Camp Newark is seeking a confident, creative, and organized leader to serve as an Activity Coordinator for our dynamic summer camp program. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in high-energy environments and are passionate about creating meaningful experiences for youth ages 6–11. 

The Activity Coordinator plays a key leadership role in planning and delivering engaging daily programming while supporting and supervising camp staff. Key Responsibilities: 

• Create, schedule, and implement creative camp activities for youth ages 6–11, including arts and crafts, sports, games, and STEM-based enrichment.

Qualifications:

Recreation Specialist II Example Duties:

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Collaborate with Recreation staff to Plan and lead developmentally appropriate activities for children ages 5–12
• Provide professional guidance and support to Recreation Specialist I staff
• Assist with behavior management using positive youth development practices

The Department

The Parks and Recreation Department is the third largest department in the City and is organized by program area, with each program administered by a supervisor, coordinator, or specialist. The department is comprised of the Recreation, Community Services, Parks, Facilities and Common Greens divisions.

The Parks Division is in charge of planning and maintaining the city’s parks, playgrounds, sports fields, and other landscaping. There are approximately 25 parks and play lots, including Sign Hill Park, which has 60 acres of open space, and Centennial Way Linear Park, a 3-mile pedestrian and bicycle trail. Amenities include Centennial Dog Park, bocce ball courts, an above-ground skate park, a variety of ball fields, tennis and basketball courts, picnic shelters and group picnic areas.

IDEAL CANDIDATE SECTION:

The ideal Park Maintenance Worker will be able to prioritize work and coordinate multiple tasks while working cooperatively with a variety of people, consistently ensuring excellent customer service. Capable of organizing duties, meeting critical deadlines, and following up on assignments with minimal supervision to maintain parks and public facilities according to established standards. • Maintains all types of landscaped areas through mowing, watering, planting, trimming, weeding, and fertilizing.
• Applies insecticides, herbicides, and fertilizers.
• Operates trucks, tractors, mowers, chippers, and related grounds and tree maintenance equipment.
• Cleans and perform minor repairs to park and recreation equipment, buildings, and related facilities; maintains and prepares athletic fields.
• Assists in the maintenance of sprinkler systems; assists in the maintenance and minor repair of power-driven equipment.
• As assigned, works extended or irregular hours.
• Assists in the general cleaning and maintenance of the Corporation Yard.
• Performs other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:

Experience: One year of experience in parks and landscape maintenance work is preferred. 

Training: Equivalent to graduation from high school.

THE POSITION

The City of Daly City is seeking a dynamic and experienced Economic Development Program Manager to join the Office of the City Manager. This new position is an opportunity to shape and lead innovative programs that enhance the local economy, reimagine and activate the environment and attract, retain and support businesses in the Daly City community.

The Economic Development Program Manager plays a vital role in fostering relationships with the business community, developing and implementing economic development strategies, all while providing direct support to meet business needs. The diverse range of work in partnership building, policy development, long-term visioning, program implementation, data analysis and research provides an exciting and fulfilling opportunity.

As a top priority for the City, the Economic Development Program Manager will ensure the City addresses the needs of local businesses and provides opportunities for their success, as well as identify new businesses to enhance the City’s overall economic health. This also includes regular outreach to local businesses to offer assistance through referrals to state and federal programs, and strategic planning for expansion approval. This position must create and maintain partnerships with multiple associations community organizations and State and Federal re-sources.

DEFINITION

Under the direction of the City Manager or their designee, the Economic Development Program Manager develops, coordinates, and implements the City’s economic development programs and related activities; works with commercial and retail businesses, developers and property owners and managers on potential opportunity sites, assists applicants and business in their dealings with the City, initiates key economic activities based on the City’s General Plan, provides economic data to inform key city policy decisions; manages Grant funding opportunities for economic development, develops and implements marketing, branding and outreach activities for attraction and retention of businesses in Daly City and performs related work as required.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Develop and update the City’s Economic Development and Business Strategy and develop an action plan to implement the strategy and economic development programs on a citywide basis.
• Manage grant and funding opportunities to support economic initiatives; oversee administration of economic development grants and contracts.
• Develop financing sources for various programs through communication and negotiation with agencies of the State and Federal government, the private sector and nonprofit foundations.

• Oversee and coordinate Economic Development events and festivals.

• Continuously valuate and review economic development program goals, objectives, and strategies and recommend changes to programs, policies or procedures that will facilitate ongoing success to attract and recruit new businesses to activate and fill vacant commercial spaces.
• Identify, develop and analyze data to assess trends, issues and opportunities affecting businesses and the City in order to effectively support local businesses.
• Serve as the primary liaison to the Daly City/Colma Chamber of Commerce and effectively maintain the relationship between the Daly City/Colma Chamber of Commerce, and other private and public organizations related to business and economic development.
• Create and foster effective business relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate business attraction and retention that will support the economic development and growth of the City.
• Identify and recommend revisions to ordinances and policies that may hinder business operations to improve economic conditions, functionality and aesthetics.
• Assist applicants, business representatives and developers in dealings with the City on the entitlement and building permit approval process and other needs.
• May assist in the recommendation of policies and programs pertaining to the fiscal and economic development of the City.
• Prepare reports and make presentations to business and community groups, City Commissions and Boards, City Council and the public.
• May prepare and administer the budget for Economic Development Program.
• Supervise and train one Economic Development Program Specialist

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of: Principals, issues and practices of economic and commercial development, redevelopment, land use planning and permitting, business retention, public policy and business development including best practices, marketing/marketing research; statistical analysis and research methods and the sources of information and data pertaining to economic development, business retention; evaluation and analysis of pro formas; the State of California Redevelopment Law; private sector development techniques; Applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations concerning economic development activity in urban areas, real estate, public land acquisition, redevelopment and land use; Federal and State Grants regulations, Grant writing and grant administration oversight and implementation experience; Effective methods of gaining consensus and building support for objectives; Principles and practices of organization, administration, budget and supervision.

This individual brings strong analytical and organizational skills, with experience in research, professional writing, and synthesizing complex information. They are detail-oriented and capable of translating data, policy analysis, and strategic priorities into clear, actionable recommendations that inform decision-making and institutional improvement.

The Ideal Candidate is comfortable managing projects, timelines, and cross-functional collaboration across diverse stakeholder groups, including faculty, staff, administrators, students, and community partners. They communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats and can tailor messaging to varied audiences.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word are essential. The Ideal Candidate is highly organized, dependable, and capable of supporting multiple concurrent initiatives and related events in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

THE POSITION OBJECTIVES/GOALS
The goals of the position are to:

1. Develop Applied Policy Analysis and Program Evaluation Expertise
Build practical skills in analyzing higher education policies and evaluating program effectiveness within a community college context. Contribute to assessment efforts by reviewing data, identifying performance gaps, and supporting evidence-based recommendations to strengthen student outcomes.

2. Gain Hands-On Experience in Strategic Plan Implementation within Student Services
Support the operationalization of institutional priorities by assisting with initiative tracking, performance measurement, and cross-department coordination. Develop a working understanding of how strategic goals are translated into measurable actions within Student Services.

3. Strengthen Institutional Capacity-Building Competencies
Enhance skills in cross-functional collaboration, systems thinking, and process improvement. Participate in efforts to streamline workflows, improve service delivery, and reinforce structures that support long-term institutional effectiveness.

4. Advance Equity-Focused Student Success Strategies
Contribute to the design, implementation, and evaluation of initiatives aimed at closing achievement gaps and improving access, retention, and completion for disproportionately impacted student populations. Develop an applied understanding of equity-centered program development in a public-serving institution.

5. Build Experience in Stakeholder Engagement and Institutional Communication
Support engagement efforts involving students, faculty, staff, administrators, and community partners. Gain experience in event coordination, briefing development, and institutional reporting to strengthen communication, transparency, and collaborative problem-solving.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 4+ years of high school
• Local Woodland knowledge preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail 
• Strong computer skills
• Ability to build and maintain trust-based relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders 
• Eligible to work in the United States
• Valid California driver license (if driving is an essential duty)

SALARY RANGE
$20.00 - $25.00 / hour dependent on experience.

The San Mateo Consolidated Fire Department is looking for a highly motivated individual to be our Management Analyst I/II. This efficient and organized team player will be responsible for complex duties including analyzing and monitoring revenue and expenditure reports, overseeing department budget, and demonstrating supervisorial skills.

What You’ll Do

• Compile, analyze, and prepare updates for the department budget and assist in the development and monitoring of budget.

• Analyze cost and revenue trends in multiple funding sources; prepare a variety of fiscal, administrative and management reports, and oversee fixed asset inventory and equipment replacement program.

• Perform research and statistical analyses on administrative, fiscal, personnel, and operational problems.

• Identify, recommend, and develop department policy changes which are submitted to the Fire Chief for final review; review and analyze operating procedures to determine if opportunities exist to streamline processes or better serve our customers and make recommendations as necessary.

• Participate in the development and installation of new or revised programs, systems, procedures, and methods of operation.

• Assist with administering contracts including those relating to department projects; monitor programs for compliance with applicable regulations.

• Represent the Department in interdepartmental, community, and professional meetings as required.
