The City of Sebastopol is seeking a professional, collaborative problem-solver to serve as the next Planning Director. The Planning Director will direct, oversee, and materially participate in the work of the City’s Planning Department, including current and long-range planning, maintenance of the General Plan, Housing Element, and zoning codes, and review of proposals for construction and development within the City of Sebastopol. The selected candidate will coordinate activities, permits, and projects with other City departments. In addition to reviewing and preparing recommendations to the Planning Commission on development proposals, and serve as the official secretary and officer of the Planning Commission.

The Planning Director performs professional planning duties in the fields of long-range planning, current planning, and building permitting, including a variety of diverse professional planning assignments. The incumbent will oversee technical reviews and evaluations of land use and permit applications, handle the most complex customer service issues, environmental impact documents, and construction projects, and provide supervision or lead direction to professional and support staff. The director will ensure compliance with all aspects of the City’s General Plan and related ordinances and laws, and perform related work as assigned.

The Planning Director will demonstrate cultural competency working with all community members regardless of cultural differences or circumstances, including race, ethnicity, religion, language, gender identity, age, marital and familial status, sexual orientation, diverse physical and learning abilities, socioeconomic status, and other identities.

This position is exempt from the overtime regulations of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is an “at will” classification serving at the pleasure of and receiving administrative direction from the City Manager.

The City of Foster City is looking for a Public Works Maintenance Worker I who is able to demonstrate competency and increasing independence, knowledge and ability in performing routine and special assignments in a variety of maintenance program areas in the Public Works department. This position is expected to rotate through all the maintenance divisions of streets, lagoons, water, and wastewater. This is a full-time entry-level position. 

The ideal candidate will be an active listener with the ability to understand and follow verbal or written instruction. They will be able to safely operate equipment and tools and recognize the use of safe work practices. This individual will establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others and learn and retain information concerning equipment, functions, and projects. This position requires standby and emergency response coverage before or after regular work hours, weekends, and holidays.

Education and Training Guidelines
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities. A typical way would be:

Education: Completion of a job or technical training program in maintenance, or construction, completion of high school or the equivalent.

Experience: One year of full-time experience in general maintenance or construction.

Licenses, Certificates, Registration
Licenses:  Possession of a valid California Class "C" and Class "B" Driver's License. Must obtain valid California Class “B” Driver’s License within six months of appointment.

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training and other job related qualifications. Based upon a review of employment applications received, a limited number of the qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the examination process.

The process will consist of an Oral Panel Interview (weighted 50%), Written Exercise (weighted 25%), and Practical Exercise (weighted 25%). An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 70% or higher. Current and future vacancies may be filled from this list. The list will remain in effect for at least one year unless exhausted sooner.

The department will invite the most qualified candidates from the eligibility list to a final department interview. The Public Works department will make the hiring decision.

THE POSITION Under general supervision, this non-sworn, non-peace officer position performs assignments involving responsible public contact work in crime prevention and delivers non-emergency police services; to include Public Safety (emergency/non-emergency) Radio Comm for Police & Fire responders; also performs related duties as required.

 

Prerequisites / Qualifications 

This is the entry-level position.   Applicants must be 18 years old at time of application, have no felony convictions, have the ability to learn and understand radio and statue codes, understand policy and procedures written in English, function without close supervision, work a variety of shifts including weekends and holidays, and lift and transport various objects.

Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school plus one (1) year of experience in a clerical of similar position; college credits in criminal justice or communication preferred.

Possession of a Valid Class C California Motor Vehicle Operator License; A 35 WPM Typing Certification (Needs to be attached to application); and achieve within one year of appointment the completion of a P.O.S.T. Dispatch Certificate, completion of D.O.J. training for full access operator, and standard CPR and First Aid Certificates issued by the American Red Cross. 

About the Position:  The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (Midpen) Seasonal Ranger Aide is an entry-level position, which provides the opportunity to learn and perform some duties of a ranger under the guidance of experienced ranger staff.  Ranger Aides provide visitor information and assistance, travelling by non-emergency Midpen vehicles and on foot throughout an assigned geographical region. Ranger Aides perform a variety of customer service duties such as educating and informing the public about Midpen land use regulations, public relations and provide general information services, but do not have law enforcement authority.  Ranger Aides will assist with routine maintenance work on Midpen land and facilities and may respond to assist with emergency calls. Schedules:  This is a full-time position. Employees are expected to work full-time (40 hours during the work week); however, school schedules may be accommodated around regular days/hours of operations.  Weekend work (Sat/Sun) is required, with two consistent days off each week (either Mondays/Tuesdays off OR Thursdays/Fridays off), depending on the field office operational needs. Incumbents will work an 8-hour workday (plus a 30-minute unpaid meal break). Daily start and end times will be the same for most workdays, typically scheduled within the range of 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Must be willing to work weekends, nights, holidays, or extended shifts and work with exposure to difficult circumstances, including exposure to challenging situations and upset individuals. Seasonal assignments will not exceed 950 hours or 7 months, whichever comes first, and do not include benefits.

 

Working Conditions: Most work is outdoors within Midpen’s open space lands with exposure to inclement weather conditions. This requires the ability to patrol on foot, off trail, and in rugged terrain.  Also requires the ability to perform related emergency services and maintenance and construction work on Midpen lands. Once trained, Ranger Aides may work alone for parts or all of their shifts. Must wear prescribed District uniform and adhere to strict safety procedures and work habits.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The City of Woodland is seeking an enthusiastic, team-oriented Conservation Coordinator focused on recycling and outreach to join the Environmental Service team under the City Manager’s Office of Equity, Environment, Economy, and Engagement. The Ideal Candidate will be familiar with regulatory issues and principles pertaining to pollutant reduction, waste diversion, and California’s Senate Bill 1383, as well as how these topics relate to energy conservation, waste, habitat quality, and other environmental issues. The position calls for a high level of public contact; ability to develop and coordinate events and program materials; good data analysis skills; ability to give presentations to City Council, local organizations, and community groups; good writing and speaking skills; ability to work both independently and in a close team relationship as needed; and ability to prioritize and simultaneously manage multiple programs and activities. Solid Waste and Recycling:

• Develop and implement program materials and procedures for compliance with legislative requirements pertaining to SB 1383, AB 939, and other recycling, waste reduction, and integrated waste management regulations.
• Conduct inspections and enforcement measures for compliance with waste diversion and food recovery programs.
• Assist with administrating the construction and demolition recycling program and coordinating with City departments for project compliance.
• Coordinate with the City’s franchise hauler to provide outreach and education.

QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain these abilities would be:

Education:

Completion of two (2) years of college with major coursework in business, physical science, public administration, environmental studies, or a closely related field.

Experience:

One (1) year of experience developing, promoting, or coordinating environmental, conservation or public outreach programs.

License or Certificate:

Required upon hire, possession of a valid California Driver's License.      

Knowledge of a second language is highly desirable.

• A Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Recreation Administration, or related field may substitute for two years of experience.

About the Position: The Fleet Services Specialist will oversee the full cycle of our vehicle and equipment fleet, from budgeting and acquisition to maintenance, compliance, and replacement.  This position plays a critical role in ensuring safe, reliable, and sustainable fleet operations by managing contracts, developing specifications, coordinating repairs, and leading asset management strategies.  The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in fleet and equipment maintenance, proven experience with budgeting and program administration, skilled at ensuring regulatory compliance, and the ability to evaluate fleet needs and recommend cost effective solutions.

Education & Experience:

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Equivalent to an associate degree in fleet management, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field and four (4) years of full-time experience in administration of a fleet or equipment maintenance program or facility, including at least one year at a lead or supervisory level.

Work Environment:  This full time position is part of the Facilities & Fleet Department at Midpen’s Administrative Office in Los Altos, California. Midpen offers a hybrid office/telecommute work schedule for this position following successful onboarding, and may be eligible for a 9/80 schedule.  To meet service needs, three days of working on-site is required per week – set days are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in the office. The Fleet Services Specialist will often meet with Midpen staff in the district field offices.  Employees may work in the field and occasionally be exposed to loud noise levels, cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, or road hazards. Must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

VTA's Technology Department is seeking an enthusiastic, team-player and customer-focused Senior Information Systems Analyst to join our team! This individual will provide Tier-3 technical assistance and leadership in helping establish a robust IT asset management and ticketing system to streamline the daily operations of a dynamic IT department.

What You’ll Be Doing
Definition
Under direction, the Senior Information Systems Analyst leads and participates in the work of staff responsible for providing technical and analytical support to VTA computer information systems and computer servers.

Distinguishing Characteristics
This is the advanced journey level in the Information Systems Analyst series.  Positions at this level are distinguished from other classes within the series by the level of responsibility assumed and the complexity of duties assigned. The Senior Information Systems Analyst performs project lead functions including assigning work, delegating assignments, and reviewing the work of others and keeping the supervisor updated.

Incumbents at this level perform the most difficult and responsible types of duties assigned to classes within this series including serving as a project lead over staff responsible for maintaining VTA's computer information systems and computer servers, researching and recommending new hardware and software components, and providing related support to the users.  Incumbents at this level are fully trained in all procedures related to assigned area of responsibility.

This class is distinguished from the higher-level classifications of Information Systems Supervisor and Technology Infrastructure Supervisor in that the supervisory classifications are responsible for full supervisory activities over a major section in the Technology Department.
 

Minimum Qualifications
Employment Standards
Sufficient training, education, and experience maintaining computer information systems and computer servers to demonstrate possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Development of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is typically obtained through a combination of training and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a four-year degree in computer science or a related field, and four (4) years of responsible experience performing technical and analytical tasks in support of computer information systems and computer servers. (Additional applicable experience with technical and analytical tasks in support of computer information systems and computer servers substitutes for college on a year for year basis.)

 

Knowledge of:

• Operational characteristics of computer information systems and computer servers;
• Methods and techniques for troubleshooting a variety of information systems operations and maintenance problems and concerns;
• Principles and practices of maintaining information systems including thin client or virtual desk top solutions;
• Computer system security and information systems security practices;
• Techniques and methods of installing computer hardware and software;
• Advanced support of client software (MS – Office, Adobe products, email, and /or browsers, etc.);
• Advanced support and troubleshooting of personal computers, laptops, printers, monitors, AV equipment, multifunctional devices, and related peripheral equipment;
