About this role
We are seeking responsible, reliable and enthusiastic individuals to manage and oversee for Adult Sports Leagues. This position will be responsible for staffing and managing all Adult Sport games on a field or in a gym, including scorekeepers and communication with the sport official’s association, and managing the adult sports scheduling and score reporting online. This is a part time, non-benefited position, up to 30 hours per week and limited to 960 hours in a fiscal year (July-June). You must be available to work Monday-Friday during the hours of 4:30pm-10:15pm and occasional weekends. This position is year-round.

What You’ll Do

• Greet, acknowledge, and interactive with patrons and sports officials in a friendly and professional manner
• Ensures all game related information are uploaded to website in a timely manner for each game
• Keeps games moving, maintains game rules and manages game conflicts
• Ensures use of sport program supplies follows the amount prearranged by the department budget
• Oversees and managers Adult Sport League games and is present before and after designated scheduled game times
• Assists in tracking payroll for all per diem workers
• If necessary, will cover shifts for scorekeeping or gym attendant when no subs are available
• Back up to the field preparation position
• Manage the gym schedule, staffing and be a back up to rental officers, if necessary
• Takes game photos of all Sport League games
• Provide excellent customer service.

• Acts a liaison to build a positive working relationship with all youth user groups who use the athletic fields in San Mateo.
• Reviews all activities on San Mateo field’s including, youth user group games and practices, adult sports, private rentals and public drop in use.
• Interprets and enforces the field user policy and park policies to the public and sports user groups.
• Monitors park areas by foot to assist the general public and sports groups in the use of the park areas.
• Responds to inquiries and complaints and ensures safe use of the facilities.
• Documents all emergency and first-aid contacts.
• Reports possible safety hazards and/or unsanitary conditions to the Recreation Supervisor.
• Assist in keeping accurate records of forms, inventory and supplies
• Supports City or Department-sponsored events as required.

License and Certificates:

Possession of and ability to maintain a valid California Driver’s License.

Possession of a POST (Peace Officer Standards & Training) written examination certificate with a preferred T-Score of 52 or above and a passing score for the WSTB physical agility examination. Or possession of a National Testing Network Law Enforcement written examination certificate with a preferred score in the 90th percentile and a passing score for the WSTB physical agility examination.

Necessary Special Qualifications:

Free of any felony convictions.

Effective January 1, 2023, peace officers must be legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law. There are no specific citizenship requirements per Senate Bill 2. California Government Code Section 1031(h) limits employment authorization documents to those consistent with Section 274a.2 of Title 8 of the Code of Federal Regulations. Specific documentation requirements can be found on the I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification form issued by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Government Code section 1031(g) permits departments to adopt additional and/or higher standards.

Age not less than 21-years-old at time of appointment to the rank of police officer.

The Position:

This is a non-sworn classification structured for incumbents hired for the purpose of becoming a sworn police officer.  Police Officer Trainees are hired into this civilian position for the period prior and during the time they are assigned to a POST-certified Basic Law Enforcement Academy.  Upon successful completion of training at the academy and upon the availability of a Police Officer position, Police Officer Trainees are sworn in and appointed to the classification of Police Officer.  Police Officer Trainee benefits are limited to those of a civilian employee.

Consists of a diverse and outstanding group of men and women who have dedicated themselves to public service. Our staff, which consists of 113 sworn police officers and 40 civilian positions, is devoted to protecting and serving the citizens of San Mateo professionally, while providing outstanding customer service.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the positions of Assistant Engineer, Associate Engineer and Associate Civil Engineer for the Public Works Department in the Community Development and Services Agency. Currently, there are two vacancies that may be filled at either the Assistant Engineer, Associate Engineer, or Associate Civil Engineer level depending on qualifications. These classes are alternately staffed and incumbents may advance to the higher level after gaining experience, required certifications and demonstrating proficiency which meet the qualifications and expectations for the higher level class. Assignments are intended to provide background in the fundamental principles and practices of public service engineering.

Associate Engineer: is the journey level in the civil engineer series. Under general supervision, incumbents independently conduct design, research and construction project inspection and analyses for a variety of projects within the county. Responsibilities may also include providing work direction to technical support staff.

Associate Civil Engineer: is the advanced journey level in the civil engineering series. Under general direction, incumbents perform professional engineer work and prepare civil design plans for various Public Works projects; independently conduct engineering feasibility cost, research and design studies and construction project work; analyses for varied department and agency projects and functions; signing off designs and as-built changes related to roads, bridges, culverts and other County infrastructure and perform related duties as assigned.
