Job Description:  

The City Manager’s Office has a full-time, 40 hours per week, non-benefited summer internship opportunity. The main function of the job is to perform municipal research and analytical work on an entry-level professional basis.

 

The workload will be a balance of assisting in daily municipal operations and special projects. Duties may include, but are not limited to, town-wide capital inventory, risk management, citizens’ requests, record management, benchmarking, policy analysis and research, and govern a technology assessment. Best qualified candidates, depending on level (Assistant, Staff, Senior), will have a Bachelors Degree and between at least one (1) to three (3) years of previous experience developing affordable housing using Federal and State funding sources, pro formas and financial model analysis, and reviewing and negotiating real estate development transactional documents. Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training and other job related qualifications. Based upon a review of employment applications received, a limited number of the qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the examination process.

The process will consist of an Oral Panel Interview (weighted 80%) and a written exercise (weighted 20%). An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 70% or higher. Current and future vacancies may be filled from this list. Description

The Department of Public Works is seeking well-qualified candidates for the position of Wastewater Collection Supervisor.
 
The Wastewater Collection Supervisor serves as first-line working supervisor, having responsibility for overseeing a crew of Wastewater Collection Workers in the operation and maintenance of sanitary sewer facilities of the ten County-owned sewer maintenance and sanitation districts. The Supervisor will coordinate, direct, and participate in the activities of the crew and administrative staff; utilize the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for scheduling work and indicating work that has been completed; operate a variety of light construction equipment and wastewater collection system maintenance equipment; and perform related duties as assigned.
 
The ideal candidate for this position will have at least two years of experience leading or supervising a crew of workers and laborers performing sanitary sewer maintenance work.
   
 The ideal candidate will also have the following:

• Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with practices, procedures, materials, tools, and equipment used in the operation, maintenance, and repair of sanitary sewer facilities 
• Experience in conducting sanitary sewer system inspections (sewer laterals and mainlines) and preparing related reports
• Ability to organize office work, manage day-to-day tasks, and interpret and implement instructions, policies, and procedures
• Knowledge and experience with computerized maintenance management systems
• Familiarity with GIS

• Participate in an "on-call" rotation and be available to assist for work in emergencies outside of normal working hours.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Licensure/Certification:

• Possession of a Class B California driver license with both air brake and tank endorsement; AND
• Possession of a Grade III Collection System Maintenance Certification through the California Water Environment Association’s (CWEA) Technical Certification Program.

 
Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to qualify is:

• Four years of experience in road maintenance and construction work, including two years of experience with sanitary sewer collection and water distribution systems.

The Town of Los Altos Hills is recruiting a college intern to work in the Community Development Department. The intern will split time between the planning and building divisions of CDD. The role for planning will include support of both short range and long range planning.  Interns working on long range planning will work primarily as a research aide for the Town’s 2023-2031 certified Housing Element implementation.  For short range planning and the building division support interns will be focused on day to day permit activities, but may also work on other more general department duties as needed.

The salary range for this position is $145,678.08 – $185,797.44.   This position may be filled at or near the minimum of the salary range. 

Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Education/Experience Requirements: 

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with: 
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering from a college or university that is accredited by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET).

               OR

• • Possession of a State of California Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T.) Certificate and at least 1 year of experience in electrical or mechanical engineering office and/or field work, and Experience using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Mathlab).

License/Certifications: 

Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is required at time of appointment and for the duration of employment.

 

Desirable Qualifications: 

• Registration as an Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineer in the State of California.
• Experience using ESRI based Geographic Information System (GIS).

 

Other Requirements:  

• Must be able to perform all of the essential functions of the job assignment.
• May be required to work shifts, weekends, and odd and unusual hours in the performance of duties and emergency situations.

The City of Menlo Park's Information Technology team is seeking a temporary IT Specialist who has a broad range of support skills to provide day to day computer/desktop support, end-point configuration and management, helpdesk support and management, and maintain and troubleshoot various systems hardware, software, peripherals, A/V, telephones and mobile devices. Support to be provided onsite throughout the City at physical workstations, as well as via phone, video, email and internet.
