The City of Sunnyvale is currently recruiting for an Accounting Division Manager to join the Finance Department. The Accounting Division Manager leads a team of 10.5 Full Time Equivalent positions and plans, organizes, directs and coordinates the activities of the accounting division which includes functions such as all aspects of accounting services, accounts payable, accounts receivable and debt and investment management. This position is also responsible for regulatory federal and state reporting, acts as the staff liaison with external auditors, leads the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), and provides highly complex staff assistance to the Director of Finance.

THE POSITION: This limited term position supports the Youth and Family Services Bureau (YFSB) in the Police Department to strengthen and enhance services provided to Hayward families to keep youth positively engaged in the community and out of the juvenile justice system. The Lead Program Assistant works with YSFB mental health counselors to provide case management, life skills training, diversion, restorative justice, and other services.
The limited term position is dependent on ongoing funding for the program. Funding has already been secured through FY2026 (June 30, 2026) with the possibility of an extension or permanent funding in FY 2027.

The Lead Program Assistant is a Citywide classification; current vacancies exist in the Police Department however future citywide vacancies may be filled from this recruitment. You are:

THE POSITION:

This is a division head management position at the Hayward Executive Airport, reporting to the Airport Manager. The incumbent is responsible for the management of the business and accounting functions at the airport and provides second-line supervision and direction of staff within the Airport Division. This position is distinguished from the Airport Operations Supervisor classification which is responsible for the direct supervision of staff performance of Airside and Landside operations and maintenance tasks at the airport. Position Duties:

Salary Range

The Assistant Director salary range is currently $178, 713.34 - $288, 700.62. Placement within this range will be dependent upon the qualifications and experience of the individual selected. This salary includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. The salary is supplemented by an attractive benefits package. 

The Position

Reporting to the Director, the Assistant Director serves as the Chief Operating Officer of the Environmental Services Department (ESD), overseeing a budget of approximately $550 million and seven direct reports. This executive leader provides strategic and operational direction across a broad and complex portfolio, including Integrated Waste Management, Watershed Protection, Water Resources, Wastewater Management,  Regulatory Affairs and Purified Water, Utility Financial and Business Operations, and Communications. In partnership with Deputy Directors, department leaders, and citywide stakeholders, the Assistant Director drives alignment with City priorities while ensuring regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and organizational effectiveness. Key responsibilities include leading utility rate setting, guiding long-range capital and infrastructure planning, and supporting major initiatives such as homelessness response and environmental restoration. The San Leandro Community Development Department is a dynamic and high-functioning team responsible for development services, economic development, and housing programs. Under general supervision or direction Management Analyst II, performs a variety of complex professional analytical, administrative, and technical duties in support of an assigned department’s business activities, functions, programs, and services; develops recommendations and work plans for the formation of policies and procedures for the department's operational, contractual, risk management, and financial activities; serves as a technical resource for the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of departmental initiatives; monitors and projects revenue and expenses for department activities; provides technical and responsible assistance to the department head and/or division managers; and performs related duties as assigned.

Pay rate: starting at $18.25 hourly 

Locations: Thousand Oaks, CA; Hiring Part-time, flexible hours for:

• Sports and Reservation unit - primarily Monday - Friday (may include evening and/or weekend hours)
• Thousand Oaks Community Center - variable hours (may include evening and/or weekend hours)
• Dos Vientos Community Center - variable hours (may include evening and/or weekend hours)

Summary:
Under general supervision, plan, conduct, and participate in recreational program activities according to established programs, schedules, and standards, in accordance with District policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Develop, conduct, and participate in various athletic, craft, social, cultural, and instructional activities
• Prepare facilities for programming, special events, or rental group usage
• Greet visitors, direct participants to the appropriate location, and respond to general inquiries
• Ensure safety of environment and equipment for staff, volunteers, participants, and visitors
• May open or close and secure facilities in compliance with District policies and procedures
• Issue and collect recreation equipment and supplies used by instructors, participants, or visitors
• Supervise special events, field trips, and other group activities

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and participate in promotional activities and community events
• Modify and adapt activities specific to specialized programs or populations, as appropriate
• May assist with transportation in specialized programs
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty* satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required:

Education and Experience:
Minimum age of 18 years old with a High School Diploma (or GED). At least 500 hours of experience in recreation with 15 units completed in recreation or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Certificates and Licenses:

• First Aid & CPR/AED within 90 days of employment with ability to maintain certifications thereafter as a condition of employment.
• Valid California driver’s license with a good driving record and current automobile insurance.
• Department of Justice fingerprint clearance.
• Proof of a negative TB skin test.

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to communicate effectively in English in both written and oral form. Ability to write routine correspondence using correct spelling and grammar. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply common sense and exercise good judgement in solving problems. Ability to establish effective relationships with fellow employees, volunteers, and participants and/or parents/guardians.

Fingerprint-Based Background Check:
All recreation employees are required to obtain fingerprint-based background clearance prior to their first day of employment.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
The employee may provide guidance or direction to other part-time employees and to volunteers.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in a community center or office environment subject to frequent public contact and interruption and to intermittent exposure to individuals acting in a disagreeable fashion. The noise level is usually moderate. The employee frequently works in the field in outdoor weather conditions, subject to extreme heat or cold and where the noise level may be loud. Exposure to hazardous conditions in the environment will vary depending on unit assigned.

• Plan and lead engaging lessons, games, and art projects for preschool-aged children
• Teach basic skills such as colors, shapes, and the alphabet, while helping children develop social skills
• Supervise children during indoor and outdoor play, nap time, and field trips
• Lead circle time, songs, and other fun group activities
• Prepare and serve healthy snacks and lunches
• Assist with toilet training and diaper changes as needed
• Communicate regularly with parents about their child’s progress
• Keep the classroom safe, clean, and organized
• Follow Title 22 California Childcare Licensing regulations and the City’s policies and procedures
• Support children through the stages of development for ages 2 to 5
• Apply basic first aid and follow all health, hygiene, and safety procedures
• Conduct family conferences and student evaluations; assess student skill levels and progress
• Prepare written reports as directed
• Participate in professional growth activities and trainings
• Attend school functions, in-service training, and staff meetings

What We’re Looking For

• Experience working in a preschool or childcare setting (minimum of two years preferred)
• Knowledge of early childhood development, lesson planning, and best practices for children ages 2 to 5
• Creativity, patience, and a genuine love for working with young children
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and coworkers
• High school diploma plus college coursework in early childhood development or a related field
• Minimum of 12 units of coursework in Early Childhood Education required; 24 units preferred
• Ability to maintain CPR and First Aid certification, renewed every two years
• Must pass a City of Belmont background check, including DOJ fingerprint scan and FBI clearance
• Must pass a health screening and TB test
