The Positions
Silicon Valley Power (SVP) is seeking dynamic and innovative Senior Electric Utility Engineer candidates to immediately fill two (2) vacancies  in the Customer Development and Project Management divisions, with potential future vacancies in these or other divisions. The ideal candidates will have electric utility engineering experience; excellent project management skills; strong oral and written communication skills; experience working in a team environment on major construction projects.
 
For the Engineering Division:

This position will lead substation engineering and standards development that support the mission of the Utility. This individual should be an experienced, self-starter who can thrive in both an autonomous and team environment. This position requires hands-on working knowledge of   substation design and construction, and standards development. A working knowledge of protection and control systems, communication systems, project management, and Compliance is desirable. The candidate should have extensive knowledge of substation engineering concepts, principles, and practices to resolve complex problems with only general direction. This position supports day-to-day utility operations and Compliance.

For System Expansion Division 

This position will support System Expansion Capital Projects and have the opportunity to work on complex and exciting large capital system expansion improvement projects in a dynamic, team-oriented environment. This position will be working on four large system expansion projects moving forward to bid and construction, totaling an estimated cost of $440 million. This position requires hands-on work during construction of 3 receiving station projects and one 2.25-mile 115kV transmission line project. The position may also assist with outage management, construction and contracts management, material procurement and tracking, and easement acquisition. As such, the ideal candidate will have large substation or receiving station project experience and be able to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities. The candidate will show proven problem-solving skills and excellent communication.

 Today, SVP owns, operates and participates in more than 1,200 MW of electric generating resources and serves a peak load of approximately 700 MW. This includes over 30 strategic initiatives in four distinct areas: Utility Performance Excellence, Customer Engagement and Satisfaction, Progress and Innovation Focus, and Community and Environmental Stewardship. High-profile customers include large corporations such as Intel, Applied Materials, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and NVIDIA.

Incumbents in these positions may be assigned to work in the operations, generation, transmission, planning, distribution, or substation groups of the Electric Utility Department as the need is determined.

Minimum Qualifications

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited college or university with: a) Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and three (3) years experience in electric utility engineering work or b) a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and four (4) years experience doing electric utility engineering work or ten (10) years experience doing electric utility engineering work and satisfactory completion of a qualifying written examination.  A Master's Degree in electrical, mechanical or civil engineering from an accredited college may be substituted for one year of experience (proof of receipt of an Engineer In Training certificate may be substituted for the qualifying written examination).  Candidates from a non accredited college or university must demonstrate equivalency. Registration as a professional electrical, mechanical or civil engineer in the State of California may be substituted for accreditation equivalency.

LICENSE
Possession of a valid California Driver's license.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
May work unusual hours in emergency situations, or while acting as duty supervisor outside regular working hours, or at other than regular job site.

SCOPE OF EXAMINATION FOR QUALIFYING EXAMINATION (if necessary) Fundamentals of engineering and science. Mathematics including algebra, geometry, complex numbers, trigonometry, calculus; electrical theory (alternating and direct current), statics, dynamics, thermodynamics and economic analysis.

About The Position

We are seeking highly motivated, highly skilled, innovative and enthusiastic individuals to join the Recreation and Human Services Division with the City of Half Moon Bay.  As a critical member of this team you’ll be responsible for assisting in organizing and conducting a variety of recreation programs and activities.

What You Will Do

• Open, secure and close City facilities.
• Arrange chairs, tables and other equipment for events held at City facilities.
• Arrange audio system and room set-up for City Council, Planning Commission and Recreation Committee meetings.
• Monitor activities during the facility rentals and other facility usage including monitoring the time of access and departure of the group, monitoring set up and clean up quality provided by the group to ensure that department standards are met. Inspect facilities after usage ends. 
• Accept and file facility rental paperwork and drop in fees. 
• Provide customer service in person or by phone by orienting users, answering questions and resolving problems.
• Enforce department rules including facility rental policies.
• Communicate with the community in both English and Spanish (preferred).
• Work evenings and weekends as needed. 
• Perform related duties as assigned.

What You Bring

Sufficient education and experience to satisfactorily perform the duties of this classification. Knowing that any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. Such as:

Building Attendant I: Possession of a High School Diploma, or equivalent, and no experience working in a recreation setting.  Experience working in a recreation setting can substitute for the diploma or equivalent.

Building Attendant II: Possession of a High School Diploma, or equivalent; and two (2) year’s paid or unpaid work experience, or two (2) years of experience equivalent to the level of Building Attendant I.

Building Attendant III:  Possession of a High School Diploma, or equivalent; and four (4) year’s paid or unpaid work experience, or four (4) years of recreation leadership experience equivalent to the level of Building Attendant I.

• Basic mathematical functions.
• Equipment, facilities, operations and techniques used in a comprehensive community recreation program.

This position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities.  The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in preparing statistical reports and data using a computer keyboard.  Additionally, the position requires near vision in reading correspondence, statistical data and using a computer, and acute hearing is required when providing phone service and communicating in person.

Working as part of the court executive team, the Court Director of Finance (Director of Finance) will exercise managerial authority over the financial operations, oversee the budget, and look for ways to enhance the revenue of the Superior Court of California in San Mateo County.  In addition, the Director of Finance will develop, recommend, and implement departmental budgetary goals, policies, and objectives and will develop and implement dual (programmatic and cost center) budgetary, monitoring, and fiscal reporting systems to coordinate with the State budgetary and fiscal reporting systems.

• Monitor and analyze State and local legislation affecting court operations and develop responsive fiscal strategies.
• Direct and evaluate staff responsible for fiscal and accounting functions, including training, motivation, and performance management.

• Represent the Court administration in meetings with the State, judicial officers, County departments, other Superior Courts, and public and private organizations.
• Provide expert consultation to the Court Executive Officer and executive team on fiscal strategy, forecasting, and risk management.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, auditing, economics, business, or public administration or a related discipline. A graduate degree in one of the above disciplines is preferred.
• Experience: Five years of increasingly responsible experience performing a wide variety of fiscal resource management in a public agency, at least two years of which were in an administrative or management capacity. Experience in a California Court setting is preferred.

 

Knowledge of:

• Legislation, policies, and procedures related to budgeting and financial reporting for the California Superior Courts, including public agency fund accounting and third-party reimbursement and claims payment practices.
• Fiscal resource administration, including planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, auditing, and related practices.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City invites you to apply for the position of Payroll Supervisor -Confidential.  Under general direction of the Financial Services Manager the Payroll Supervisor, plans, organizes, supervises, trains and evaluates the work and activities of assigned staff engaged in payroll operations ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant processing of employee compensation. Primary duties include providing expert level strategic leadership in planning, preparing, processing, and maintaining the City’s payroll and related records and reports, and partnering with Human Resources to recommend and implement payroll policies and procedures to meet City responsibilities with respect to labor agreements, labor laws, payroll tax administration and system updates.

A few typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Coordinates, oversees, and participates in the full spectrum of payroll activities; ensures timely and accurate posting of payroll to the financial accounting system; ensures accurate deduction and remittance of garnishments, child support, IRS levies and court orders as administered by vendors or internal staff; and ensures accurate reporting of changes in pay, payroll status, taxes, benefits, deductions, and retroactive pay adjustments.
• Assists in the development, implementation, administration, and prioritization of goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for assigned Payroll programs.
• Plans, organizes, schedules, assigns, directs, coordinates, and reviews work activities and projects; monitors workflow; reviews and evaluates work products, methods, and procedures; and works with staff to identify and resolve problems. 
• Participates in coordinating and maintaining payroll system data and is responsible for the execution of internal controls to ensure accuracy of data.

• Participates in the development, implementation, and enhancement of the Enterprise Resource planning (ERP) system including configuration, testing, and validation to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance; subject matter expertise on payroll processes to support ERP system design and enhancement; data migration, system integration, and reconciliation; coordinates needs and customizations to meet the needs of departments and/or sound financial practices; and monitors ERP system performance, recommends enhancements, and supports continuous improvement initiatives.

• Selects, trains, motivates, and evaluates assigned personnel; provides and/or coordinates staff training; develops work performance standards; works with employees to correct deficiencies; and implements discipline and termination procedures in conjunction with the Human Resources Department.

• Assists in the investigation of complaints; suggests corrective actions and recommends and implements improvements.
• Keeps abreast of relevant and applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, City labor agreements, policies and procedures, and payroll best practices; recommends and implements payroll policies and procedures to comply with the applicable rules and regulations.  
• Ensures compliance with reporting mandates; submits appropriate forms and transmits information to government agencies, including the California Public Employee Retirement System (CalPERS), the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and the Employee Development Department (EDD).
• Ensures CalPERS pension plan extracts are accurate and filed timely; responds to CalPERS payroll reporting inquiries, discrepancies, audit responses, and action plans.
• Develops, maintains, updates, and communicates organization wide payroll policies and processes regarding earnings, deductions, and timekeeping.
• Compiles, analyzes, and reconciles a variety of records in the preparation of documents and reports; conducts complex analysis and prepares reports as required. Coordinates payroll activities with other departments, divisions, and outside agencies and organizations; assists with training and responding to questions from department timekeepers on timekeeping and payroll systems, payroll legislation, and City policy related to payroll.

THE DEPARTMENT
The Burlingame Police Department is a municipal, full service, community oriented department.  We offer a variety of investigative, preventative, and community policing programs to both protect and serve a community that spans five square miles and is home to more than 28,000 residents.

The Burlingame Police Department is divided into two divisions: Operations and Administration.  The force currently consists of 40 police officers, made up of the Chief of Police, 1 Captain, 2 Lieutenants, 6 Sergeants, 6 Corporals, 2 Inspectors, and 22 Patrol Officers.

We are active in county-wide law enforcement efforts by participating in the San Mateo County Gang Task Force, Avoid the 23 (DUI) Task Force, Narcotic Task Force Details, Alcohol Beverage Control Operations, Office of Traffic Safety grants and as Police Academy Training Officers.

POSITION
Burlingame Police Officers are responsible for preventing crime, arresting law violators, directing traffic, etc.  In that capacity, officers may also serve in special assignments such as K-9, detective, SWAT, hostage teams, FTO, and motorcycle patrol.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Patrol various areas within the City by driving a police vehicle or by walking to prevent criminal activity, to enforce various laws, regulations, and codes.
• Respond to radio dispatched calls and reports to crime scenes or locations of disorder to protect life and property.
• Conduct investigations, gathers information and writes factual reports involving criminal activity, traffic accidents, suspicious activity, or other unusual incidents.
• Make arrests as necessary and writes report of all arrests made and activities performed.
• Interview and interrogate suspicious persons, suspects, and prisoners.
• Gather, mark, preserve, and record evidence in criminal or related matters; testify and present evidence in court.
• Serve warrants and subpoenas.
• Assist in the performance of special investigations and perform undercover and surveillance activities when necessary.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of:

• State laws, local regulations, ordinances, and codes including laws or arrest, current court decisions, General Police procedures and rules.
• Standard police broadcasting procedures and codes.
• Proper use of departmental firearms.
• Geography of the local area.

Ability to:

Skills:

• Operation of police vehicle at high rates of speed during emergency situations.
• Use police vehicle radios as well as hand-held portables and use proper radio codes.
• Use hand-held and/or electronic equipment for drug and alcohol detection.
• Ability to process for and lift latent evidence.
• Finger print and take palm prints from arrestees.
• Use departmentally issued firearms safely and safety equipment.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Candidates must be a US Citizen, at least 21 years of age on date of appointment, a US high school graduate (or GED equivalent), have no felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history.  Must be able to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions, read, comprehend, write, and speak English effectively.

Entry Level - Proof of completing the POST Written Test and Physical Agility Test with a passing score.

Lateral Police Officer - To be considered for a lateral Police Officer appointment, candidates must have prior experience as a sworn law enforcement officer within the past twelve (12) months, including the completion of the field training program and probation period with a law enforcement agency.

The Planning and Delivery subdivision of the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) is responsible for providing a safe, reliable and connected multimodal network. SFMTA is currently in the process of developing a new train control system.  The Train Control Upgrade Project (TCUP) is a critical, once-in-a-generation investment to modernize and grow Muni Metro for decades to come. TCUP aims to replace the outdated system that currently controls our Metro trains in our subways with a new, state-of-the-art Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) system, and extend the new system to all on-street Metro corridors.

The Project Manager I (PM1) is responsible for the surface level integration of the new CBTC system with SFMTA’s existing traffic signal infrastructure.  The work will include systems engineering to integrate various pieces of infrastructure to ensure compatible functionality (e.g. CBTC can communicate with traffic signal controller software and output the desired signal outcomes). The PM1 should possess expertise in traffic signal systems and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), including but not limited to: signal timing parameters, traffic signal design, Transit Signal Priority (TSP), network communication protocols and devices, as well as familiarity with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and the systems engineering architecture and standards established by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA).  The candidate must also have prior experience overseeing the integration of ITS devices, such as TSP and emergency vehicle preemption, with the D4 traffic signal controller software.

EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT DUTIES:

• Oversee internal staff and consultants to develop protocols and procedures to integrate CBTC technology with existing traffic signal infrastructure
• Develop calculations for traffic signal timing card changes to reduce transit travel times and improve transit reliability
• Provide direction to staff in the preparation of studies, calculations, designs, drawings, sketches, and plans for a variety of engineering projects using AutoCAD, Synchro, VISSIM and other software tools
• Provide written and oral responses to a variety of inquiries from other agencies, contractors, and the general public

How to qualify

1. Bachelor's Degree in architecture, engineering or planning plus four years of responsible architectural, engineering or construction management experience, OR
2. A Bachelor's Degree in another field plus six years of responsible experience in a field directly related to the project, OR
3. Eight years of architectural, engineering, or construction management experience in a field directly related to the project, OR
4. California registration as professional engineer or architect.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

The stated desirable qualifications may be used to identify candidates advancing to the interview process and/or to identify job finalist(s) at the end of the selection process when referred for hiring.

• Possession of a current Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California in both Civil and Traffic disciplines
• Possession of a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
• Detailed knowledge of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and the National Transportation Communications for Intelligent Transportation System Protocol (NTCIP), including previous experience with managing project deployment and integrations of related devices
• Extensive experience programming traffic signal timing plans with the D4 traffic signal controller software
• Knowledge of transit operations and investigative practices to develop roadway engineering safety improvements
• Hands-on experience with traffic signal and communications network design and construction - covering all phases from preliminary engineering design to the finalization of plans, specifications, and estimates plus construction support
• Demonstrated capability in lifecycle planning and deployment of emerging technologies, including successful implementation through pilot initiatives
• A genuine interest in transit and enthusiasm for improving a highly-utilized metropolitan rail system

About the Role

The Town of Los Altos Hills is seeking an experienced, motivated, and community-oriented Associate Planner to join our small but dynamic Planning team. Under the supervision of the Director, the Associate Planner will work on a wide variety of current and long-range planning efforts. This is a mid-level professional planning role ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys managing projects with autonomy while serving a unique, rural-residential community.

The Associate Planner conducts research and analysis related to the Town’s General Plan, Zoning Ordinance, and other land use regulations. Key Responsibilities
