The Position:

The Combination Inspector is responsible for performing the building, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical inspections.  Each Inspector may be assigned to one or more of the following Programs or specialties: Code Enforcement, Building, Electrical, Permit Center, and Plumbing & Mechanical.

The annual salary range for this position is $125,115.24 - $159,613.32 annually. This position may be filled at or near the minimum of the salary range.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

Minimum Education Requirements:

Graduation from high school or possession of a G.E.D.

 

Minimum Experience Requirements:

Five (5) years of experience as a journey person in the building construction or related trades

 

OR

 

Three (3) years of experience as a Combination Inspector in a city or county inspection jurisdiction

 

OR

 

Possession of a State of California license as a general (B-l) or electrical (C-10) or plumbing (C-36) or heating, ventilating, air conditioning (C-20) contractor for a minimum of two (2) years

License/Certifications:

Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is required.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Redwood City Fire Department is seeking individuals for the position of Cadet Firefighter. The Cadet Firefighter Program is designed to allow students an opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge of fire department operations. Fire Department Cadets spend a minimum of 48 hours and a maximum of 96 hours per month at the firehouse, participating in calls for service, station duties, and training. Cadets will also be expected to attend department-sponsored community functions outside of their 96-hour monthly commitment. Though the goal is to immerse the cadet into all aspects of fire department life, they are not allowed to participate in situations deemed Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health (IDLH).

 

This Fire Cadet position is a non-benefited volunteer position.

 

The City of Sunnyvale is looking for an Applications Analyst II to join the Information Technology Department (ITD). This position requires a service-oriented focus, ability to support and enhance our Oracle Cloud ERP & HCM applications, along with primary and secondary support roles for multiple enterprise systems including system configuration, reporting and interfaces, day-to-day operational issues, break/fix, maintenance, upgrades, and on-call rotations.

 

The ideal candidate will have experience with supporting Human Capital Management (HCM/HR) or Financial systems, preferably an integrated ERP/HCM system, ideally Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications. POSITION

To prepare and implement a wide variety of environmental programs in areas of integrated waste management, water conservation and other resources.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current vacancy in the Equity, Environment, Economy, and Engagement (EEEE) division of the City Manager’s Office, as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The City of Woodland is seeking an enthusiastic, team-oriented Conservation Coordinator focused on recycling and outreach to join the Environmental Service team under the City Manager’s Office of Equity, Environment, Economy, and Engagement. The Ideal Candidate will be familiar with regulatory issues and principles pertaining to pollutant reduction, waste diversion, and California’s Senate Bill 1383, as well as how these topics relate to energy conservation, waste, habitat quality, and other environmental issues. The position calls for a high level of public contact; ability to develop and coordinate events and program materials; good data analysis skills; ability to give presentations to City Council, local organizations, and community groups; good writing and speaking skills; ability to work both independently and in a close team relationship as needed; and ability to prioritize and simultaneously manage multiple programs and activities. The ability to speak and understand Spanish is highly desirable.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

General

• Coordinates and updates the City’s environmental programs; develop program materials for presentations to schools, community and neighborhood groups.  Track and analyze program-related legislation; make recommendations for City involvement in pending legislation and compliance and implementation of existing legislation.
• Develop program and time schedules for implementation of environmental programs; accumulate data and prepare reports, including informational flyers, press releases, articles and prepare Council Communications and other correspondence. 
• Provide general information to the public, other City departments, and other government agencies pertaining to environmental conservation programs, which may include social media content, adverts, educational material, publications, and other related materials.
• Develop a presence on social media utilizing various social media tools.
• Develop educational tools and presentations to various organizations and community members.
• Develop and execute various conservation events, which address current conservation issues such as temperatures, changes in precipitation, storms, flooding, droughts, wildfire and other environmental issues.  
• Collaborate with other public agencies to promote and support correlating environmental programs and efforts.
• Provide public outreach and education at community events, which may require evening and weekend participation. Administer rebate and incentive programs.
• Assist with City electricity and solar use monitoring and analysis.
• Coordinate with the Sustainability Advisory Committee on community engagement.
• Assist with Climate Action Plan implementation and greenhouse gas monitoring efforts and outreach.
• Keep abreast of current developments, trends, legislative action, and practices in the field of integrated waste management, water conservation, and other environmental programs.
• Identify, prepare and manage grants from a variety of funding sources.
• Assist with contract management, develop program protocols, create tracking systems.
• Prepare and track internal division annual budget.
• Represent the City at board, commission, and professional group meetings as necessary.
• Act as a liaison with local, regional and state environmental conservation and sustainability programs.
• Regular, predictable, consistent and timely attendance is an essential function of the position, in that the failure of such attendance undermines the City’s ability to provide critical services to employees, department and the public.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Solid Waste and Recycling:

• Develop and implement program materials and procedures for compliance with legislative requirements pertaining to SB 1383, AB 939, and other recycling, waste reduction, and integrated waste management regulations.
• Conduct inspections and enforcement measures for compliance with waste diversion and food recovery programs.
• Assist with administrating the construction and demolition recycling program and coordinating with City departments for project compliance.
• Coordinate with the City’s franchise hauler to provide outreach and education.
• Review all related legislation to ensure compliance.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain these abilities would be:

Education:

Completion of two (2) years of college with major coursework in business, physical science, public administration, environmental studies, or a closely related field.

Experience:

One (1) year of experience developing, promoting, or coordinating environmental, conservation or public outreach programs.

License or Certificate:

Required upon hire, possession of a valid California Driver's License.      

Knowledge of a second language is highly desirable.

DEFINITION

 

Under supervision, performs electrical, preventive and corrective maintenance, modifications of existing equipment and the installation of new electrical equipment used within the wastewater treatment plant, the wastewater lift stations and the potable water pump stations and equipment; on 24-hour emergency call for electrical repairs; and performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

 

Installs, repairs, maintains or replaces electrical equipment including but not limited to, motor control centers, generators, switchgear panels, variable frequency drives, pump controllers, large distribution breakers, motors of various sizes and voltages, ground fault systems, magnetic and solid state starters, building lighting and power, HVAC equipment, reduced voltage transformers, SCADA control systems, fused disconnects, and various size and types of lighting. Shall review plans and specifications, may inspect electrical components to be installed during new construction, equipment replacement or modification. Shall maintain equipment records on the computerized maintenance system and update drawings as required.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Knowledge of: Electrical tools including but not limited to, basic hand and power tools, electric cable puller (mule), conduit benders (both hand and hydraulic), MEGGER, phase rotation meter, VOM meter, hydraulic knock-out tool, hand and power threading equipment, accepted safety practices and standards related to both personnel practices and proper handling and installation of equipment and systems. National Electrical Code; installation, operation and maintenance of motor control centers, power generation equipment, pumping control equipment with all types of motors.

 

Ability to: Read and interpret electrical diagrams, plans and electrical codes. Instruct others in preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance of electrical equipment and of safe work practices.  Work independently and with non-skilled electrical personnel.  Interact positively and cooperate with co-workers, respond politely to customers, work as a team member, function under demanding time pressure, respond in a positive manner to supervision, and attend work and perform duties on a regular and consistent basis.

Physical Requirements:  Moderate and sometimes strenuous exertion required including crawling, stair climbing, lifting, carrying and/or handling up to 50 pounds for 30 minutes.  Work in confined areas and wear protective garments.  May work in conditions which require exposure to noise, noxious odors, gases and contact with wastewater.

 

Experience: Four years of journey-level electrical trade experience involving work performed in conformance with standard codes and both single and three phase equipment.  Experience with water or wastewater utility systems desirable.

 

Education:  Graduation from high school, or equivalent.  Continuing education in related subjects is desirable.

 

License:  Possession of a valid Class C California Driver’s License.

The Santa Clara City Library is a department of the City and has positioned itself as a dynamic community hub, providing access to information, literacy resources, educational programming, and promotes civic engagement in Santa Clara. The Library Department is organized into seven divisions: Administration, Adult Services, Branch Services, Customer Services, Facilities, Technical and Technology Services and Youth Services. Santa Clara City Library is in the process of finalizing and implementing its new Strategic Plan that will support the direction of future library services.

 

The Position:

This is a paraprofessional supervisory position in the classified service. Positions in this class are responsible for the supervision and direction of a work unit comprised of paraprofessional, clerical and/or Library Page staff. This recruitment is to fill a position at the Northside Branch Library. The person in the position will work closely with the Northside Library Program Coordinator in maintaining and improving day to day operations, customer service, effective material circulation and distribution, scheduling staff and volunteers, and may act as the back-up person in charge.  May also develop and support branch programming with librarians. This person should have strong communication skills, a team mindset and community-based outlook.

Of the required experience one (1) year shall include supervising the work of others or as a project leader AND one (1) year of experience must involve customer or public service or paraprofessional library work.

 

Acceptable Substitution:

• Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on the basis of one (1) year of experience for thirty (30) semester units or forty-five (45) quarter units up to two (2) years.

 

• Completion of an Associate of Arts degree in Library Technology may substitute for the required education, plus one (1) year of the required experience. This experience shall not be substituted for the one (1) year of experience supervising the work of others or as a project leader OR one (1) year of experience involving customer or public service or paraprofessional library work.

THE POSITION

Under supervision, performs skilled and technical fire suppression and prevention activities. Must be prepared to act up to the next rank as needed and performs other related duties as required.

Drives fire apparatus to fire incidents and emergency calls; prepares for pumping operations and pumps water to fire at proper pressure; Inspects pumping and other equipment to ensure that apparatus is in good working condition and notifies Fire Captain of any defects; inspects, cleans, and maintains equipment; assists in keeping fire station in a clean and orderly condition; maintains an accurate running log of out-of-service streets and hydrants in the City of Chowchilla; performs fire suppression tasks/responsibilities required during fire suppression, salvage, and overhaul; conducts fire prevention inspections of assigned occupancies and tests fire protection equipment; detects hazardous conditions or violations of fire and building ordinances and laws; issues citations and warnings for violations; may conduct training of civilian and Fire personnel in applicable fire code regulations, fire inspection methods and procedures, and fire safety; investigates cause and origin of fires, seeking evidence of arson or of fire code violations; prepares follow-up correction notices and letters pertaining to initial inspections; Performs related duties as required.

 

PREREQUISITES

Education and/or Experience:

• High School/GED and
• Currently serving a permanent appointment as a Firefighter with the CFD.

Lateral: 

• Currently employed as a Fire Engineer (or equivalent rank) with a fire suppression government agency for a minimum of one (1) year and have completed probation within that rank.
• Must possess a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and First Aid Certificate or higher certification by appointment.
• A current Cal-JAC CPAT card at time of application. (Desired)

Volunteer Lateral: 

• Three years of Volunteer Firefighting for the Chowchilla Volunteer Fire Department with a minimum of one year as a Fire Engineer and have completed probation within that rank.
• Must possess a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and First Aid Certificate.

The Department:                                       

The Engineering and Transportation Department is supported by 27 FTEs, 9 contract employees, and a FY 2025-26 Capital Budget of approximately $72.9 million covering infrastructure and transportation projects. The Five-Year CIP (FY 2025-26 to FY 2029-30) totals $372 million, including citywide projects. Major projects include an impressive list of transportation projects, such as the SR84/US101 Freeway Interchange, grade separations along the Caltrain rail line, parking, transportation demand management and Vision Zero implementation, and various traffic calming and roadway projects. Other major projects entail the Transit Center, the Water Master Plan implementation, finalizing and implementing a Recycled Water Master Plan, and various Stormwater System improvements. Future priorities will involve developing an Adaptation Plan to address Sea Level Rise and the Redwood Shores and Bayshore protection projects.

The City of Sebastopol is seeking a professional, collaborative problem-solver to serve as the next Planning Director. The Planning Director will direct, oversee, and materially participate in the work of the City’s Planning Department, including current and long-range planning, maintenance of the General Plan, Housing Element, and zoning codes, and review of proposals for construction and development within the City of Sebastopol. The selected candidate will coordinate activities, permits, and projects with other City departments. In addition to reviewing and preparing recommendations to the Planning Commission on development proposals, and serve as the official secretary and officer of the Planning Commission.

The Planning Director performs professional planning duties in the fields of long-range planning, current planning, and building permitting, including a variety of diverse professional planning assignments. The incumbent will oversee technical reviews and evaluations of land use and permit applications, handle the most complex customer service issues, environmental impact documents, and construction projects, and provide supervision or lead direction to professional and support staff. The director will ensure compliance with all aspects of the City’s General Plan and related ordinances and laws, and perform related work as assigned.

The Planning Director will demonstrate cultural competency working with all community members regardless of cultural differences or circumstances, including race, ethnicity, religion, language, gender identity, age, marital and familial status, sexual orientation, diverse physical and learning abilities, socioeconomic status, and other identities.

This position is exempt from the overtime regulations of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is an “at will” classification serving at the pleasure of and receiving administrative direction from the City Manager.
