THE POSITION:
The Finance Department at the City of San Mateo has an opportunity for an entry level Accounting Assistant I to work in the Accounts Payable section. The Accounts Payable team manages the payment of invoices, expense reimbursements, and credit cards, among other things, for the City as a whole and is part of a team of 18 Finance employees. The Accounting Assistant I will work with the Senior Accounting Assistant to support 11 Departments as well as the San Mateo Consolidated Fire Department.

DEFINITION:
Under general direction, manages and directs the Accounting Division of the Finance Department, including the budget development process and preparation of the budget book; budget monitoring, analysis and reporting; short- and long-range fiscal forecasting; ensuring adherence to financial policies and procedures; and capital planning. The Accounting Manager trains and evaluates assigned staff.
CLASS CHARACTERISITICS:
The City of Menlo Park is recruiting for the exciting and challenging position of Management Analyst I/II. As a member of the Administrative Services team, the incumbent will serve as an experienced accounting and financial analyst for the City, with primary responsibility for maintaining, reconciling, and analyzing the City’s general ledger and related financial records. This position will provide financial analysis and reporting support while ensuring compliance with applicable governmental accounting standards and internal control requirements.
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Hours: 32 hours per week
Rate: $23.85 - $31.95, depending on experience
Under direct supervision of the Controller, provides accounting and fiscal support, including accounts payable, cash and accounts receivable receipts, invoices, and processes, records, reviews, and reconciles a variety of financial transactions and records for Peninsula Library System and its multiple contracted agencies.
