Applications are being accepted for the position of Public Works Maintenance Worker with the City of South San Francisco. This is a non-benefited, part-time/hourly position.

The Department 

The Public Works department is comprised of the Maintenance, Engineering and WQCP (Water Quality Control Plant) divisions. The Maintenance Division is responsible for all of the asphalt and concrete streets within the City as well as all of the associated signalized intersections, streetlights, road signs and traffic markings.  The division also maintains the sanitary sewer/storm system which includes all of the sanitary sewer lines, all of the storm lines and catch basins, several storm water pump stations, as well as various large storm water trash capture devices throughout the City.

THE POSITION

Under close to general supervision, this hourly position is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the downtown corridor, including the removal of litter, debris, and illegal dumping. Duties are primarily driven by SeeClickFix service requests and may include other related maintenance and cleaning tasks as assigned.
 

IDEAL CANDIDATE 

The ideal candidate will have experience with outdoor maintenance work and be familiar with basic tools, equipment, and safety practices related to cleaning and debris removal in public spaces. They will take pride in keeping high-visibility areas clean and welcoming, respond promptly to service requests (such as those submitted through SeeClickFix), and interact professionally with the public and City staff. The ideal candidate will be reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team, using sound judgment while following established safety procedures.

 

TYPICAL DUTIES (may include but are not limited to the following):

• Conduct daily cleaning and maintenance of the City’s downtown corridor, ensuring all public areas are free of litter and debris.
• Efficiently empty, clean and service all City owned trash receptacles, adhering to waste disposal and sanitation standards.
• Respond to requests for service in real time via smart device.
• Uses a variety of hand and power tools in connection with the above duties; operates light, motorized equipment, such as pick-ups, flatbeds, and dump trucks.
• Identify and report maintenance issues, safety hazards or vandalism during routine duties to appropriate City personnel.
• Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:

Experience: One year of experience in general construction or maintenance work.

Training: Equivalent to graduation from high school.

THE POSITION

The main job of a Library Page is putting books, DVDs, CDs, and magazines back on the shelves and preparing the library for opening and closing. The ability to quickly and accurately sort things alphabetically and numerically is required. This is an ideal job for someone who enjoys organizing and who can work quietly on their own.

Under supervision, sorts, shelves, straightens, relocates, and searches for library materials, re-orders and organizes materials as needed, provides basic directional information to patrons, performs basic circulation duties using computer software, performs physical tasks to support library programs and procedures, performs closing procedures, and does related work as required.

Sorts and shelves materials, assists at public service desks; inspects materials for wear and damage and does basic mending of same; keeps books and periodical shelves in order; assists in taking inventory of books; performs basic custodial tasks as needed.

San Mateo County Health's Aging and Disability Services Division is seeking qualified individuals for the unclassified and limited-term positions of In-Home Supportive Services Social Worker I/II/III. Social Workers provide a wide variety of welfare services in such areas as information and referral, protective services, out-of-home services, health related services, chore services, and other welfare services within the Health and the Human Services Agency.

 
Currently, there are three limited-term vacancies and an unclassified vacancy in the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Program. The program provides in-home care for persons who cannot safely remain in their own home without such assistance. The recipients of IHSS are aged, blind and/or disabled and eligible for Medi-Cal. Disabled and/or blind minor children may also be eligible for IHSS. The Social Worker will make a home visit to determine eligibility for the program and to conduct an assessment to determine a range of service hours for particular tasks. The IHSS recipient or guardian is the IHSS employer and is responsible for hiring and supervising a provider for the care they receive. The Social Worker will travel throughout the County to conduct home visits, attend meetings and perform other duties of the position. The Social Worker will work in the San Mateo, CA Aging and Disability Services Office.
 

This IHSS Social Worker will conduct intake and/or on-going activities for IHSS recipients. Some of those activities include:

• Conduct initial IHSS assessments using a detailed State assessment tool.
• Complete necessary documents, paperwork, and work within different information technology systems.
• Conduct annual reassessments.
• Educate, support, and perform administrative duties for IHSS recipients and care providers to understand/comply with program regulations.
• Provide education, outreach, and community resources information.
• Participate in quality improvement efforts.
• Collaborate with quality assurance and program integrity to ensure proper adherence to regulations.
• Prepare for and attend Fair Hearings.
• Engage in interdisciplinary team meetings or other activities to support San Mateo County's vision for integrated services.

Social Worker I: $7,162.13- $8,008.00/month

Social Workers provide highly skilled, intensive casework services to individuals and their families and provide casework consultation within the department and to outside agencies.  Incumbents of positions at this level work with minimal supervision and are expected to have acquired the high degree of assessment skills required to perform care coordination and referral tasks in complex casework areas. Lead supervisory responsibilities may be assigned as circumstances dictate.

NOTE: This is an unclassified position. Unclassified positions are at-will for a limited duration, typically associated with grant or other special funding. These positions are not covered by San Mateo County Civil Service Rules; and there is no formal probation period. The following are the same for classified and unclassified positions: salary, increases and other forms of compensation; accrual of sick leave, vacation, overtime, holiday and leaves of absence; health, dental, vision, long and short term disability, and retirement.

NOTE: This is a limited term, at-will position. Limited Term Employees are assigned to assignments not to exceed three years. They receive medical and dental benefits, similar to regular employees, and a defined contribution retirement plan.

DEFINITION

Under general supervision, performs a full range of technical and public contact duties in support of the Town’s code compliance program. This position emphasizes education and prevention by serving as a resource, partner, and guide to residents, contractors, and businesses to promote voluntary compliance and community pride. Responsibilities include proactive community education and outreach, monitoring construction activity, investigating and resolving complaints, and ensuring compliance with the Town’s municipal, fire, building, housing, zoning, and related codes and regulations. When enforcement is necessary, the Coordinator supports individuals through the resolution process by clearly explaining requirements and facilitating corrective action. Work involves extensive collaboration with Town departments and the public, detailed documentation and use of case management systems, and the consistent, fair application of codes and policies. Performs related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives general supervision from the Building Official. Exercises no direct supervision over staff.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

The Code Compliance Coordinator class series is flexibly staffed; positions are normally filled at the I level, with advancement to the II level based on demonstrated proficiency, possession of required qualifications, and management approval.

Code Compliance Coordinator I (Journey-Level):

This is the fully qualified, journey-level class in the Code Compliance series. Incumbents are responsible for performing the full range of duties related to municipal code compliance, including complaint investigation, construction site monitoring, inspections, case management, and public education. Employees in this class are expected to work independently, apply codes and regulations with discretion, and serve as educators and resources to the community. Positions at this level may receive direction or instruction as new or unusual situations arise but generally operate with a high degree of independence and responsibility.

Code Compliance Coordinator II (Advanced-Level)

This is the advanced-level class in the Code Compliance series. Positions at this level are distinguished from Code Compliance Coordinator I by the performance of more complex or sensitive compliance cases, the expectation to serve as a subject-matter resource, and potential responsibility for mentoring less experienced staff. Incumbents are expected to exercise greater judgment and may be assigned leadership in high-profile cases, advanced compliance activities, or coordination of multi-departmental enforcement efforts. Progression to this level is typically based on several years of successful performance as a Code Compliance Coordinator I, advanced training and/or certification, and demonstration of proficiency in handling the most complex cases.

Advancement to the Code Compliance Coordinator II level is typically achieved through progression from the I level and is contingent upon (i) management’s determination that the incumbent is regularly performing the full range of duties of the higher classification; (ii) demonstrated satisfactory job performance; (iii) incumbent meeting the minimum qualifications for the higher classification; and (iv) management approval for advancement to Code Compliance Coordinator II.

San Mateo Superior Court is searching for an experienced and strategic Information Technology Manager to oversee the Business Applications unit responsible for designing, implementing, and sustaining the enterprise systems that keep Court operations running seamlessly. The Position:

Under the general direction of the Court Director of Information Technology, this position plans, organizes and supervises the work of the Court’s business application team responsible for design, development, implementation and support/maintenance of applications and technology solutions to support achievement of the Court's mission and business, operating and judicial objectives.  The Court’s business application team performs limited in-house development.  The team primarily implements, enhances, maintains and supports enterprise-wide, vendor developed systems.

Court Information Technology Managers provide strategic leadership and oversight of professional and technical staff responsible for the design, development, implementation, and ongoing support of a broad portfolio of applications, systems, and user/workstation services. They ensure technology solutions are reliable, secure, and aligned with Court operational, administrative, and judicial service needs, enabling efficient business processes and high-quality service delivery across the organization. 

Incumbents provide strategic stewardship over assigned cost center budgets and ensure proactive planning, prioritization, and execution of technology initiatives of varying size, scope, and urgency. This includes aligning projects with organizational priorities, optimizing the use of financial and human resources, and ensuring outcomes are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with enterprise technology standards and long-range strategic goals. 

Incumbents are expected to cultivate and sustain strong, customer-focused partnerships with court managers and executives, judicial officers, justice-system stakeholders, and Judicial Council of California staff. These relationships support effective collaboration, alignment of technology solutions with Court needs, and the advancement of shared operational and strategic priorities across the justice community. 

Incumbents lead and participate in the assessment and adoption of emerging technologies, tools, standards, and frameworks to drive innovation and ensure the Court’s technology processes, systems, and solutions remain efficient, secure, and aligned with industry's best practices.

• Supervises and may participate in developing and managing multiple application development or implementation projects and other technology solutions of varying size, scale, complexity and urgency; reviews and approves and may assist in developing project scope of work and boundaries, detailed project plans, milestones and deadlines and project budgets; oversees and may participate in performing business process and work flow analyses; oversees development of business and data models; oversees and may participate in testing and evaluating vendor packages, products and hardware; integrates new projects into overall work plans; coordinates and integrates work on multiple projects and project teams; conducts project team meetings; oversees and supervises staff to ensure project completion and accountability for results.
• Supervises and oversees development and implementation of comprehensive systems test plans; oversees or develops implementation plans and solution deployment strategies for approval; approves placing applications into production; monitors operations and performance; ensures timely and effective problem identification and resolution; supervises the development of systems and user documentation following quality assurance processes and standards; supervises and oversees user training.
• Supervises and may participate in the activities of staff responding to customer requests for services and resolution of problems associated with their use of computer hardware, standard and specialized software, peripheral equipment, devices, network connectivity and other technology tools; researches data and proposes response and resolution standards and guidelines.
• Handles difficult customer relations situations, involving upset and dissatisfied customers and requiring a high degree of sensitivity and use of sound independent judgment; takes action to resolve customer complaints or ensures that appropriate action is taken by court technology staff.
• Meets and works with project teams, user groups, technical committees and/or court executives and managers to review progress and resolve project issues, problems and bottlenecks; participates in joint working sessions with internal and external stakeholders.
• Prepares and assesses project cost estimates and justifications for new systems or system modifications; drafts Requests for Proposals, evaluates responses and recommends vendor selection; drafts language and assists in negotiating and administering vendor contracts; monitors project progress and reviews or prepares status reports; reviews and acts on project and/or contract change requests; approves deliverables.
• Oversees and participates in analyses, evaluations and risk assessments required for implementation and integration of new large scale and/or highly complex technology solutions.
• Supervises, participates in development and ensures the enforcement of Court-wide technology security policies, protocols and standards in areas of assigned responsibility; participates in or coordinates development of Court-wide disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
• Provides guidance to staff in troubleshooting applications, network and systems communications, software and hardware problems to ensure prompt resolution.
• May serve as project manager for designated projects.

 

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify could include:

• Education: Graduation from a four-year college or equivalent technical certification with coursework in computer science, information systems or closely related field, AND a minimum of 60 semester or 90 quarter units in IT courses.
• Experience: A minimum of three years as an Information Technology manager or supervisor of at least three staff; a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in the planning, design, development, implementation, maintenance, and support of core business applications.

THE DEPARTMENT
The Burlingame Police Department is a municipal, full service, community oriented department.  We offer a variety of investigative, preventative, and community policing programs to both protect and serve a community that spans five square miles and is home to more than 28,000 residents.

The Burlingame Police Department is divided into two divisions: Operations and Administration.  The force currently consists of 40 police officers, made up of the Chief of Police, 1 Captain, 2 Lieutenants, 6 Sergeants, 6 Corporals, 2 Inspectors, and 22 Patrol Officers.

POSITION
Burlingame Police Officers are responsible for preventing crime, arresting law violators, directing traffic, etc.  In that capacity, officers may also serve in special assignments such as K-9, detective, SWAT, hostage teams, FTO, and motorcycle patrol.

Library Aides provide customer service to library visitors. Duties include checking items in and out at the Checkout Desk, opening new library accounts, collecting fines and fees, shelving materials, and assisting library visitors in finding materials and using the computers. Other tasks may include processing materials, providing storytimes for children, and assisting with other public programs for children, teens and adults. This is an ideal job for someone who is friendly, computer savvy, enjoys working with the public, putting things in order, and is detail-oriented. Bilingual skills are desirable.

Under supervision, to do library clerical, technical and customer service work, and related assignments as required.

The Positions: 

Silicon Valley Power is recruiting to fill various Electric Program Manager positions in the following specialties: Capital Project, Contracts, Distributed Energy Resources and Storage, Environmental, Safety, and System Operations.  

Capital Project Management

The focus and priority of this position will be to perform complex professional project management work to support the successful completion of over $300 million in near-term capital improvement program projects to support electric utility load growth.  The position is assigned to the customer development and project management unit which manages, plans, and oversees the development and implementation of the capital improvement program. This position will report to the Principal Electric Utility Engineer overseeing the System Expansion Program and will work collaboratively on the management of these critical projects. The individual will perform and manage the work related to planning, design, construction, operations, and maintenance of utility projects, including receiving stations, substations, electric transmission and distribution facilities, and other electrical infrastructure.  The incumbent is expected to manage consultants and directly administer public works contracts. Experience in electric utility engineering, utility asset management, GIS and work order management system is desirable.

• Distinguishing Characteristics/Experience:
  1. Direct knowledge in managing, planning, and overseeing the development and implementation of Capital Improvement Program(s) (CIP).
  2. Ability to provide extensive, in-depth, and specialized administrative, budgetary, financial, and compliance research, analysis, and support.
  3. Experience in management, engineering, financial, high-level administrative planning and analysis, and/or project management experience.

Contracts Portfolio 

The focus and priority of this position will be to perform complex professional work to support the development and management of SVP’s contracts portfolio.  SVP’s operation requires hundreds of unique contracts including specialized services agreements, leases, agreements with customers for substation construction, funding and deposits, public works contracts, license agreements, power purchase and resource adequacy agreements, as well as other unique agreements.  The position is assigned to the Business Services Division.  The incumbent will both lead staff supporting contracts functions and have direct involvement in negotiating and reviewing contracts.   Experience in utility contracts is desirable.

Distributed Energy Resources, Renewable Energy and Power Purchase Contracts

This position develops and implements cutting edge programs entailing distributed and renewable generation, energy storage, demand response, and microgrids. Incumbents perform professional level, individual work in project development.  Duties may include supervising and participating in the conduct of studies and surveys, data interpretation, forecasting, commodity purchasing, contract negotiation, pricing/rate making, engineering studies, development of policies and procedures, evaluating regulatory and legislative initiatives, preparing, reviewing, and managing budgets and operations.  Commodity purchasing and contract negotiation may include evaluation and development of strategies for electricity generation, both distributed and utility scale. Incumbents may supervise management and non-management staff and act as project team leaders and manage programs and projects.  Project management responsibilities include preparing RFPs, evaluating proposals, and managing contractors and consultants. 

 

Environmental

This position will ensure the City’s compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulatory agency requirements and guidelines pertaining to Air Quality, Water, Wastewater, Storm water, and Industrial waste.   This position will work with staff across multiple Divisions to develop, implement, and perform procedures and guidelines designed to ensure compliance and develop staff.  They will compose, compile, track, and analyze information related to regulatory, program, and compliance oversight. This position will act as SVP’s Subject Matter Expert and provide technical and functional advisement to Management and Staff concerning Environmental Compliance. This position requires in-depth knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws/regulations. This position also requires the ability to forecast and identify compliance issues and to develop mitigation strategies to correct issues. The position will also assist in the development of budgets, service contracts and training programs.

Safety

This position establishes, implements, and enforces an effective department wide safety and compliance program that prevents injury and illness. They will work to ensure that employees, both management and non-management, comply with the rules and regulations of Federal, State and Local Regulatory Agencies, and that company safety and compliance policies and procedures are consistently followed.

The position will also facilitate the development and completion of the department’s compliance and controls register, controls testing and auditing, standards development and review, horizon scanning for new and changing regulatory requirements, and serving as an OSHA subject matter for the department. The position will also assist in the development of budgets, service contracts and training programs. 

System Operations

This position will administer programs for work management, maintenance monitoring and asset management focused in all areas of Utility Operations (Metering, Substations, Transmission and Distribution). This position will also be responsible for the performance, review, and implementation of improvements to these programs.  The position will develop, maintain, and improve SVP’s Outage Management System. This position will work to ensure compliance with all applicable NERC standards and seek constant improvement in SVP Work and Safety standards affecting System Operations. The position will also assist in the development of budgets, service contracts and training programs.

•    Develop and monitor resource models and/or programs in alignment with State, Federal and local regulations and policies;

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
•    Education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Economics, Public or Business Administration, Environmental Sciences, Finance or a closely-related field; AND
•    Three (3) years' experience leading, supervising, managing, and coordinating work including but not limited to, customer related programs, project management, building facilities management, or writing, developing or administering safety or environmental compliance standards; OR
•    Generation/Substation/Transmission and Distribution/System Operations Specialties:  Three (3) years of experience in a lead, supervisory, or senior role performing work, including but not limited to a Supervisor, Engineer, Manager, Lead Technician, or Foreperson,  

ACCEPTABLE SUBSTITUTION
•    For Generation/Substation/Transmission and Distribution/System Operations Specialties: additional years of experience in a role equivalent to, but not limited to a Control Room Operator, Electric Utility Technician, Engineer, Lineworker, or working in a lead, supervisory, or senior role performing work, including but not limited to a Supervisor, Manager, Lead Technician, or Foreperson may substitute for the degree requirement on a year for year basis up to four (4) years.
•    For Generation/Substation/Transmission and Distribution/System Operations Specialties: Two (2) years of experience working in a role equivalent to, but not limited to a Control Room Operator, Electric Utility Technician, Engineer, or Lineworker may be substituted for one (1) year of experience as a lead, supervisor, or senior role up to six (6) years.
•    Two (2) years of experience in customer related programs, project management, building facilities management, or writing, developing or administering safety or environmental compliance standards may be substituted one (1) year of experience as a lead, supervisor, manager, and coordinator experience up to six (6) years. 

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Possession of a valid Class C California driver's license is required at the time of appointment and for the duration of employment.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
•    An advanced degree in Engineering, Public or Business Administration, Environmental Sciences or related field is desirable.
•    When assigned to Systems and Project Management, a: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from Project Management Institute (PMI) or an equivalent certification from accredited program is desirable.
•    When assigned to Generation/Substation/Transmission and Distribution/System Operations  Specialties, experience working in a power plant, substation,  transmission &  distribution, or Electric System Control Center environment is desirable.
•    When assigned to Safety Compliance, an in depth knowledge of OSHA and CalOSHA standards is desirable. 
•    When assigned to Environmental Compliance, an in-depth knowledge of Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures (SPCC), Air Permits, and Water Permits is desirable.

THE POSITION:

This is a division head management position at the Hayward Executive Airport, reporting to the Airport Manager. The incumbent is responsible for the management of the business and accounting functions at the airport and provides second-line supervision and direction of staff within the Airport Division. This position is distinguished from the Airport Operations Supervisor classification which is responsible for the direct supervision of staff performance of Airside and Landside operations and maintenance tasks at the airport. Under general direction, the Airport Business Supervisor, oversees the airport business function including budget preparation, the real property program, tenant compliance with contract provisions, collections, preparation of grant applications, and other administrative duties.

The Airport Business Supervisor is a key administrative position in the Airport division of Hayward Public Works Department. Essential Duties

What you will do: 
Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

Assist the Airport Manager with the negotiation of commercial lease agreements.

Prepare draft leases at the request of the Airport Manager.
 
Oversee preparation of the annual airport budget.
 
Maintain a detailed database of all commercial and individual airport tenants.
 
Monitor tenant compliance with contract provisions.
 
Monitor account receivables and collect past due amounts.
 
Prepare annual business permits and monitor tenant compliance.

Perform appraisals and provide estimated current values on real property.
 
Administer the City hangar waiting list.
 
Prepare Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Caltrans grant applications and related documents.
 
Monitor and submit required FAA reports for the DBE program.
 
Performs related work as necessary.

Experience:  Five (5) years of experience in real property management, appraisals, negotiations, and budgeting.  Including two (2) years of supervisory or lead experience.  Experience in an airport business office preferred.
 
Education:  Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major work in Public or Business Administration, or a closely related field.
 
Licenses and Certificates:  Possession of either an FAA Private Pilot Certificate or standing as a Certified Member (CM) of the American Association of Airport Executives is desirable.
