ABOUT THE POSITION
The City is recruiting for a full-time Housing and Community Services Manager (HCSM) to advance and strengthen the City’s efforts in affordable housing production and preservation, homelessness response, tenant protections, and coordination of supportive services for vulnerable community members. Since the creation of the Housing and Community Services Division, it has become a key part of the City’s strategy to address city-wide housing challenges. This leadership position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on housing accessibility, homelessness response, and community well-being in Gilroy. 

Under the general direction of the Community Development Director, the HCSM will plan, direct, and oversee the operations and programs of the Housing and Community Services Division and provide leadership and oversight of the development and administration of housing programs and grant-funded initiatives that support long-term housing affordability and stability for residents, including unhoused and at-risk populations. Working collaboratively with public agencies, nonprofit organizations, regional partners, and community stakeholders, the HCSM will help implement innovative housing solutions and advance strategic initiatives aligned with City goals and community priorities.

This position is an exempt, mid-management level position that must exercise competent discretion and judgement in the performance of duties and interactions with others. This position will be included with the Gilroy Management Association employee group.

This is a full-time, on-site position, designed for direct collaboration with the team and active participation in daily operations.

The regular work schedule may include varied days of the week, including weekends, and work hours (days/swings to 2 a.m.) and overtime availability is required often in the evenings (to include late night hours such as 2 a.m.) or on the weekends for targeted enforcement.

CLASS CHARACTERISITICS:

The Police Office Assistant is a journey-level position, fully competent to independently perform a variety of office support duties. Specific duties, including the amount of typing, word processing, and use of on-line or personal computers, will vary with the organization unit to which assigned.

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Administrative and Fiscal Services Manager! In this role, you will serve as a budgetary and financial expert while supervising the overall administrative, business service, and fiscal activities of a City department. Other responsibilities may include program planning and evaluation, personnel management, and contracts/grants management.

This is a city-wide classification that is assigned to the largest City departments. The current available position is in the Planning & Development Department. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this classification is:
Graduation from a four-year college or university with major work in accounting, finance, economics, business or public administration or a closely related field; and five (5) years of professional-level experience preparing and analyzing major operational and/or capital improvement budgets, and exercising fiscal controls. Two (2) of the five (5) years must have included supervisory responsibilities.

A Master's degree in one of the above-mentioned curricula may be substituted for one (1) year of non-supervisory experience and is highly desirable. Grants accounting experience is also desirable.

Must be able to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities. When driving on City business, the incumbent is required to maintain a valid California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.

The City of Newark is looking for General Laborer to be an integral member of the Maintenance Division within the Public Works Department. THE POSITION

The City is currently seeking General Maintenance Workers. This temporary position works with the City’s maintenance staff to perform: unskilled labor in the parks and landscape medians, street and sidewalk maintenance, street sign maintenance, and fleet building maintenance. Duties include, but are not limited to: raking, emptying trash cans and litter removal, irrigation repair, weeding, edging, street sign maintenance and graffiti removal. • Inspects, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects in automobiles, trucks, graders, rollers, and a variety of diesel and gasoline-powered equipment tears down motors and performs general overhauling; repairs transmissions, differentials, carburetors, distributors, fuel pumps, lights, steering gears, starters, alternators, universal joints, sirens, and hydraulic systems; aligns wheels, adjusts brakes; repairs auxiliary equipment such as hydraulic pumps and motors; builds specialized equipment; installs batteries, tires, wiring, automatic electronic systems, and brakes; welds and cuts with electric and acetylene; occasionally makes emergency repairs out of the shop.
