The Position:

The Combination Inspector is responsible for performing the building, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical inspections.  Each Inspector may be assigned to one or more of the following Programs or specialties: Code Enforcement, Building, Electrical, Permit Center, and Plumbing & Mechanical.

The annual salary range for this position is $125,115.24 - $159,613.32 annually. This position may be filled at or near the minimum of the salary range.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Education Requirements:

Graduation from high school or possession of a G.E.D.

Minimum Experience Requirements:

Five (5) years of experience as a journey person in the building construction or related trades

OR

Three (3) years of experience as a Combination Inspector in a city or county inspection jurisdiction

OR

Possession of a State of California license as a general (B-l) or electrical (C-10) or plumbing (C-36) or heating, ventilating, air conditioning (C-20) contractor for a minimum of two (2) years

License/Certifications:

Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is required. 

Certification by the International Code Council or other recognized agency, as a Building, Electrical, Plumbing, or Mechanical Inspector is required within one (1) year of appointment and for continued employment in this class

To perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled work involving the trimming, removal, installation and general maintenance of trees.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current vacancy in the Community Services Department, as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
The Ideal Candidate will possess an in-depth knowledge of practices and procedures identified by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) as they relate to a municipal setting. The Ideal Candidate will also possess good communication, customer service and writing skills, as well as demonstrate competence working with computers and related software, e.g., maintenance management and MS Outlook. Additionally, they will have a strong work ethic, ability to climb trees, work out of an aerial truck, be available to work overtime and perform standby duty as needed. The Ideal Candidate should have knowledge in operating chain and hand saws, operating a chipper, a background in landscaping with planting trees, and experience with setting-up and tearing-down of traffic control. The Ideal Candidate also has knowledge of safety & best management practices used in operating and maintaining tree pruning equipment and trucks.

Tree Trimmer I:
This is the entry level class in the Tree Trimmer series.  Positions in this class will usually perform most of the duties required of Tree Trimmers I and II; however, as compared to the Tree Trimmer II, is not expected to function at the same skill level and will usually exercise less independent discretion and judgment on matters related to work procedures and methods.

Tree Trimmer II:
This is the journey level class in the Tree Trimmer series.  This class differs from Tree Trimmer I in that incumbent performs more complex duties.  This incumbent Tree Trimmer II may also be expected to assist in the oversight and training of less experienced personnel.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Prune trees and shrubbery to provide clearance of streets, sidewalks, signs, and lights, and as necessary to ensure continued health of the plant.  Remove fallen trees, dead limbs, and other debris resulting from storm damage and general conditions.  Participate in the large-scale application of herbicides and pesticides.  Clean and maintain trimming equipment.  Work both independently and as a crew member in removing trees and stumps.  Plant, stake, spray and inject trees.  Operate a chipper, aerial truck, mist sprayer and miscellaneous equipment which could include routers, loaders, forklifts, and dump trucks.  Use a variety of hand tools including hand saws, pole saws, chain saws, and pole loppers.  Regular and consistent attendance.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
May perform street drainage maintenance or other public works maintenance work when not assigned to tree trimming duties.  Respond to emergency situations after regular working hours.   Perform related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Tree Trimmer I
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Six (6) months of work experience involving tree maintenance or landscaping work including some tree trimming.

License and Certificate: Required upon hire, possession of a valid California driver's license.  Must obtain a valid Class B California driver’s license, Work Zone Safety I certificate from the International Municipal Signal Association (or Department approved equivalent), First Aid and CPR certification prior to permanent appointment.

Tree Trimmer II
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Eighteen (18) months of work experience involving tree maintenance work including pruning, trimming and caring for trees.

License and Certificate: Required upon hire, possession of a valid Class B California Driver's License.  Possession of a Work Zone Safety I certificate from the International Municipal Signal Association (or Department approved equivalent), First Aid and CPR certification prior to permanent appointment.  Possession of a Certified Commercial Applicator license from the State of California and Certification as an Arborist by the International Society of Arboriculture is highly desirable.

The City of Lincoln is hiring up to 20 part-time Water Safety Instructors within the Recreation Department.  This position may require you to work various days, weekends or evenings.

Seasonal employees are limited to working no more than 999 hours in a fiscal year.

Under the direct or general supervision of the Recreation Coordinator, performs a variety of duties to supervise the pool, decks, and additional areas of an aquatic facility; and provides swimming instruction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Include but are not limited to the following:

• Maintain constant surveillance as assigned to safeguard swimmers from drowning and other accidents.
• Maintain discipline and orderly conduct among patrons and enforce all pertinent City pool rules and regulations in order to maintain a safe environment. 
• Promote and enforce water safety procedures; effect swimming rescues; render first aid and CPR as required. 
• Assist in the planning, promoting and organizing of prescribed Red Cross programs and special events. 
• Perform pool facility maintenance functions as required. 
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees, and the public using principles of good customer service. 
• Prepare and maintain accurate and up-to-date records and reports.
• Conduct classes at all participant levels (beginning through advanced) and supervise students and swim lesson aide (s).  
• Prepare daily lesson plans for assigned swim instruction classes.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Perform heavy manual labor; learn to operate a variety of equipment; work with tools related to recreational maintenance. The position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The incumbent needs to have the ability to hear and speak for purposes of communication. The position also requires both near and far vision when administering programs and operating equipment. The need to lift, carry and push equipment and supplies weighing 25 pounds or more is also required. The incumbent in this outdoor position works in all weather conditions, including wet, hot, and cold.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILLS

The City of Orinda Parks and Recreation Department is currently seeking two (2) qualified individuals with the passion and desire to work with youth campers as a summer Camp Coordinator (Recreation Program Specialist) in the Parks and Recreation Department.   This position takes direction from the Camp Director and reports to the City's full-time Recreation Coordinator.

Interviews for the Camp Coordinator positions will be done on an individual basis.  For consideration, please apply early for these opportunities.

MANDATORY TRAINING:  Must be available for paid training on Saturday, May 30, 2026. Additional training will occur int he mornings during the week of June 1 - June 5, 2026.

SUMMER CAMP SEASON:  Must be available for summer camp season June 1 - August 7, 2026.

WORK HOURS:  Work hours vary depending on the number of staff and youth participants.  Approximate work hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Incumbents of the position will provide their own transportation to program site(s). 

Supervision:

Under the general supervision of the Recreation Coordinator and Camp Director, Camp Coordinators are responsible for the day-to-day operations of their assigned summer day camp:  executing weekly curriculums by ordering supplies, supervising their camp staff, and leading all of their camp activities on a daily basis.  The City of Orinda offers two city-run camps:  Camp Orinda and Camp Orinda Jr.

Camp Orinda is a full-day (9:00 am to 4:00 pm) traditional camp for 6 to 11 year olds.

Camp Orinda Jr. is a half-day camp (9:15 am to 12:45 pm) for 3 1/2 to 5-year olds.

Essential Duties:

• Execute the camp curriculum in accordance with the Camp Director and Recreation Coordinator.
• Lead arts, crafts and games according to the theme of the week.
• Participate in weekly camp debriefs with Camp Director.
• Offer leadership, guidance and direction to Camp Counselors.
• Supervise Counselors-in-Training (CIT), pair CIT's with experienced Camp Counselors, and delegate CIT weekly duties during CIT camp week.
• Serve as a mentor and role model to campers and communicate effectively with guardians and families.
• Safely and appropriately supervise all campers.  Camp Orinda Coordinator will supervise campers on weekly field trips around the East Bay.
• Monitor supplies and create weekly supply list.
• Ensure the health and safety of all campers are prioritized in all summer camp programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

All City of Orinda employees are expected to uphold and exhibit the City’s core values including serving the public, being respectful and accountable, maintaining professionalism, and demonstrating responsibility.

Education: Must have completed at least eleventh (11) grade or graduated from high school by the start of camp.  High school or college-level coursework in Recreation, Sports, Administration, Human Development, Education or related field is preferred.  

Experience: Recreation, athletics and/or education experience is desirable.  Experience teaching and/or working with children and youth age twelve (12) and under is preferred.

Licenses/Certifications: CPR, First Aid, and AED training and/or certification are required prior to the first day of camp.  There will be a CPR, First Aid and AED training at the May 30, 2026 training for any staff that is not certified by this date.

Special Requirements:   This is a mandated reporter position.  Appointment to this position is contingent upon:

• A valid work permit issued from school (if under age 18 and have not graduated from high school or received a State Certificate of Proficiency).

PROGRAM LEADER (Youth Services/Kids’ Night Out/Kids Day Out Programs)

Salary Range: $17.37 to $23.15/hour (DOE)

Part-time temporary, non-benefitted position; 10 hours per month in Kids’ Night Out Program and Bi-monthly Friday night availability (6-11 pm) required. Additional shifts are available on San Ramon Unified School District days off school, during recreation pop ups, and special events. (not-to-exceed 950 hours per fiscal year)

GENERAL DUTIES

Under the general supervision of the Youth Program Coordinator, Youth Services staff is responsible for supervision and safety within the bi-monthly Kids’ Night Out and Kids Day Out Program, including implementing a variety of crafts, games and activities for youth ages 5 to 11.  As a Youth Services staff member, you will:

• Gain experience leading arts, crafts, games, and activities;
• Serve as a mentor and role model to youth;
• Learn to work as part of a team and lead activities;
• Acquire skills to safely and appropriately supervise youth in a staff-to-youth ratio environment.
• Assist with recreation pop ups and special events
• Other duties as assigned

Specific to Youth Services:

• Plan and execute duties related to special interest classes, school-year and seasonal programs, and special events.

A Dispatcher I is a civilian employee of the Police Department who performs a variety of tasks in the Department’s Support Services Division. The Dispatcher I receives incoming calls for police assistance and response; acts as a primary Dispatcher when appropriate; performs a variety of general support duties related to police communications; completes a wide variety of general clerical duties.

Examples of Duties:

The Dispatcher I duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Answer emergency and non-emergency police related phone calls, help prioritize requests for service based upon available resources, receive radio requests and handle accordingly, type, process and file a wide variety of reports and materials including memos, letters, complaints, declarations, warrants, citations, crime and traffic reports.  Assists Department personnel and the public in person and by phone performing record checks, collecting fees and mailing requested reports to outside agencies in accordance with established regulations.   A Dispatcher I may be assigned to work various hours, shifts, holidays, weekends and overtime.

Typical Qualifications:

A combination of education and work experience including 2-3 years of general office work involving typing of varied materials, public contact, general filing and basic record keeping; type at least 40 wpm net.  Knowledge of business English, spelling; modern office practices and procedures; record keeping. Ability to learn assigned clerical tasks readily and to adhere to prescribed routine; write English legibly; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public; type and learn the operation of other standard office equipment; a willingness to work varying shifts; and to learn radio dispatching skills.

 Creation of Bicycle Advisory Commission      

A Bicycle Advisory Commission of the Town of Danville is hereby established.  The Commission shall consist of six (6) regular members, one of whom shall be a Youth Commissioner as defined in Section 2-15.11 below.

Qualifications

All members of the Commission shall have experience, training, occupation, or education demonstrating a knowledge of and interest in bicycling.  Members of the Commission shall represent an inclusive cross-section of interests in bicycling such as recreational cyclists (road and mountain biking), commuters, families, seniors and youth, and merchants interested in cycling and cycling safety.

Powers and Duties

Advise the Town Council and Town Staff on matters related to:

1. Implementation of the Town’s Bicycle Master Plan;
2. Conditions, operations and safety of existing bicycle facilities and other non-motorized forms of transportation;
3. Review of proposed bicycle-related policies, programs, projects, plans, funding applications, and legislation;
4. Coordination with the public including bicycle-related organizations, the business community, and other local agencies to promote cycling projects and programs; and
5. Development and dissemination of bicycle awareness and education materials to the community.

Term of Office

For the initial five appointments to the Commission except the Youth Commissioner, two of the members shall be appointed to two-year terms and three shall be appointed to four-year terms.  All subsequent appointments shall be for four-year terms.  The term of the Youth Commissioner shall be two years.

Time and Place of Regular Meetings

The Commission shall hold at least one regular quarterly meeting.  The Commission shall fix the time and place of its regular meetings by resolution and may call special meetings as necessary.  All meetings of the Commission are open to the public and the Commission shall give notice of its meetings as required by law.

Absence from Meetings

If a member of the Commission is absent without cause from three (3) consecutive regular meetings of the Commission, that member’s office shall be vacant automatically. The Commission shall immediately notify the Town Council of the vacancy. A member is not absent without cause if that member’s absence is (1) due to illness or (2) unavoidable, and the member gives the Secretary of the Commission notice before the day of the regular meeting at which the member will be absent and giving the reason for the absence. 

Removal or Vacancy

A member of the Commission may be removed by a majority vote of the Council.  A vacancy is filled in the same manner as the original appointment.  A person appointed to fill a vacancy serves for the remainder of the unexpired term.  

No Compensation

Members of the Commission shall not receive compensation for their attendance at Commission meetings but are entitled to reimbursement for reasonable expenses actually incurred in the course of their duties, provided that such reimbursement shall first be approved by the Town Council. 

Adoption of Rules

The Commission shall adopt rules for the transaction of its business and shall keep a public record of its resolutions, transactions, findings, and determinations. 

Residency Requirement

All members of the Commission shall be residents of the Town of Danville.

Qualifications and Role of Youth Commissioner

The Town Council shall appoint a Youth Commissioner to serve on the Commission to represent the interests of Danville youth. The Youth Commissioner shall be a Danville resident of high school age. The Youth Commissioner shall have the same obligations and authority of all other commissioners.

Officers and their Duties

The Commission shall elect a Chair and Vice-Chair from among its members. The Chair and the Vice-Chair serve for a term of one (1) year and until the successor of each is appointed and qualified.  The Chair shall preside at all meetings of the Commission, shall appoint committees of the Commission as needed, and shall perform such additional duties as are necessary and incidental to the office.  The Vice-Chair shall perform the duties of the Chair on such occasions as the Chair shall be unavailable or unable to perform such duties.

Brown Act and Conflicts of Interest

The Commission shall be subject to and conduct its business in compliance with the Ralph M. Brown Act, California Government Code, Section 54950 et seq. The members of the Commission shall be subject to the provisions of the Town’s Conflict of Interest Code.
