, evaluate and enhance SCCHA’s existing risk management and insurance programs, including researching insurance options in the face of rising insurance costs, and administer SCCHA’s insurance policies and manage insurance-related claims and negotiations. 

The ideal candidate will have: 

• Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to insurance and risk management.
