ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City invites you to apply for the position of Equipment Mechanic I/II.  The Equipment Mechanic works within the Equipment Services Section within the Public Works Department, and is responsible for making minor and major mechanical repairs to automotive, diesel and other power-driven equipment, performing routine maintenance and servicing, and performing specialized mechanical and fabrication work as required.  

Equipment Mechanic I:

This is the entry level in the Equipment Mechanic class series. Positions in this class perform mechanical repair work of a routine to moderately complex nature, working under the guidance and training of more experienced mechanics.

Equipment Mechanic II:

This is the full journey level in the Equipment Mechanic class series. Positions assigned to this class perform the full range of journey level automotive and equipment maintenance work typically assigned to Equipment Mechanics. In addition, an Equipment Mechanic II assumes responsibility for providing training for Equipment Mechanic I’s and regularly performs the most complex maintenance and repair work in the shop.

DEFINITION

Under the direction of the Transit Manager, the Transit Analyst II is responsible for carrying out a variety of analytical and technical assignments; and working on administrative and operational activities, analysis and special projects in support of Union City’s transit programs and services.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

This is the experienced-level class in the Transit Division. Work given to an incumbent in this class involves various tasks including, but not limited to, scenario planning, performance-based planning, financial forecasting, regional policy research and analysis, transportation demand management, general analysis and development of transit programs and services, research of new trends in public transit and comparing how Union City provides service delivery, and participation in coordination events or meetings on behalf of Union City. Incumbents in this class perform advanced analytical work while following City and departmental policies while exercising the performance of more complex duties. The Transit Analyst II has general knowledge of the operating procedures and policies of transit and/or transportation planning. The Transit Analyst II is distinguished from the Transit Analyst I in that it is the full journey-level, professional class in the division and works more independently.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (illustrative only)

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Evaluates general planning, operations, and activities of the City’s public transit programs (fixed route, paratransit, and micro transit).
• Prepare and present comprehensive and, at times confidential, technical, administrative, statistical and financial analytical reports that present and interpret data, identify alternatives, present and justify conclusions, make forecasts, and offer recommendations based on data summaries and other findings.
• Provides recommendation to division leadership based on data and information from various sources in order to effectuate program and service delivery improvements and services for analysis and decision-making purposes.
• Coordinates a variety of studies for the preparation, analysis, or evaluation of reports and grant requests.
• Prepares the development of regularly occurring required plans or programs, such as the Short-Range Transit Plan (SRTP), Title VI and Language Assistance Plan (LAP), Transit Asset Management (TAM) Plan, and Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP).
• Lead budget development and administration, and grant reporting for complex projects; analyzing proposed capital, operating, and maintenance of expenditures based on services to be rendered.
• Coordinates the preparation of the scope of work (RFP’s, IFB’s, etc.) and other contract management related tasks such as monitoring and closeout of service and maintenance contracts, professional services, vehicle procurements, etc.
• Work with other City departments, other transit agencies and other public agencies to provide adequate transit amenities, service levels, service coordination and transit or transportation mitigation measures.
• Use, review, and recommend web-based programs designed to provide information to the Computer Assisted Dispatch and Automatic Vehicle Location (CAD/AVL) systems used to track vehicles and provide information to the region’s 511 system, provide service planning, and can generate the required versions of the general transit feed services by the region and state.
• Researching and responding to public complaints and inquiries; participating in the design and implementation of administrative procedures.
• Provide general assistance with the Public Works Department.
• Perform related duties, responsibilities and assist in special projects as needed.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City invites you to apply for the position of Senior Civil Engineer.  The Senior Civil Engineer performs complicated engineering, planning, design, and review activities and exercises lead supervision over others as assigned.  The work, projects, and systems assigned may involve managements of park field and facilities improvements, building facilities improvements, land development reviews & approvals, right-of-way permit process, roads and utilities improvements, transportation & traffic planning and improvements, and/or building construction. Work of this class may involve the lead supervision of professional and technical personnel.  Assignments are general and of a continuing nature, requiring the exercise of independent judgment and initiative in prioritizing, scheduling, assigning and coordinating the work.  Senior Civil Engineers are also expected to perform the most complex professional engineering work requiring a substantial level of professional training and experience.

The Department: 

The City Manager’s Office provides executive leadership and administrative oversight for the City organization, ensuring the effective delivery of services in alignment with the City Council’s policies, goals, and strategic priorities. The City Manager’s Office is responsible for implementing City Council direction, overseeing daily municipal operations, and fostering collaboration across departments and with external partners. This Office plays a key role in strategic planning, policy development, budget preparation and oversight, labor relations, and performance management. Staff within the City Manager’s Office support complex projects and initiatives that advance organizational excellence, innovation, equity, and community engagement. The Position: 

The Staff Analyst I is responsible for program analysis and administrative duties in support of assigned programs and activities. Assigned programs could include housing development, community development, community outreach, historic preservation, advanced planning, public/private housing rehabilitation, management analysis, building services, human services, criminal statistics, solid waste, recycling, waste prevention, sustainability, urban runoff pollution prevention, and federal/state grant programs and activities.  Performs related duties as assigned.

DESCRIPTION 

The City of Thousand Oaks is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Human Resources Analyst to serve as the program manager for employee and labor relations. 

Working under the general direction of the Deputy Director and Director of Human Resources, the Senior Human Resources Analyst oversees complex employee relations matters; conducts and coordinates workplace investigations; manages employee discipline processes; and supports labor negotiations with the City’s three recognized employee associations. 

This role works closely with the City Attorney’s Office, outside labor counsel, and external investigative firms to ensure employee and labor relations matters are handled consistently, lawfully, and in accordance with City policies and labor agreements. The position also partners with department management and supervisory staff to address employee concerns, promote consistent practices, and support effective performance management. 

In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to City departments and executive leadership, ensuring employment decisions align with applicable laws, labor agreements, and best practices. You will play a key role in maintaining productive labor-management relationships and supporting a fair, consistent approach to employee conduct and performance. 

While the primary focus of this position is employee and labor relations, the position may also be assigned responsibilities within the City’s safety and risk program. Specific duties will depend on the qualifications and skills of the selected candidate. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Coordinate and manage employee relations matters across City departments, including guidance on performance management, disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation, under the direction of HR leadership. 

• Conduct and coordinate workplace investigations involving allegations of misconduct, discrimination, harassment, and other policy violations, in collaboration with HR leadership, the City Attorney’s Office, and external investigators, as appropriate. 

• Support disciplinary processes by ensuring consistency, legal compliance, and adherence to due process requirements. 

• Support labor negotiations with the City’s three recognized employee bargaining units, including data analysis, proposal development, contract drafting support, and preparation of negotiation materials and communications. 

• Interpret and administer Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) and assist departments in understanding and applying negotiated agreements and relevant labor laws. 

• Serve as a key liaison among Human Resources, City departments, labor organizations, legal counsel, and external partners to support constructive labor-management relationships. 

• Provide advanced analysis and recommendations to HR leadership on employee and labor relations matters, employment law considerations, and policy development. 

• Develop and deliver training for supervisors and managers on employee relations topics, disciplinary processes, investigations, and contract compliance. 

• Monitor changes and trends in labor and employment law and assist HR leadership in evaluating impacts on City policies, procedures, and practices. 

• Serve as a technical resource on risk and workplace safety regulations and policies, as assigned, and support compliance and advisory efforts.

Minimum Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION 

Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience: One (1) year in a law enforcement agency within the last thirty-six (36) months and possession of a current Basic California P.O.S.T Certificate.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent (possession of an Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is desirable).

License
Possession and maintenance of a valid Class C California Driver's License.

Necessary Special Qualifications: 

- Free of any felony convictions.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City, Community Development Department is seeking a value-driven team player to join the Department. Through mentorship and under general supervision, the Fellow will assist in coordinating and managing specific projects to completion in the areas of budgeting, planning, community engagement, procurement, and legislative policy, especially related to the Planning and Building Divisions in Community Development.

Some of the various projects and responsibilities may include:

• Performing policy research and analysis, identifying relevant legislation, and developing recommendation positions as related to Planning and Building policy
• Assisting with the City’s budget process
• Program and Performance Management analysis towards the goal of identifying efficiencies
• Statistical analysis of data; and preparing findings and/or recommendations to the supervising Management Analyst
• Assisting with community engagement and the development of outreach strategies, reviewing the Staff Report Guide and implementing, training and supporting staff to improve staff reports (written reports for City Council)

The Fellowship is a 1-year limited term position with the option to extend for an additional year.

DESCRIPTION 

The City of Thousand Oaks is seeking a highly skilled and collaborative technology leader to serve as its first Deputy Chief Technology Officer (Deputy CTO). This position will play a critical role in supporting the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in building, operating, and maturing the City’s newly established Information Technology (IT) Department. 

The Deputy CTO will serve as a key partner to the CTO, helping translate the City’s Information Technology Strategic Plan (ITSP) into effective, day-to-day operations and successful project execution. While the CTO focuses on long-term vision, executive leadership, and Citywide strategy, the Deputy CTO will provide strong operational leadership, oversee core technology functions, and ensure consistent delivery of high-quality IT services across the organization.

The Deputy CTO will report directly to the Chief Technology Officer and may serve as the CTO’s designee in meetings, projects, and decision-making as assigned. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Department Operations & Leadership 

• Support the CTO in establishing and maturing the City’s standalone IT Department, including policies, procedures, governance, and service delivery models. 

• Provide day-to-day operational leadership for IT functions, ensuring stability, reliability, and performance of Citywide technology systems. 

• Supervise, mentor, and develop IT management and technical staff; promote a culture of service, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. 

• Assist with organizational planning, staffing strategies, and implementation of new IT positions outlined in the ITSP. 

Strategic Plan Execution & Major Initiatives 

• Lead or support execution of the City’s Information Technology Strategic Plan (ITSP), ensuring initiatives remain on scope, on schedule, and aligned with City priorities. 

• Provide hands-on leadership for major enterprise initiatives such as ERP, CMMS, CRM, PRA, Utility Billing, and Data Analytics system modernization projects. 

• Coordinate project management, vendor relationships, system integrations, and change management efforts across departments. 

• Track progress, risks, and dependencies; prepare status updates and recommendations for the CTO and executive leadership. 

Technology Operations & Governance 

• Oversee and coordinate core IT operational areas, which may include: 
  • Application support and enterprise systems 
  • Infrastructure and cloud services 
  • Network and telecommunications systems 
  • Cybersecurity and risk management 
  • Digital services and end-user support 

• Help standardize technology platforms, processes, and service delivery models across the organization. 

• Support development and enforcement of IT policies, standards, and procedures to ensure consistency, security, and compliance. 

Cybersecurity & Emerging Technology 

• Partner with the CTO to maintain a strong cybersecurity posture, including oversight of security tools, incident response processes, and risk mitigation strategies. 

• Assist in implementing Citywide processes for vetting and adopting emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, in alignment with the City’s AI policy. 

• Monitor technology trends and recommend practical, value-driven solutions that improve service delivery and organizational efficiency. 

Cross-Department Collaboration 

• Serve as a trusted partner to City departments, helping translate business needs into effective technology solutions. 

• Facilitate collaboration between IT and operational departments to improve business processes, user experience, and system adoption. 

• Represent IT in interdepartmental meetings, steering committees, and project teams as assigned by the CTO. 

Priorities 

• Establish strong, reliable IT operations that build confidence and trust across the organization. 

• Ensure successful execution of complex, high-impact technology projects, particularly enterprise system modernizations. 

• Support staff development and help create clear career pathways within the IT Department. 

• Drive consistency, documentation, and process maturity across all IT functions. 

• Serve as a steady operational leader and strategic thought partner to the CTO. 

DEFINITION:

The City of Lincoln is hiring for a Senior Office Assistant within the Administrative Services Division of the Public Works Department. Under general supervision, learns to perform and performs difficult, complex, specialized and/or confidential office support to various City offices, which may require the exercise of independent judgment, the application of technical skills, or a knowledge of detailed or specialized activities related to the department to which assigned; performs related work as assigned; assists the public by providing information personally or directing information requests according to established procedures; sorts, logs and maintains records and other documents; learns policies, procedures and work methods associated with assigned duties; performs other related duties as required.
 

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

The Senior Office Assistant is the advanced journey level classification in the office support series in which incumbents are expected to independently perform the full scope of assigned duties. Incumbents perform a full range of complex and difficult specialized office support duties, with responsibilities requiring the use of independent judgment or the application of technical or related skills. Incumbents often function as the only office support for an organizational or functional unit. This class is distinguished from the next higher classification of Office Supervisor in that the latter has a broader supervisory responsibility for the functioning of an entire office.

Receives general supervision from professional, supervisory and/or management level staff. May exercise technical and functional supervision over assigned staff.
 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (include but are not limited to the following)

• Provides difficult, complex, specialized and/or confidential office support to various City offices, which may require the exercise of independent judgment, the application of technical skills, or a knowledge of detailed or specialized activities related to the department to which assigned; performs related work as assigned; assists the public by providing information personally or directing information requests according to established procedures; sorts, logs and maintains records and other documents.

• Provides information to the public or to City staff that may require the use of judgment and the interpretation of policies, rules or procedures; responds to questions and concerns from the general public; receives visitors and telephone calls and directs them to the appropriate information source; represents the City to all callers and visitors in a professional and customer friendly manner; assists the public in filling out forms and supplies information regarding fees, permits, legal requirements, procedures and services provided by City departments.

• Researches and assembles information from a variety of sources for the completion of forms or the preparation of reports; makes arithmetic, statistical and payroll calculations; compiles and maintains records; maintains centralized division/department records and files; inputs, updates and retrieves data such as mailing lists and registrations; designs and develops flyers and brochures; determines proper spelling and grammar; develops proper formats for forms, charts and reports.

• Proofreads and checks typed and other materials for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with departmental policies and regulations; types correspondence, reports, forms, and specialized documents from drafts, notes, dictated tapes, or brief instructions, using a typewriter or word processor; prints and distributes final documents.

• Receives and processes fees, fines or other money; prepares receipts and balances money received; issues permits; orders supplies and materials.

• Makes appointments and maintains a calendar and tickler files; schedules and arranges meetings and makes travel arrangements; organizes meetings by notifying participants, making room arrangements and preparing required informational materials; sorts and distributes mail received by departmental staff.

• Maintains office equipment and facilities; requests and follows up on building maintenance and custodial services; operates and performs routine preventative maintenance on office machines, including data/word processors, copiers and field dispatch equipment.

• May assist with and/or administer special projects; coordinates specific projects, including fostering cooperative working relationships with civic groups, inter-governmental agencies and City staff; helps develop, implement and maintain goals, objectives, policies and priorities for assigned projects and service areas; helps ensure that established goals and priorities are achieved; attends and participates in professional and community meetings; stays current on related issues; serves as a technical resource.

• Establishes positive working relationships with representatives of community organizations, state/local agencies, City management and staff and the public.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in preparing reports using a computer keyboard Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading written reports and work-related documents. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal service. The need to lift, drag and push files, paper and documents weighing up to 25 pounds also is required.
