The Housing Authority is seeking a team-oriented candidate to plan and manage the asset management function of the Housing Authority’s real estate portfolio including the housing assets owned by AHA’s affiliates. The Senior Asset Manager conducts financial, physical and regulatory performance review; develops and monitors capital needs assessment programs; and reviews, recommends and implements financing or refinancing schemes at multi-family and tax credit properties, in addition to providing highly responsible and complex professional assistance to the Directors of, Housing Development and Property Operations. The Senior Asset Manager may supervise one or more junior staff.

AHA is particularly interested in applications from candidates with a strong track record in various aspects of the affordable housing industry including finance, development/rehabilitation, management and related real estate issues with an emphasis on asset management and financial and regulatory analysis. The successful candidate will be team-oriented with the ability to move projects forward and help position AHA’s portfolio for longevity and financial sustainability in the challenging Bay Area housing market.

This is an exempt, at-will position. The Authority operates on a 9/72-hour biweekly schedule and is closed every other Friday.

The City of Foster City is looking for a Building/Fleet Maintenance Superintendent who will oversee the Building and Fleet Maintenance Division of the Public Works Department. This position is responsible for planning, organizing, supervising, reviewing, and evaluating diverse and specialized building and fleet maintenance and repair functions.

This position manages and develops outside contracts, vendors, and project budgets; assures regulatory compliance and economy in all programs; coordinates assigned activities with other City departments and outside agencies; provides responsible and technical staff assistance; and performs duties as assigned. The ideal candidate would be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Education and Experience
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities. A typical way would be:

Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade supplemented by specialized training or coursework in construction trades, maintenance, automotive technology, or repair, and/or supervision.

Experience: Five (5) years of experience as a journey-level mechanic performing vehicle and equipment repairs or general repair and maintenance in one or more of the building trades, of which two (2) years should be in a supervisory or lead capacity.

Licenses and Certifications

• Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid Class C California driver’s license upon appointment.
• Possession of ,or the ability to obtain, National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification in air conditioning, brakes, and electrical systems is highly desired.

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training and other job related qualifications. Based upon a review of employment applications received, a limited number of the qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the examination process.

The process will consist of an Oral Panel Interview (weighted 80%) and a written exercise (weighted 20%). An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 70% or higher. Current and future vacancies may be filled from this list. The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Weighmaster in the Zero Waste Division of the Public Works Department! Working in the scale house at the solid waste transfer station, the Weighmaster is responsible for assessing incoming loads and providing direction to customers.

In this role, you will weigh vehicles entering and leaving the transfer station; estimate volumes of small loads and assess contents; collect established fees for dumping; provide information and direct customers; and use personal computers for data collection, computation, reconciliation, record keeping and reporting.
 

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:
Equivalent to completion of high school and either three (3) years of solid waste collection and disposal experience, or three (3) years of general office or accounting support work experience. Prior experience in refuse collection and/or experience in handling of hazardous materials is desirable.

Other requirements include:
Must be bondable and able to work early morning, evening, holiday and weekend shifts in a dusty, windy environment without restrictions. Within a six (6) month probationary period must successfully complete four (4) weeks of full-time equivalent on-the-job training to prepare the employee to assume the full range of Weighmaster duties, as certified by senior supervisory staff. Successful completion of classes in Customer Service Dispute/Conflict Resolution is desirable.

The City is seeking a Cross-Connection Control Specialist to perform a range of technical and specialized duties supporting the City’s water system, including the development, implementation, and maintenance of cross-connection control and backflow prevention programs. The Position:

The Senior Planner is the advanced journey level classification in the professional Planner series. An incumbent in this classification is responsible for performing complex planning duties in the administration of land use regulations, the City's General Plan, Housing Element, environmental review, and design review.  The Senior Planner is distinguished from the Associate Planner classification as they perform lead, supervisory responsibilities.

This Senior Planner position will be primarily assigned to advanced or long-range planning implementing the City’s Housing Element, including preparing Annual Progress Reports, monitoring Regional Housing Needs Allocations, developing, implementing, and monitoring policies, data analysis & reporting, and community engagement activities.

The ideal candidate is expected to be familiar with state planning and housing laws, including state density bonus requirements, and Housing Element requirements. They should be able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the laws and the local implementing ordinances to ensure the City is in compliance. This position will also play a key role in advancing housing-related initiatives, many of which are part of the Housing Element programs.

The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter able to work independently, and with a team. They will be able to communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, consultants, decision-makers, and the public. Four (4) years of professional municipal or regional planning experience.

Acceptable Substitution:

• Two (2) years professional planning experience as an Associate Planner with the City of Santa Clara may be substituted for the required experience.

• A Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in City Planning or closely related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), permit tracking software, such as Accela.

• Depending on position assignment, experience in a particular specialty such as current planning, advanced or long-range planning, California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), and/or Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping, or database development.

• Experience developing and delivering public presentations.

• Planning experience in a lead or supervisory capacity.

• Possession of a certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).

About the Role

This is not an entry-level role. This is not a position for someone learning the field. This is a role for someone who has already been in the crucible of crisis, learned hard lessons, adapted under pressure, and is eager for more.

The Emergency Coordinator sits at the operational center of SMC EM. You will plan. You will write. You will brief. You will execute. You will move between strategy and the tactical detail of getting things done, across a complex Operational Area of 20 cities, 18 unincorporated communities, and the partners who serve them.

This work requires range. One day you are facilitating a planning cycle that will shape the next twelve months of countywide preparedness. The next, you are translating policy into a one-page brief for a city council, then coordinating an exercise design with fire and law partners, then back at your desk drafting a memo that will move across the Operational Area in 48 hours.

The throughline is judgment. We need someone who can prioritize, pivot, and produce. Someone who has thrived in uncertainty before, and is energized to do more of it here.

What This Role Actually Involves

Planning (Primary Focus)
Planning is the center of gravity for this role. You will lead and contribute to the full planning cycle, from scoping through drafting, coordinating, executing, exercising, and updating operational plans, annexes, and frameworks across the Operational Area. The work means translating federal and state guidance (FEMA, CalOES, SEMS, NIMS) into plans that are usable on a Tuesday and survive a Saturday at 2 a.m. It means coordinating reviews and revisions with internal staff and external partners, building consensus around standards while protecting quality. Asking how could this be better, more practical and more useful in the moment. And it means maintaining a working understanding of the threat and hazard landscape facing San Mateo County, so the plans on the shelf actually reflect the risk on the ground.

Communication and Coordination
You will brief and present to varied audiences on a regular basis and on demand: senior county leadership, elected officials, fire and law chiefs, Operational Area partners, community organizations, and the public. The substance has to hold steady; the delivery has to flex for the room. Alongside the briefing work, you will produce clear, accurate written products on tight timelines: memos, briefings, plans, talking points, after-action reports, and correspondence that moves at the speed of decision-making. You will represent SMC EM credibly in working groups, advisory committees, tabling events, and external meetings at all levels of government, and you will maintain steady, professional communication with partners across all 20 cities and 18 unincorporated communities.

Project Management and Execution

• Carry assigned projects from initiation through completion. Own timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder coordination.
• Manage multiple concurrent priorities without dropping quality or letting partners go silent.
• Identify obstacles early, problem-solve collaboratively, and escalate when needed.

Exercise, Training, and Operational Readiness

• Contribute to the design, development, facilitation, and evaluation of exercises (tabletops, functional, full-scale) aligned with HSEEP standards.
• Support training programs for staff, partners, and the broader Operational Area.
• Participate in a weekly on-call rotation, maintaining 24-hour readiness and responding to the field or Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during emergencies or disasters.
• Participate in after-action reviews and improvement planning. Treat lessons learned as a discipline, not a deliverable.

Who We Are Looking For

The right person for this role has been tested. They have been in crisis situations and knows what it’s like to be in a real EOC. They have written a plan that was used and know what it means to adapt in the moment. They have briefed leadership when the picture was unclear and the pressure was high. They have learned that emergency management is less about the binder on the shelf and more about the relationships, the judgment, and the ability to keep moving when the information is incomplete.

We are looking for someone who is technically capable, operationally seasoned, relationally skilled, and intellectually restless.

Knowledge and Experience

• Working command of the planning cycle. You have led or contributed substantively to plan development, from scoping through publication and exercise.
• Familiarity with the five Emergency Management Sections (Management, Operations, Planning, Logistics, Finance/Admin) and the Incident Command System.
• Demonstrated problem-solving. A track record of identifying issues, generating options, and driving toward resolution under pressure.
• Strong communicator across audiences. You can hold the room with senior executives, political leaders, Operational Area partners, chiefs, and the public, with demonstrated experience adapting message and tone for each.
• Excellent written communication skills, including reports, briefings, plans, and professional correspondence.
• Ability to work across a wide variety of settings (field, office, EOC) and disciplines (law enforcement, fire services, emergency medical services, public health).

Preferred but Not Required

• 5 years of professional experience, with at least 2 years dedicated to emergency management, disaster operations, homeland security, public safety, or military operations.
• Master's Degree in emergency management, public administration, public policy, homeland security, public health, communications, or a related field.
• Completion of ICS Courses 100, 200, 700, and 800 (or ability to complete within the first 90 days)
• Exercise design and execution experience (tabletops, functional, full-scale) aligned with HSEEP.
• Formal project management experience, including managing scope, schedule, and stakeholders across complex initiatives.
• Hands-on experience with alert and warning systems (IPAWS, WEA, EAS, mass notification platforms).
• Experience working across multiple jurisdictions or within a complex multi-agency operational environment.
• Training instruction or curriculum development experience.
• A valid California Driver's License.

 

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:
 

Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in business, public administration, emergency management or related discipline.

Experience: One year of experience having responsibility for assisting in program planning, development and budgeting in the public, military, or private organization, preferably related to emergency/disaster planning and management.

Ron Robinson Senior Care Center (RRSCC) is seeking two full-time geriatricians to join our outpatient primary care clinic, located within San Mateo Medical Center in the heart of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Our clinic is specifically designed to meet the unique needs of individuals aged 60 and above. Through a comprehensive interdisciplinary team approach, we empower older adults to lead healthier, more fulfilling lives.

Our team of medical doctors and nurse practitioners is supported by a clinic-dedicated psychiatrist, psychologist, neuropsychologist, pharmacist, nutritionist, podiatrist, and social worker, in addition to our committed nursing and patient service staff. We also offer home visits for homebound patients and host bi-monthly inter-agency meetings to coordinate care for complex cases.
