The City of Patterson is seeking to fill one (1) part-time vacancy for a Facility Attendant in the Recreation Department and to establish an eligibility list.

Duties include, but are not limited to: under direct supervision, performs a variety of facility related tasks to ensure effective operations at the Recreation and Community Services Complex and related facilities and parks. Prepares facilities for use; works with users during events; provides set-up and arrangements for classes, meetings, and public and private events; registers participants for recreational programs; assists with cleaning and maintaining of Community Services' facilities including removing and disposing of trash, sweeping, and mopping of floors.  Provides staff support for recreation events and programs.

• Comply with state, county, and private grant requirements including cost allocations and documentation of Homelessness Initiatives Program expenditures by contracted service providers, strengthening of reporting systems.
• Manage grants from inception through close out, ensuring that best practices are followed, and spend down is maximized.
• Create annual budgets and budgets for proposals, complete budget modifications, and monitor actual expenditures versus budget.
• Prepare grant invoices and financial reports.
• Prepare financial reports for the City’s Homelessness Initiatives.
• Monitor and track budget, revenue, and expenditures for Homelessness Initiatives within the City’s financial system and with City’s Finance Staff.
• Develop cost/benefit analysis of City’s Homelessness Initiatives investments in relationship to ongoing costs of mitigation.
• Draft staff reports and other written materials.

The Position

 
The San Bruno Police Department is recruiting for entry-level Public Safety Dispatchers.  Public Safety Dispatchers are responsible for public safety dispatch and related records management activities. This position operates on a 24-hour, 365 days per year basis, and may be assigned to either a day, swing, or graveyard shift on a regular, rotational basis that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.  Public Safety Dispatchers perform a wide range of duties involving radio, telephone, and computers, applying various procedures and codes. Dispatchers receive and transmit emergency and non-emergency telephone and radio traffic as well as process communication reports, records, and radio logs, while maintaining
a high level of confidentiality.  Dispatchers may also support the Police Department by performing clerical tasks, training, assisting with fingerprinting, and being accountable for financial transactions.  This position is integral in supporting the goals and objectives of the City and Police Department.  

 

Examples of Duties

 

Essential Duties

• Receives and transmits emergency
  and non-emergency
  telephone and radio traffic.  

• Maintains and processes a variety of communications reports, records and radio logs.

• Operates a dispatch console, uses Computer Aided Dispatch (C.A.D.) System and other computer programs to process information and records.

• Responsible for various Record Management System (RMS) entries, some of these include but are not limited to citations, warrants, subpoenas. 

• Responsible for accurate and timely entries into the California Law Enforcement Telecommunication System (CLETS), as well as, the National Crime Information Center (NCIC).

• Maintains a high level of confidentiality.

• Performs collateral duties including a variety of related clerical tasks:
  records entry, assisting in fingerprinting and jail operations, which may include searching prisoners; and is accountable for handling cash, bond, and check transactions. 

• Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Certificates and Licenses

 

• Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License, Class C with a good driving record.

• Typing certificate issued within the last year verifying minimum typing speed of thirty-five (35) net words per minute with a maximum of nine (9) errors. Typing certificate must be submitted with application to be considered.  Online typing certificate permitted with application; formal test will be administered to final candidate.

• Completion within the last year of the POST Entry Level Dispatcher Selection Test Battery with a preferred minimum

To assist in planning, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating recreation programs and events, including but not limited to Teen Programs, Youth Programs, Aquatic Programs, Senior Programs, Adult Programs, promotional events, special events and excursions. Issue, secure and maintain program equipment and supplies. Ability to work flexible hours. Ability to drive a large van to transport materials, and participants to various activities. Regular, predictable, consistent and timely attendance is an essential function of the position, in that employee must be present to work to complete assigned tasks.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

For all work assignments:

• Enforce all rules and regulations and lead youth programs as assigned.
• Teach aquatic programs and perform lifeguard duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

When assigned to Aquatics:

The Recreation Coordinator will be responsible to perform lifeguarding duties, ensuring the safety of patrons, enforcing pool regulations, and responding to emergencies as needed. Additionally, they will need to train, certify, supervise and schedule lifeguards. During operating hours, on-site presence is required to ensure smooth operations and safety compliance.

When assigned to Youth Program(s) (i.e. Teen Programs, Youth Programs, etc.):

The Recreation Coordinator will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and supervising youth-oriented programs. Specific duties include: Planning and implementing recreational, educational, and enrichment activities tailored to different age groups. Recruiting, training, scheduling, and supervising program staff, volunteers, and instructors. Ensuring a safe and inclusive environment by enforcing program policies and addressing behavioral issues, as needed. May be required to perform lifeguard duties, as needed.

Minimum Education and Experience:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in recreation or a related field is preferred.

Experience: Two (2) years of increasing responsible experience in the delivery of recreation services. A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for one (1) year of experience.

Licenses or Certificates: Required upon hire: Valid California Driver’s license

Required within six (6) months of hire:

Possession and maintenance of a current American Red Cross First Aid Certificate or equivalent.

Current American Red Cross Community CPR Certificate (or equivalent)

When assigned to aquatics (in addition to recreation programs), the following are required and must be maintained during the course of employment:

Required upon hire: Valid California Driver’s license, American Red Cross Lifeguard Training with CPR and First Aid (or equivalent)

Required within six (6) months of hire: American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (or equivalent), American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Trainer, First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (Title 22 equivalent).

The South San Francisco Public Works Department is comprised of its three main divisions - Engineering, Maintenance & Operations, and the Water Quality Control Plant. Together, these divisions ensure that South San Francisco's infrastructure and public services are efficiently managed and maintained, contributing to the overall quality of life in the community.

Located adjacent to San Francisco Bay on Colma Creek, the Water Quality Control Plant (WQCP) provides secondary wastewater treatment for the cities of South San Francisco, San Bruno, and Colma. It also provides the dechlorination treatment of chlorinated effluent for the cities of Burlingame, Millbrae, and the San Francisco International Airport prior to discharging the treated wastewater into San Francisco Bay. The average dry weather flow through the facility is 9 million gallons per day (MGD). Peak wet weather flows can exceed 60 MGD.

Education

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Enforcing parking regulations in compliance with State law and City ordinances.

• Patrolling assigned routes, issuing citations, and maintaining accurate records with electronic devices.

• Responding to public concerns and complaints regarding traffic, parking, and abandoned vehicles.

• Providing information on parking citations, permits, and applicable regulations.

• Reporting missing or damaged traffic signs, signals, or roadway markings.

• Assisting with traffic control during accidents or special events.

• Performing other related duties as assigned.
