Silicon Valley Power (SVP), the City of Santa Clara’s Electric Utility, is seeking two (2) skilled and customer-focused Information Technology Systems Specialists to support the utility’s end-user computing environment.

This position is part of SVP’s Systems Support Group (SSG) — the technology backbone of the utility — which provides reliable, high-quality technical support and systems management for SVP’s staff and operations. The Information Technology Systems Specialist plays a key role in help desk and deskside support operations, providing timely and effective technical assistance to end users. Summary: 
 Under general supervision, the Courier makes pickup and delivery of District inter-office mail, supplies, and equipment in accordance with District policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate a District vehicle to pick up and deliver items from all District facilities on a daily basis
• Pick up the daily deposit from community centers and ensure its safe delivery to accounting
• Move transportable equipment among district locations as requested
• Prepare outgoing mail, operate postage machine, and maintain records of postage used
• Maintain copy room supply inventory; submit office supply requisitions as needed
• Organize supplies and tidy copy room storage cabinets and workspaces

• Water: Be part of the division responsible for the operation and maintenance of the 16 reservoirs of water storage, 16 pump stations, 230 miles of water mains, 1,900 fire hydrants, and 17,200 water service connections

The City of Thousand Oaks is currently accepting applications to fill 3 part-time openings in the Public Works department: 2 in our Water division and 1 in our Wastewater division. Under supervision, the Public Works Utilities Aide (Hourly City Worker) will perform a variety of duties in support of Public Works staff.

Part-time work schedules are approximately 20-25 hour per week and may not exceed 1,000 hours in a fiscal year (July 1 – June 30).

Primary Responsibilities:

Responsibilities vary based on the division.

Water:
Assist with a variety of routine assignments and day-to-day tasks under the guidance of the Public Works utilities maintenance team, including:

• Fire hydrant maintenance
• Valve exercise program
• Air-Vac and blow-off maintenance
• Maintenance at the Municipal Service Center (MSC)'s pump station and reservoirs
• Inputting data into the MSC's work order system, MaintStar
• Meter reading, changing out meter registers and cellular endpoints, and moving to an AMI reading system

Wastewater:
Assist with a variety of routine assignments and day-to-day tasks under the guidance of the Public Works utilities maintenance team, including:

• Hydro cleaning maintenance
• CCTV inspections
• Canyon inspections
• Maintenance hole inspections
• Lift station maintenance
• Entering maintenance activity data into GIS, MaintStar, ArcGIS, and WinCan systems
