PART-TIME LIBRARIAN I/LIBRARY ASSISTANT I

The Mill Valley Public Library is looking for a part-time librarian who is passionate about public service, shows initiative, and has a strong work ethic to work the adult reference desk. This is a great opportunity to get experience in reference work and assisting patrons with their needs. You will work in a very fast-paced, collaborative environment.  

ESTIMATED NUMBER OF HOURS:

Will work at least one shift per week with additional sub hours available. Applicant must be able to work Saturday (9:15am - 5:15pm) and/or Sunday (11:30am - 5pm) and one weeknight until 8pm. 

Salary: $24.77 - $41.04/hour depending on experience and education.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

Staffing the Adult Reference Desk is the primary responsibility of this position. A knowledge of literature or the desire to read widely is essential in making book recommendations and understanding types of computers and assisting with technology troubleshooting is crucial. The Mill Valley Library is fast-paced and innovative; the person in this position needs to learn new skills quickly, adapt easily to change, be detail-oriented, and patron focused. Many part-time staff are cross trained to work in other Library departments as needed.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

• Provide reference services including readers’ advisory. 
• Provide excellent customer service to all patrons with consistency and in line with library policies.
• Assist patrons troubleshooting technological issues on both library computers and personal devices.
• Help with programming as needed.
• Additional duties based on interests and demonstrated quality of work.

The Legislative and Regulatory Manager is responsible for organizing, assigning, reviewing and participating in the performance of a wide range of professional duties related to Pioneer Community Energy regulatory and legislative matters, with particular emphasis on representation of Pioneer’s interests at the California Public Utilities; develops Pioneer’s positions on complex issues; and develops analyses, written reports, and presentation materials to support Pioneer’s position. Duties include:

• Planning, prioritizing, and reviewing the performance of professional staff involved in the research and analysis of legislation and regulatory issues.
• Developing methods and schedules to accomplish assignments, ensuring work is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
• Tracking complex legislation and regulations through multiple amendments and preparing drafts of legislative and regulatory updates on policy issues and programs.
• Performing a variety of complex research projects on legislative and regulatory policy issue areas; preparing and presenting findings and recommendations of Pioneer's position.
• Representing Pioneer in regulatory proceedings through preparation of data requests, written responses, position papers, analytical models, testimony, and exhibits.
• Reviewing and drafting comments and briefs, providing high level technical and/or analytic input on regulatory and legislative matters.
• Overseeing the preparation of data requests, testimony, and hearing exhibits and participating in administrative hearings.
• Tracking, reviewing, analyzing and summarizing filings prepared by utilities and other entities that could impact Pioneer and its customers.
• Coordinating and working closely with technical experts and external regulatory counsel to develop effective and persuasive communications before the CPUC, CA Energy Commission, CA Legislature and any other legal or regulatory body as may be needed.

Qualified candidates will possess knowledge of California electric utility regulatory issues, CPUC regulatory practices, protocols and procedures; California utility rate design, electric resource planning, demand resources solutions and regulatory relations; and procedures, operations, and functions of legislative and regulatory agencies, including processes for the promulgation of regulations.

THE POSITION

The Police Dispatcher/Clerk is a non-sworn technical and complex clerical support classification associated with law enforcement support services assigned in the Town Police Department.  Police Dispatcher/Clerks learn and perform a variety of responsible records management, communications and dispatching duties for emergency and non-emergency calls for service. 

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Dispatches police officers to calls for service
• Provides assistance, information and directions to non-emergency callers including but not limited to police, fire, paramedic, animal control and public utilities calls for service, forwards non-emergency calls to proper personnel or departments
• Maintains awareness of field unit activities; communicates with field units through radio in accordance with Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations; maintains status and location of units on patrol
• Retrieves information from State and National computer networks regarding wanted persons, stolen property, vehicle registration, stolen vehicles and other related information
• Enters call information into computer systems; logs and completes call forms, maintains records of calls for service and self-initiated officer activities
• Assists the public at the front counter; provides information and responds to general inquiries

The Director of Public Works is a regular, full-time, administrative, at-will, exempt position. Under general administrative direction, plans, directs, manages, and oversees the activities and operations of the Public Works Services Department including street maintenance, facility maintenance, landscape maintenance, equipment maintenance, wastewater collection and treatment, and water production and distribution; coordinates assigned activity with to other departments and outside agencies; and provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to the City Manager.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

Assume full management responsibility for all Public Works Department services and activities; manage the development and implementation of departmental goals, objectives, and priorities for each assigned service area; recommend and administer policies and procedures. 2. Establish, within City policy, appropriate service and staffing levels; monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; allocate resources accordingly. 3. Assess and monitor work load, administrative and support systems, and internal reporting relationships; identify opportunities for improvement; direct and implement changes. 4. QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of: Operations, services, and activities of a comprehensive public works operations and maintenance program. Advanced principles and practices involved in the operation and maintenance of City infrastructure including: street, sidewalk, and storm drain maintenance; park and facility maintenance; wastewater collection system maintenance; wastewater treatment and disposal; water supply and distribution system maintenance; vehicle and equipment maintenance; and other services and activities related to the operation and maintenance of the City’s infrastructure. Operational characteristics of maintenance and construction equipment and tools used in the area of assignment. Advanced principles and practices of program development and administration. Principles and practices of municipal budget preparation and administration. Education and Experience Guidelines - Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education/Training: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business administration, public administration, construction management, engineering, or a related field.

Experience: Eight years of increasingly responsible experience in public sector construction management, public works maintenance management, or related activity including three years of management and administrative responsibility in a municipal setting. License or Certificate: Possession of an appropriate, valid driver’s license.

This position performs a variety of maintenance, operations, and repair work on the City's water distribution system, including pumps, mains, chlorinators, meters, and other equipment. 

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

Work is performed in a variety of different environments with exposure to varying weather conditions including high temperatures, rain, and wind. Work is performed with exposure to hazardous materials, smoke, gasses, and fumes; with exposure to hazards such as, moving machine parts and live electrical current; and exposure to loud and/or high frequency noise. THE POSITION

Tri-City Mental Health Authority is currently hiring to fill one (1) full-time vacancy for the position of Clinical Supervisor I/II within the Mobile Crisis Care Program (MCCP). Tri-City’s MCCP is a 24/7 mobile crisis response team with shifts that may include evenings, weekends, daytime hours, and holidays.

The MCCP Clinical Supervisor I/II will be part of a team that provides crisis intervention and stabilization, linkage and referral, consultation, and education within the scope of practice. The MCCP Clinical Supervisor I/II will report to the Mobile Crisis Care Clinical Program Manager.

This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities including, but not limited to:

• Respond to client (Full-Service Partnership and Adult and Children’s Outpatient Programs and other specialty mental health services) crisis calls with or without law enforcement;
   
• Perform field-based and telephone emergency mental health evaluations and crisis stabilization in accordance with agency procedure.
   
•  Provide crisis intervention and stabilization services to individuals, groups, and families;
   
•  Identify treatment needs and make appropriate referrals for necessary services;
   
•  Perform triage and linkages to non-client community members in the Tri-City catchment areas.
   
•  The Clinical Supervisor incumbent must be available for consultation during and following crisis calls  as well as to fill in when back-up is needed in the field during scheduled work hours.

Under the supervision of the Fire Marshal, is responsible for performing plan review, construction inspections, and other duties as required.   The position will also be involved to varying degrees with public education, public relations, exterior hazard abatement, engine company pre-fire planning, record keeping, and report writing.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

This position is responsible for the review of plans, to ensure compliance with applicable Federal, State, and local fire safety laws, ordinances, and codes. Although not all inclusive the following serve to represent the various types of plans to be reviewed: planning applications; applications for the subdivision of land; site plans for access and water supply; building and tenant improvement plans; fire protection systems including fire sprinkler, fire alarm, kitchen hood extinguishing systems; and other types of plan reviews that are part of various fire code permitted activities.

The position is responsible for performing inspections related to the project and plan review of both new and existing buildings; witnessing various tests required for sophisticated fire protection equipment and verifying proper operation and compliance with applicable codes and standards; prepares necessary correspondence, reports and records; with regards to projects confers with architects, engineers, developers, etc.; attends training courses and meetings of professional organizations as directed. 

Other duties include: attending meetings with other local government agencies such as planning and building departments, architects, contractors, developers, and the general public.  Utilizes the District’s citation process when appropriate and when other means of gaining voluntary compliance are unsuccessful. Provides supervision, work direction and technical assistance as directed. Utilizes tools and technology identified by the District related to performance of tasks. Performs surveys of fire hazards and processes complaints; conducts and participates in public education and public relations programs; performs other related duties as directed.
