THE DEPARTMENT

The South San Francisco Public Library is a full-service library committed to delivering quality services to a diverse community.  Library services are available at three sites, including the Main Library (901 Civic Campus Way), the Grand Avenue Library (306 Walnut Avenue) and the Gene Mullin Community Learning Center (520 Tamarack Lane).  Lifelong literacy services are provided by Project Read at the Main Library and the Gene Mullin Community Learning Center (GMCLC).

THE POSITION

This classification is distinguished from all other Library classifications by its responsibility for program development and implementation in coordinating the day-to-day operation of a literacy program, and by the degree of initiative and independence necessary to oversee the coordination of resources and materials. Incumbents must exercise considerable initiative and judgment, have good communication and assessment skills, and be able to work accurately and independently.

POSITION:
This classification is distinguished from all other classes by its responsibility in carrying out day-to-day digital communications functions and supporting the City’s public information program. The incumbent exercises independent judgment in content development, organization, and publishing, and is expected to perform a significant portion of work independently. This position is responsible for executing communications initiatives and supporting the implementation of citywide communication strategies as directed by the City Manager’s designee. This classification does not exercise direct supervision but may provide technical guidance to staff.

Community Development Department - 1 position

The Management Analyst (Technology Project Manager) will serve as the department’s strategic technology lead, driving innovation, operational improvement, and digital service delivery across Community Development. This position manages major enterprise systems such as Accela Civic Platform, oversees internal process improvement initiatives, leads technology-focused policy initiatives, oversees customer-facing tools and communications in partnership with internal teams, and acts as the primary liaison to IT and other departments for technology implementation. This position receives direction from Assistant Director, and supervises Business Analysts specializing in Accela Operations, and Enterprise Knowledge.

The role requires a unique blend of systems thinking, project management, user-centered design, and policy insight to shape the tools and workflows used by planners, permit technicians, inspectors, plan checkers, and external customers. 

The ideal candidate will have the following:

• Strong project management skills 
• Comfort leading cross-functional initiatives from concept to completion.
• Experience with permit management systems (Accela preferred), data integration, and process improvement in a government or regulated environment.

• Lead efforts to improve the permitting experience through process mapping, stakeholder engagement, and implementation of low-code and no-code solutions.
• Represent the department in citywide initiatives related to website modernization, customer communications, and civic technology strategy.
• Lead policy research and development for emerging technology topics such as AI, serving as a resource to department leadership.

his position requires a highly agile and responsive professional capable of operating in a fast-paced environment. The role demands the ability to manage competing priorities, adapt to rapidly evolving and high-demand conditions, and provide timely procurement support to the City’s Electric Department, Silicon Valley Power.

• Considerable knowledge of principles and procedures related to purchasing,
• Considerable knowledge of contract administration, including solicitation methods including RFQs, RFBs, and RFPs,

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City Public Works Services Department invites you to apply for the position of Public Works Maintenance Worker III Equipment Operator in the Right-of-Way Division. The Right-of-Way Division is responsible for maintenance of the City’s public right-of-way including streets and roadways, parking lots, roadway markings and painting, streetlights, traffic signals and signs, and street cleaning.  

The position will report to the Public Works Field Supervisor and will serve as a skilled maintenance worker operating a variety of heavy equipment in the construction and maintenance of public right-of-way- assets, assist in scheduling and reviewing work, perform a variety of skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance, repair streets and sidewalks, and occasionally lead a field crew in assigned work. The Judicial Council of California is accepting applications for the position of Fiscal Supervisor for Budget Services.   

The Fiscal Supervisor over the Court Budget Unit (CBU) in the Budget Services office plans, organizes, supervises, reviews, and evaluates the work of assigned staff responsible to support all aspects of budget development and implementation for the 58 trial courts. About the Division

The City’s Planning Division provides oversight and assistance towards the City's growth and development in relation to regulations related to land use, zoning, development standards, urban village plans, and environmental impacts. The goal is to encourage development that strives for safety, high quality of living standards, and support of the health, inclusion, and wellbeing of all persons living and working in San Jose.  

The Division is seeking applicants for the Planning Technician classification. This is a full-time position that is responsible for providing the public with information about land use regulations and permitting requirements and directly assisting customers through the permit application process by completing the initial processing of applications. This includes, but is not limited to, the calculation of application fees, determination of application completeness, data input into the City's permitting system database, creation of maps, and routing electronic plans and documents to other City departments and outside agencies for review. 

The Planning Division is divided into four teams: 

• Permit Center: The Permit Center team focuses on public information services, administrative-level staff reviews for development projects, and zoning compliance reviews for building permits. 
• Development Review: The Development Review team is responsible for processing rezonings and development permits, historic preservation, and community outreach. 
• Environmental Review: The Environmental Review team fulfills requirements under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) for assessing environmental impacts for public and private projects, ensures environmental mitigation compliance, and implements the Santa Clara Valley Habitat Conservation Plan.? 
• Citywide Planning: The Citywide Planning team focuses on long-range planning, including General Plan updates and amendments, zoning and sign ordinance amendments, preparation of urban village plans, housing policies, data analytics, and community engagement. 

What We Do 

The Department’s Planning Division ensures compliance with the above-mentioned obligations by annually reviewing, analyzing, conducting, researching, processing, and issuance of: 

• 4,000 zoning compliance reviews for building permits; 
• Over 150 commercial, industrial, residential, and mixed-use development permits; 
• Over 500 of environmental clearance reviews for public and private projects, including approximately 4 to 8 Environmental Impact Reports, 20 to 30 Negative Declarations/Mitigated Negative Declarations, and over 150 exemptions; 
• Over 50 zoning changes; 
• Multiple General Plan Amendments, ordinance amendments, urban village plans, and land use policies; and 
• Over 50 community meetings and workshops.

The position will work with other Planning Technicians on public information services, intaking and coordinating permit applications, and providing administrative support for public hearings. The position is primarily responsible for providing basic land use regulation and permitting information to the public, managing application submittal appointments, and ensuring a seamless process for applicants when completing the initial processing of their permit applications. This includes responding to public inquiries about the permitting process and providing guidance on the required application documents.  Planning Technicians also provide necessary clarifications to ensure that customers are applying for the correct permitting process and that the information provided is accurate.  The duties require close collaboration with other City departments and creative, analytical thinking to troubleshoot issues, and appropriately update tracking sheets and applications as they relate to changes in State laws and City requirements. Planning Technicians also provide administrative and technical support for in-person and virtual meetings (Zoom) to ensure that meeting agenda, presentation slides, and public speaking timers are appropriately displayed. This position occasionally requires working late on weekday evenings to provide administrative support during public hearings.    

Salary Range

$75,435.36 - $91,596.96 Annually

This salary range includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Respond to customer inquiries related to land use planning and zoning-related questions to ensure customers understand the basic processes. 
• Provide information regarding permit processing, policies, and procedures to applicants and help ensure that applicants are briefed and successful in the next steps of the process. 
• Work with permit applicants, including application intake and providing fee information and general zoning and land use information. 
• Create and maintain maps, graphic illustrations, permit applications, documents, spreadsheets, and other land use planning materials primarily using computers and associated software, including Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Suite, and ArcGIS. 
• Assist in the preparation and general conduct of public meetings. Provide administrative and technical support for public meetings, including Planning Commission, Historic Landmarks Commission, and Planning Director hearings, requiring some availability on weeknights. 
• Research official records from City departments and outside agencies to obtain information, such as the use of property and permit history. 
• Provide detailed, technical, and specialized support work to city planners and other staff. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma, General Education Development (G.E.D.) Certificate, or California Proficiency Certificate or equivalent. 

Experience: Two years of technical experience using a personal computer to create word processing documents, computer graphics, databases, spreadsheets and maps. 

Acceptable Substitution for Experience: An associate degree from an accredited college with an emphasis in a technical field such as computer science, geographic information systems, computer graphics, or architectural drafting with completed coursework in each of the following software applications: word processing, computer graphics, databases, spreadsheets and maps. 

Licenses: Possession of a valid California driver's license may be required.

The City of Pacifica is recruiting for a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I/II/III at the Calera Creek Water Recycling Plant. Under direct or general supervision of the Plant Manager or Assistant Superintendent - Operations, operates and controls wastewater treatment plant and reclamation and recycled water facilities; performs preventative and routine corrective maintenance on a variety of equipment, facilities and related appurtenances; and performs related work as required.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is the full journey-level classification in the wastewater treatment plant operator series. Incumbents independently perform the full range of wastewater treatment and reclamation and recycled water facilities and equipment operations and maintenance duties. Responsibilities include inspecting and attending to assigned areas in a timely manner to ensure the proper operation and maintenance of the City’s wastewater treatment plant systems and equipment. Positions at this level work independently, exercise judgment and initiative and receive occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise. This class is distinguished from the Lead Plant Operator in that the latter is responsible for providing technical and functional direction to operations staff and is capable of performing the most complex operations and maintenance duties assigned to the division.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED

Receives supervision and direction from the Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager or designee. Exercises lead oversight, including provision of technical supervision, assignment of work and/or the training of less experienced staff.
