The City of Sebastopol is seeking a skilled, dynamic, results-driven Accountant to fill one full-time vacancy. The Accountant performs a variety of complex and technical financial accounting and program support duties in the areas of utility billing, bank reconciliation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, purchasing, project accounting, fixed assets, and general ledger. Additionally, the Accountant may be assigned to perform all functions related to and serve as a City resource for one or more accounting related programs administration.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Under the direction of the Custodial Services Supervisor, the Maintenance Custodian serves as the worker in the duties of care and cleaning of assigned buildings and related facilities.  The incumbent will be required to travel between several City buildings during their scheduled shift. Custodial services are provided seven days a week with shifts starting at 5pm and ending at 1:30am. Please note that schedules for this role could vary Monday-Sunday and will be determined prior to appointment.

Typical duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Sweep, vacuum, shampoo, and mop
• Dust fixtures and equipment up to twelve feet from floor.
• Wash windows and doors up to twelve feet from floor.
• Clean desk and countertops if cleared of items.
• Empty and clean waste receptacles, place in appropriate outside bins. Move recycle bins in and out of assigned buildings as assigned.
• Clean and maintain restrooms in assigned buildings and facilities.
• Replace light bulbs up to twelve feet from floor.
• Lock and unlock doors; turn light and machines on and off; set alarms.
• Pick up papers and other debris and place in appropriate container.
• Operate light duty equipment and machinery.
• Maintain effective communication utilizing email and phone during each assigned shift.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

The Position:

This is the second level paraprofessional position in the Staff Aide series requiring the frequent use of independent judgment and interpretive ability related to research, analysis, and report writing.  An incumbent in this classification performs work of a varied and responsible nature under general direction with some responsibility for the follow-through on details of assigned projects.

The annual salary range for this position is $95,863.92 - $122,040.48. This position may be filled at or near the minimum of the salary range. 

 

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Education Requirements: 

• Completion of an Associate of Arts degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field;

Minimum Experience Requirements: 

• Three (3) years of progressively responsible investigation, coordination or technical report writing experience; 
 • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Acceptable Substitution: 

• Additional qualifying experience may be substituted on the basis of one year of experience equals 30 semester units of required education for a maximum of one year of required education.

License/Certifications: 

Possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license is required at time of appointment and for duration of employment.

Desirable Qualifications: 

• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Access and Power Point.

Other Requirements:  

• May be required to work shifts, weekends, and odd and unusual hours in the performance of duties and emergency situations.
 • Must be able to perform all of the essential functions of the job assignment.

DEFINITION
Under general direction of the Human Resources Director, the Human Resources Manager oversees and coordinates the day-to-day human resources operations and is expected to perform professional human resources and administrative work. The Human Resources Manager manages, reviews and evaluates the work of subordinate staff.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
The Human Resources Manager (HRM) is a single position classification in the Human Resources Department responsible for the supervision of staff in a number of program areas including recruitment and selection, classification and compensation, benefits administration, disability and leave management, employee and labor relations, investigations, risk management, human resource information systems and record keeping and retention.

• Plans, directs, and coordinates work activities of staff in the Human Resources Department.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge Of:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: A bachelor's degree with a major in Business or Public Administration, Social or Behavioral Science, Human Resources Management, Organizational Development, or related.

And

Experience: five (5) years of full-time human resources experience including at least one (1) year in a supervisory capacity.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Additional years of experience in supervising others.
• Possession of a professional credential in Human Resources, such as PHR/SHRM-CP, PHR/SPHR or program specific credentials such as L&D, ARM, CEBS, CPSP, or similar.
• Experience working in a public agency is highly desirable.

The responsibilities and duties of the Mechanic may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Replace and/or repair any worn parts in vehicles, trucks, tractors, sweepers, rollers and other mechanical equipment including but not limited to spark plugs, brakes, master cylinders, wheel cylinders, wheel bearings, clutches and exhaust systems.
• Perform welding as required to repair equipment.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of time, work, parts, materials and outside service costs.
• Perform duties while utilizing a variety of hand tools and other equipment including brake tools, drill presses, grinding equipment, welders, cutting torches, lifts and related equipment; operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
• Estimate cost and time of procedures; prepare invoices.
• Maintain cleanliness in the shop area.
• Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
