About the Role:

Reporting to the Senior Management Analyst, the Communications Intern will contribute to a wide range of public information and outreach activities.  The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, responsible, detail oriented, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.  You will help craft digital content, support public engagement campaigns, and represent the City in a professional and tactful manner.

The position offers flexible part-time hours of up to 15-20 hours per week, with occasional evening or weekend hours required for community events.  Compensation is on an hourly basis for actual hours worked.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Create and edit content for the City's website, social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and Nextdoor), newsletters, flyers, and press materials.
• Capture and document City events and programs through photography, video, and interviews.
• Assist with the scheduling and management of social media content.
• Support updates to the City's website and weekly e-newsletters.
• Participate in community outreach events, help at public meetings, and collect community feedback.
• Research and design basic visual materials for presentations and public campaigns.
• Track engagement analytics across digital platforms and compile reports to guide communication strategies.
• Conducts basic office functions such as data entry and file management.

Required Qualifications:

• Enrollment in or recent completion of a degree in communications, journalism, public relations, graphic design, public administration or a closely related field.
• Proficiency in Canva, Microsoft Office, and social media platforms.

• Ability to work in a standard office environment including ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, twist, and lift 20 lbs.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and a pre-employment drug screen.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Flexible and adaptable with the ability to learn quickly while maintaining high quality work.
• Experience working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
• Understanding of basic public communications, social media, and/or media relations.
• Strong communication (written and oral), research, and organizational skills.

The Public Works Department is made up of four divisions: Engineering, Building Inspection, Maintenance, and Environmental Services. The City Engineer will be a key leadership position oversees the Engineering Division, ensuring the efficient delivery of public works projects, transportation initiatives, and infrastructure improvements that enhance the quality of life for our residents. 

The incumbent in this position will be instrumental in directing the planning, design, and construction of public infrastructure projects, overseeing both city-led developments and private sector contributions. This includes the review and approval of subdivision maps, street designs, stormwater management, and adherence to city and state standards for engineering projects. As a vital contributor to the City’s long-term development, the City Engineer will manage the City's Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), ensuring that infrastructure projects are aligned with the needs of our growing community.

• A streetscape project funded with regional grants and state earmarks, celebrating a beginning to development of the downtown area.

This position reports to the Public Works Director and supervises a talented team of professional, technical, and paraprofessional staff. The City Engineer will also act in the absence of the Public Works Director, providing crucial leadership and decision-making in the department. 

A few key aspects of this position are: 

• Leadership & Supervision: Direct the activities of the Engineering Division by assigning, supervising, and evaluating the work of staff and ensure that city projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with legal requirements. 

• Project Oversight: Lead the development and implementation of major street, transportation, and capital projects through plan and specification review, bidding process management, and construction and inspection. 

• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all private development and public improvement plans comply with state and local codes, including the preparation and review of subdivision maps and stormwater management initiatives. 

• Capital Improvement Management: Administer the City’s Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), including project selection, budget oversight, and coordination with City Council and other stakeholders.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING 

Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

• Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering or a closely related field. 

Experience: 

• Six (6) years of progressively responsible professional civil engineering work including three (3) years of supervisory and project management experience.

The Yuba County Probation is currently recruiting for the position of Deputy Probation Officer I/II.  Under general supervision, Deputy Probation Officers perform a variety of professional adult and juvenile probation duties related to case management, field monitoring and investigation, probation supervision, mediation, intake and other programs; coordinates probation activities with those of the Superior Court; ensures compliance with court ordered probation conditions through counseling; coordinates community resources to assist probationers to successfully complete the terms of probation; and performs related work as required. This classification is a flexibly staffed position in the protective services category in the professional Probation Officer series. About Yuba County Probation Services:

The principal mandated tasks accomplished by Adult and Juvenile Probation Services are the preparation of investigative reports and sentencing recommendations for the Courts on criminal, diversion and probation actions, and the supervision of adult and at risk youth granted formal probation. Probation Officers also supervise clients released on Post Release Community Supervision and pursuant to Section 1170(h) of the Penal Code. Probation manages a variety of specialized adult and youth program elements. The adult programs include Drug Court, a pre-trial risk assessment unit, and a wide array of rehabilitative programming at the Yuba County T.E.A.M. Center. Glenn County is recruiting an individual to fill a full time position in the Public Works Agency. The Public Works Maintenance Worker I/II/III position performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled labor in the construction, maintenance and repair of County roads, bridges, and other related structures, and in various traffic control maintenance and  repair activities of the Public Works Agency; operates a variety of construction, maintenance and transportation equipment as necessary to complete daily tasks at the Glenn County Public Works Agency.
