The City of Chowchilla is seeking a Water System Worker I to assist in the operation and maintenance of the City’s water distribution system, including pumps, mains, chlorinators, meters, and other equipment; and perform related work as required on an assigned shift, under the general supervision of the Utilities Systems Supervisor and/or Director of Public Works.

THE DEPARTMENT

The Information Systems and Technology Division is responsible for the City's network infrastructure, cybersecurity, Help Desk support, and daily IT operations. The division supports a full-service city that includes City Administration, Police, Fire, Planning, Public Works, Parks, Beaches, and Recreation departments.

DEFINITION

Under general supervision, perform a variety of routine and complex duties in support of City-wide information systems, security, and technology operations. Perform systems administration, troubleshoot problems, and ensure data integrity; trains and assists end users in using new applications and systems.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is a professional level position that requires significant administrative, analytical, and technical skills. This position serves as a technical leader, providing complex analytical support.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED/ EXERCISED

Receive general supervision from higher-level management. May provide direction to support staff and oversee part-time staff and/or volunteers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

• Install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and monitor physical and virtual network and server infrastructure including hardware, software, real-time monitoring tools, peripherals, and devices ensuring effective performance and proper integration of components and systems with existing architecture; assist in infrastructure changes and upgrades to limit interrupted services.
• Administer automated deployment of software and updates over the network.
• Monitor and maintain security control of City network and server infrastructure; configure and monitor security features and firewall rules; verify and ensure proper user accessibility; identify and address vulnerabilities; research, recommend, and apply security updates as needed.
• Monitor disaster recovery and backup processes and schedules; verify that backups are successful and data can be recovered.

• Install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and monitor City-wide telecommunications systems including voice and data communications infrastructure and equipment; set up and maintain user accounts, access groups, extensions, and voicemail boxes; troubleshoot system-wide outages.
• Work on systems and infrastructure conversion, installation, and maintenance projects, including planning, organizing, and defining project requirements, methods, and end objectives in consultation with end users; coordinate project activities with IT Manager and IT staff, end users, and vendors.
• Maintain information on scheduled systems maintenance, including upgrades and outages.
• Respond to and resolve users’ inquiries and complaints and escalate problems or issues to
•  vendor representatives as needed.
• Stay abreast of new trends and innovations in technology related to systems, network, server, and telecommunications; research, recommend, and evaluate vendor solutions and technologies; implement improvements upon approval.

• Serve as a Disaster Service Worker, as required.

The City of Stockton seeks to fill an Information Technology Supervisor position with primary responsibilities around Enterprise Applications. This position will be primarily responsible for maintaining enterprise applications, GIS applications, data integrations, budgeting,  and managing assigned staff within the Information Technology Department.  This Information Technology Supervisor is accountable for the leadership, facilitation, analysis, and design tasks required to ensure that assigned information systems at the City are evolving to providing value to the departments in a secure and cost-efficient way.

The incumbent will be responsible for developing strong plans and roadmaps on how the application portfolio meets the business needs in an efficient, cost-effective, resource-balanced and secure way to gain executive support and buy-in. Furthermore, the incumbent will be accountable for executing the roadmap to ensure the application portfolio provides value, meets cyber security standards, and is vendor supported.

The incumbent must be proficient in creating the documentation of current and future state, roadmaps, and transition plans that support application initiatives. It will be essential to keep up with the technology industry and market trends to determine their potential impact on the application portfolio. Knowledge and experience in both on-premise and cloud technology are paramount.  A strong understanding of how to apply modern cyber security principles to secure on-prem and cloud applications and associated data assets are the foundation of every deployment.

The incumbent will work closely with other supervisors and leaders in the IT department to coordinate activities to ensure software applications, hardware, virtualization, cloud deployment, and cyber tool deployments are successful and execution follows established methodical processes.

Information Technology Supervisors work a City of Stockton 9/80 schedule: 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with alternating Fridays off. May be required to work additional hours and/or weekends to provide critical support to key initiatives.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Library and Recreation Department is comprised of two divisions, Library and Recreation & Childcare, that are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of San Rafael residents. The Department’s mission is to enrich the community through discovery, learning, and play, and strives to maximize the delivery of strategically aligned programs and services to provide the highest value for the community.

The current vacancy is at our San Rafael Community Center and Albert Field, which is located in downtown San Rafael and hosts a wide variety of events, programs, and activities.  The community center is a multi-use facility to accommodate groups of all ages, from tiny tots to older adults.  Individuals, groups, or organizations are welcome to rent any part of the facility for meetings, weddings, seminars, banquets, fundraisers or any other events.  The center includes an auditorium/theatre, kitchen, lobby, lounge, and four multi-purpose meeting and activity rooms - three of which can be combined to create a single larger room.  

THE POSITION

The Custodian position will primarily support the Recreation & Childcare Division.  The Division includes three community centers, five children's centers, one cultural center, an aquatics center, two community gardens, three ball fields, a multi-use  turf field, three community parks, 11 neighborhood parks, six pocket parks, and five special use parks.  The Recreation Division is responsible for developing innovative, diverse, and community-centered programs and services at the City's park and recreation facilities.
