The Position

The Planning Manager oversees the operations of CDD’s Planning Division, which includes supervision of a team of 10 planners and management of all current and long-range planning functions of the City. The ideal candidate is a team player; is experienced and effective in all aspects of professional planning practices; has proven leadership, negotiation, and communication skills; works well with a variety of interest groups, individuals, and stakeholders. The Planning Manager serves as staff liaison to the Planning Commission and supervises preparation of the Commission’s agenda and compilation of required reports and documents, and acts as Zoning Administrator and performs all duties required thereof by the Zoning Code. The position exercises direct supervision over professional staff in the Planning Division, receives general direction from the Community Development Director and/or Deputy Community Development Director, and works collaboratively with other division managers within CDD.

The City of Live Oak (Public Works Department) is recruiting to fill ONE vacancy as as a Maintenance Worker I, II, or III. Classification will depend on qualifications and experience.

Description 

Under varying levels of supervision, performs maintenance and repair of City facilities, roads, streets, water and sewer maintenance activities and performs other duties essential to the maintenance of the City. Current and valid  water distribution certifications and Class A/B commercial drivers license are highly desirable. 

Classifications 

Maintenance Worker I: This is the entry-level class in the maintenance series. Under immediate supervision the applicant will perform semi-skilled labor and maintenance and repair. Salary $40,333.75 - $52,125.54 per year ($19.393 - $25.063 per hour) DOQ

Maintenance Worker II: This is the journey level class in the maintenance series. Under general supervision the applicant will perform semi-skilled and skilled labor and maintenance repair. Salary $44,680.45 - $57,743.03 per year ($21.484 - $27.758 per hour) DOQ

Maintenance Worker III: This is the senior level class in the maintenance series. Under limited supervision the applicant will organize, assign, review, and participate in the work of assigned personnel engaged in maintenance equipment operation work pertaining to building, maintenance and repair. Salary $48,664.92 - $62,892.37 per year ($23.399 - $30.234 per hour) DOQ

Minimum Qualifications for consideration - Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education/Training: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering, environmental engineering, environmental sciences or a related field. 

Experience: Five years of increasingly responsible wastewater treatment plant and collection system operations and maintenance experience including two years of administrative and supervisory responsibility. One year of Biological Nutrient Removal Treatment Processing is desirable.

License or Certificate:

Possession of a State of California Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade V certificate is highly desirable.

The Environmental Services Department is looking to fill a current vacancy in the Environmental Chemist I/II classification in the laboratory. Depending on the applicant qualifications, the position will be filled at the appropriate level/salary of either an Environmental Chemist I or Environmental Chemist II. The eligibility list may be used for future vacancies in the laboratory.

The Environmental Services Department provides comprehensive and innovative utility services for Sunnyvale's residents and businesses and facilitates initiatives to achieve the City's sustainability objectives. The department brings together technical, operational, and administrative professional disciplines to form its dedicated and dynamic team.

The laboratory performs a variety of physical, chemical, biological and bacteriological analyses to monitor operations and demonstrate compliance for the City's wastewater, drinking water and industrial pretreatment programs. The Environmental Chemist I works independently under general supervision of the Senior Environmental Chemist, performing advanced chemical, physical, and bacteriological analyses of wastewater, drinking water and industrial wastes.

Minimum Qualifications

Education/Experience

The minimum qualifications for education and experience can be met in the following way:

Environmental Chemist I

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, or a closely related field.

Environmental Chemist II 
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, or a closely related field; AND

Two years of professional experience in a water or wastewater laboratory performing chemical, physical and bacteriological analysis of samples, using advanced instrumentation and analytical techniques similar to an Environmental Chemist I with the City of Sunnyvale.

Salary:  $40.70 - $60.42 Hourly

You will have 7-10 years’ experience in the building inspection field, ideally within municipal or governmental roles, demonstrating the ability to lead and mentor, expertise in overseeing building inspections, interpreting building codes, and ensuring compliance with safety, accessibility, and environmental standards. You will have relevant certifications in building inspection, such as ICC (International Code Council) Certified Building Inspector, or similar.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Deputy Building Official

• Graduation from high school or equivalent based on courses taken from an accredited educational institution.  Associate of Science degree in Building Inspection or related field is preferred.  
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in building inspection, including commercial, of which at least two (2) years must be in a supervisory capacity.  

Senior Building Inspector

• Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent based on courses taken from an accredited educational institution.  
• Associate of Arts degree preferred AND five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in building inspection, including commercial inspection and/or plan check experience, of which at least two (2) years must be at the full journey level or above.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Both Positions: Maintain a Valid CA driver’s license.

Deputy Building Official

Must maintain ICC certification in at least three of the following areas: commercial building inspector, combination building inspector, electrical inspector, plumbing inspector or mechanical inspector.  These certifications are required at time of hire. In addition, Plans Examiner certification from ICC is required, but may be obtained within 6 months of hire. 

Senior Building Inspector

 Building Inspector certification from International Code Council (ICC) or equivalent is required. CASP certification is highly desirable. Possession of a Commercial Building Inspector or Building Plans Examiner certification from ICC is desirable.  Certification as a Commercial Building Inspector must be obtained within one year of appointment as a condition of continued employment.

Overview:

The Program Administrator (Contracts Supervisor) plans, organizes, supervises, and coordinates the procurement by contract of professional consultant services (architectural engineering "A/E" and non-A/E consultants) and specialized Valley Water activities, and coordinates and oversees contract administration activities.  The Program Administrator works on contracts that are highly complex and sensitive in nature, where substantial judgment and initiative are essential in making recommendations and resolving problems. This is a management and leadership position with oversight of a team of contract professionals. This position reports to the Manager of the Purchasing and Consultant Contracts Unit, within the General Services Division.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Review and approve procurement request documents, cost estimates, scope, and other relevant information to initiate and implement a procurement strategy.

Ideal Experience:

• 6+ years of experience in public procurement and contract management, or a closely related field in the public-sector environment, including high value contract administration activities for professional services including either one year in experience planning, organizing, coordinating, and directing various project or programs, or serving as the Valley Water recognized subject matter expert or advisor in the assigned program area.

• 3+ years of increasingly responsible supervisory experience of staff is preferred.

• Procurement of professional services requiring specific licensure, including architectural and engineering services.

• Contract cost analysis, negotiations, and contract development.

Ideal Training and Education:

• Bachelor's degree in business or public administration or closely related field

This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule, typically working 40% remote and 60% onsite, after completion of the probationary period  (one year).

Facility and Sports Field Attendants work in the formal Suisun City classification of Recreation Specialist I. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 19 hours per week.

The Department: The Recreation, Parks and Marina Department is responsible for the operations and programs of the Suisun City Marina, the Senior Center and the Joseph A. Nelson Center, including preschool, after-school programs at various sites, recreation classes and sports leagues, community events and special event rentals.

The Position: Facility and Sports Field Attendants work behind the scenes making all Recreation and Community Services excel!  This job entails setting up for events and rentals, cleaning the facility and performing light maintenance duties.  We’re looking for highly motivated people with a customer service orientation who genuinely enjoy helping others and who are flexible problem-solvers.

We are seeking a hands-on, mechanics and electronics savvy Instrumentation Technician to join our Public Works Sanitation division. This position maintains, repairs, inspects, plans, modifies, designs, installs and calibrates instrumentation, electrical, and SCADA control systems for wastewater treatment facilities; maintains a spare parts inventory; and trains operations staff in the understanding of instrumentation and control systems related to the process operation.
