ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department is looking for enthusiastic high school students to train and work within our After School Sports Program as a flag football, volleyball, or basketball official. On game days, youth referees will be partnered with experienced officials that will provide training and mentorship. Youth officials will typically work two days a week. Game days and times are Monday through Thursday, from 3:45pm-7pm.

Official’s shirt, whistle, and training resources are provided. All training is provided by the Silicon Valley Sports Officials Association. Training dates will vary based on sport and season and will include classroom and hands-on instruction.

Flag Football and Volleyball Training Season - APPLICATIONS DUE BY AUGUST 1

• Training - Mid-August – September
• League games begin the last week of September – second week of November

Basketball Training Season - APPLICATIONS DUE BY SEPTEMBER 15

• Training - Mid-September - November
• League Games begin the first week of December – third week of March

Typical duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Attendance at all training sessions
• Knowledgeable of the rules and regulations of assigned sport program.
• Officiate After School Sports scrimmages and games.
• Exercise sound judgment in addressing behavior problems.
• Establish and maintain a respectful and courteous working relationship with coaches, participants, and parents contacted in the course of work.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department is looking for enthusiastic people to work within our After School Sports and Mobile Recreation programs operated out of Red Morton Community Center. The hours of this position could be Monday through Friday, from 3:30pm-8:30pm during the school year, but nighttime and weekend hours will be mandatory depending on special events and program needs. During the spring and summer, duties will include, but are not limited to, serving as an assistant coach within our Junior Dribblers basketball program and assisting with mobile recreation activities at various parks and school sites. This position will work under the gym/field supervisor and report directly to the After School Sports Coordinator.

Typical duties may include, but are not limited to the following: work as a field attendant in our flag football leagues; work as a scorekeeper in our volleyball and basketball leagues; possess a firm understanding of league rules and policies; ensure that games and practices operated in a safe, inclusive environment; report any issues immediately to gym/ field supervisor and/or After School Sports Coordinator; address all parent and coaches in a professional manner; maintain and care for all sports and mobile rec equipment; follow departmental and city-wide rules and regulations as they relate to the supervision of sports program and general work procedures; assist with other programs within the Parks & Recreation Department, including but not limited to, facilities, special events, and other youth programs.

ABOUT THE POSITION

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department invites you to apply for the casual position of Building Attendant. This position requires weekday and weekend shifts and may include both daytime and evening hours. A person in this classification will work flexibly, up to 20 hours per week. Hours and locations will vary across multiple community centers, and Building Attendants will be required to open and/or close the facility as needed.

Typical duties include, but are not limited to: provide excellent customer service to youth, teens, adults, and seniors; oversee the use of the facility insuring that patrons conform to established City and building rental policies and procedures; perform classroom and multi- purpose room set-up and breakdowns for classes, meetings, and building rentals; perform front desk customer service functions; perform minor clean-up as needed including, cleaning bathrooms, floors, windows, counter tops, and emptying garbage; lock and unlock doors; secure building; set up supplies and equipment as dictated by program needs; and perform related duties as assigned.

Under direction of the Chief Building/Fire Code Official, performs complex residential and commercial inspections of buildings and structures in various stages of construction, alteration and repair for compliance with applicable building, accessibility, energy and zoning codes and ordinances; responds to inquiries from the public, applicants, contractors and other City staff and departments; performs related duties as required.

Under general supervision of the Chief Building/Fire Code Official or designee, performs complex and detailed inspections of structures for conformance to codes, ordinances, approved plans, calculations and specifications; reads and interprets construction drawings and specifications for compliance with codes, ordinances, energy and disabled access requirements; conducts investigations of suspected violations of the Municipal and Building codes, including code enforcement; may assist in training other Building Inspectors and providing direction to other technical and/or clerical staff, including temporary; employees. The City of Redwood City Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department invites you to apply for the casual position of Human Services Assistant at the Fair Oaks Community Center (FOCC). FOCC is a multi-service agency that offers a variety of programs and services provided by City staff and non-profit and public agency partners. This position provides a variety of administrative and operational support functions while also providing customer service to customers of all ages and backgrounds. In particular, the Human Services Assistant will support the Information and Referral/Emergency Services Program that provides vital safety net, homelessness intervention, and homelessness prevention services to low-income families, single parents, seniors, disabled persons, persons experiencing homelessness, and individuals seeking assistance in meeting their basic needs and strengthening their economic self-sufficiency.
