ABOUT THE FINANCE DEPARTMENT

Redwood City’s Finance Department shares an exceptional spirit of camaraderie, always finding ways to bring fun and laughter into the financial backbone of the organization. The Department is made up of two divisions: Revenue Services and Financial Services. The Revenue Services Division manages the City’s utility billing, including water and sewer, and collections, business license administration, tax administration, receipt and deposit of cash and accounts receivable. ABOUT THE POSITION

Under general direction from the Finance Director, plans, organizes, oversees, coordinates, and reviews the work of staff performing technical and administrative support related to revenue collection activities including tax administration, business license and other license and permit fees, and utility billing; ensures compliance with regulatory, ordinance, and code requirements related to revenue services and collection; administers current and long-term planning activities; manages the effective use of department resources to improve organizational productivity and customer service; provides highly complex and responsible support Finance Department in areas of expertise; and performs related work as required.

The City of San José Information Technology Department seeks an experienced City Information Security Officer (CISO) to lead cybersecurity Citywide initiatives.
 
The CISO will direct the Cybersecurity Office as the City’s principal executive leader for information and systems security. In partnership with the Chief Information Officer (CIO), they will manage risk identification, protection and compliance, threat detection, incident response (IR), and recovery services for all City departments to ensure business resilience.
 
The City’s CISO must be able to apply expertise in security strategy, cybersecurity frameworks, managing staff and vendor services, leading incident management, and optimizing resources to achieve desired security outcomes.
 
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Lead and mentor the Cybersecurity team, offering expertise and support to foster growth and a collaborative environment. 
• Collaborate with business units and solution providers to provide optimal security measures and achieve a balance between sustaining business operations and achieving security compliance.
• Coordinate with stakeholders within the City and partners/vendors outside of the City to ensure information and systems meet the City’s standards for threat identification, protection, and risk detection.
• Develop, operationalize, and enhance the City’s cybersecurity strategic plan, programs, policies, and architecture, including vulnerability, risk, and threat management programs through remediation.
• Conduct training programs to educate City personnel on relevant security best practices, foster diligence, and ensure compliance.
• Provide expert security guidance to City departments and officials in service planning, procurements, contract negotiations, vendor management, and project management.
• Provide expert guidance on regulations and standards (FISMA, FedRAMP, CJIS, PCI-DSS, HIPAA, etc.) the City must meet in providing municipal services, as well as security frameworks (NIST, ISO, IEEE, etc.) to shape City operations.
• Oversee and lead incident management/response processes in coordination with City departments to respond and recover from incidents.
• Resolve security-related audits in partnership with City staff.
• Ensure comprehensive security strategies align with resilience plans and emergency management exercises.
• Oversee vendor relationships and manage the City’s procurement and utilization of cybersecurity products and services across departments.
• Lead the annual Cybersecurity Assessment of the City’s technology infrastructure.
• Provide strategic and operational leadership to address cybersecurity in the City’s emerging Internet-of-Things, smart communities, privacy, and equity through data initiatives. 
• Collaborate with the Digital Privacy Officer to address privacy challenges emerging from new technologies, including AI. 
• Implement governance policies to ensure responsible AI usage across the organization, aligning with ethical standards and risk management protocols. 
• Support the GovAI Coalition’s initiatives to promote responsible and safe use of AI in government.

Position Duties

The position will coordinate media communication and public information efforts for the Council District offices. Education and/or experience in the fields of public relations, communications, journalism, public information, web design, or marketing is highly desirable. Strong writing skills, communication skills, and computer proficiency with a firm grasp of social media tools and platforms are essential in this position. As well as the ability to develop and maintain effective relations with constituents and organizations with a positive and professional demeanor when working in public. Bilingual language skills (Vietnamese, Spanish, and/or Chinese), both oral and written, are desirable, but not required.
 
Responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Designing flyers, graphics, and material for community and public information.
• Updating and designing web and social media content. 
• Collaborating with staff on ideas for media and communication outreach to disseminate the Councilmember’s message to various audiences.

Join our team of dedicated staff working in the special events division of Redwood City’s Parks, Recreation, & Community Services Department. Team members will assist in setting up, monitoring, and breaking down events all while providing excellent customer service.

 

Redwood City is known for delivering a large variety of high-quality special events year-round including concerts, festivals, cultural events, kids concerts, pop up recreational activities, and more. Duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following: follow event plan and execute assigned duties effectively and efficiently; understand proper setup and breakdown procedures of special events equipment; maintain and care for equipment as necessary; monitor program areas for quality assurance; operate effectively as a member of a team;  report to supervisors orally and in writing; complete assigned paperwork such as timecards and incident and/or accident reports.

GENERAL INFO

Under general supervision, the Recreation Leader I/II provides essential support to recreation programs and services by performing custodial tasks, event setup and teardown, program support, and minor maintenance duties at various facilities, including parks and community centers. This temporary, parttime position requires working up to 20 hours per week. The role involves ensuring the facilities are clean, safe, and operational while delivering excellent customer service. Performs other duties as assigned. 

 

UNIVERSAL POSITION DUTIES (Illustrative purposes only)

• Organize, inventory, and maintain facility materials and equipment.
• Assist in organizing and supervising recreational programs in any one or more of the following areas: children, adults, senior citizens, and participants with special needs at playgrounds, community centers, and other recreational areas.

· Strength is needed to lift and carry recreation equipment weighing up to 50 pounds for extended periods of time; and flexibility to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects

· Responsibilities include keeping score for youth, recreation, and middle school sporting events using various digital and analog forms of tracking methods

· Track score of youth sporting events via scoreboard technology or statistics booklet

· Organize, track and set-up specific sports equipment (i.e. volleyball poles and nets, basketball hoops and benches)

· Receives general supervision from the Youth and Adult Sports Coordinator

  A minimum of one year of technical or professional experience in human resources is highly desirable. Experience in a public sector setting is a plus.
