We are accepting applications on a continuous basis for the position of Police Officer (Entry-Level, Academy Graduate, or Out-of-State Lateral).

RECRUITMENT PROCESS 

• Step 1: Apply 
  • Applicants must attach a passing PELLETB or NTN  score when applying.
  • Scores that are within one year of the application date and that meet the minimum passing score will be accepted. Applicants can take and submit results for either of the two tests below.
    • NTN Law Enforcement Exam: Minimum passing score of 65% for video, 70% for reading and 70% for writing. Virtual and in-person options are available for NTN. A screenshot of your NTN scores must be attached to your application.
    • POST Entry-Level Law Enforcement Test Battery (PELLETB): Minimum passing score of 49.
• Step 2: Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ) 
• Step 3: Oral Board Interview 
• Step 4: Management Panel Interview
• Step 5: Physical Agility Test (waived for academy graduates)
  • We accept WSTB results, which must be within one year of application date and meet the minimum passing score of 320.
• Step 6: Polygraph

• Step 8: Executive Panel Interview 
• Step 9: Conditional Offer (Final job offer is dependent on the Medical and Psychological evaluations)

DESCRIPTION 

The City of Thousand Oaks Community Development Department is excited to announce a rewarding career opportunity for a motivated Associate Planner to join our dynamic team! As an Associate Planner, you will play a key role in shaping the community’s future by managing a variety of current and long-range planning projects.  Working under general supervision, you will:   

• Conduct professional Planning work involving land use, zoning, and community development.  

• Review, analyze, and process development applications of moderate to complex scope.  

• Prepare and present staff reports, plans, and recommendations to decision-making bodies. 

• Collaborate with residents, businesses, and stakeholders to promote thoughtful growth. 

• Contribute to long-range plans and projects that align with the City’s General Plan and vision.  

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Manage and process applications for development projects, including residential, mixed-use, commercial, industrial, and institutional proposals.  

• Facilitate in-person and virtual permit submittals.  

• Respond to phone and email inquiries. 

• Consult and advise property owners, architects, engineers, contractors, and the public regarding applications, City policies, codes, and other plans.   

• Prepare clear and concise technical documents, reports, correspondence and other written materials.  

• Exercise sound independent judgement.  

• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those encountered in the course of work.   

• Attend and present information to City Council, Planning Commission, Administrative Hearing Officer, and community meetings as assigned.  

• Plans, organizes and conducts research studies and prepares recommendations regarding land use, zoning, urban design, population trends, transportation, housing and environmental needs, updates and analyzes demographic and other data required for the planning function, participates in the review, development or revision of the various of the General Plan, environmental impact reports, plans, ordinance and other policies and procedures.  

• Independently performs responsible and varied professional planning duties.  

• Provide sound recommendations based on detailed analysis and project evaluation.

Pay: $35.31 Hourly during academy attendance

$91,811 Annually upon successful completion of the academy

Hiring Bonus $5,000 upon Academy Graduation, and $5,000 after successful completion of Probationary Period ($10,000 total)

Upon successful completion of POST Academy, the position becomes a full-time probationary Police Officer position

The City of Sausalito Police Department is seeking empathetic, driven, collaborative Police Officer Trainees. The Police Officer Trainee learns to enforce Federal, State, and local laws and to respond to calls for the protection of life and property by attending a basic Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certified training academy to obtain the basic skills and fitness level necessary for the performance of Police Officer duties. This position requires a thorough background investigation, a polygraph/voice stress analysis examination, a psychological assessment, and a medical exam prior to appointment.

The Public Works Department is responsible for operating, maintaining, and improving the City’s public infrastructure – streets, water, storm, public buildings, the City’s fleet, trees, parks, and traffic signals. The Department also reviews plans and inspects construction of public improvements to serve private residential and commercial development and plans the capital and operating budgets.
