Under the general direction from the Recreation Supervisor, the Recreation Specialist – Camp is responsible for assisting the Recreation Supervisor to oversee the department’s Mill Valley Camp summer program and ensure the smooth operation of programming for Preschool to 6th Grade camp programs on-site. This position requires a high level of customer service, attention to detail, management of approximately 20-25 part-time staff, and evaluation and oversight of programs. 

The ideal candidate will have significant experience working in camp programs in a fast-paced and dynamic setting. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in early childhood education, recreation, or a related field with a minimum of two years of experience in delivering kindergarten, elementary and/or youth programming, etc. is preferred. 

Must be 18 years of age or older to apply for this position. This position requires a commitment through August 7, 2026.  

DEFINITION: Communicate with participants, part-time staff, and parents, coordinate camp schedules, plan and organize camp daily activities, program registrations, and overall program needs for the Preschool-6th grade Camp Thrill Valley programs. Hours are approximately 40 hours per week (Monday-Friday) while camp is in session from June 15 - August 7, 2026 and approximately 20-25 hours per week in preparation for the start of camp. Ideal start date is April 1, 2026. 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Facilitates camp activities for ages 18 months to 12 years old. 

• Organizes, implements, directs, supervises and/or promotes specific programs and activities. 

• Participates in the preparation and administration of assigned camp budgets. 

• Communicates clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. 

• Demonstrate excellent customer service and communicate effectively with staff, parents, and children. 

• Monitors the day-to-day operations of the camps, including assisting in administrative paperwork (health forms, swim lesson schedules), check-in and check-out of participants, setting up outdoor equipment, handling and resolving complaints not requiring the attention of a supervisor and ensuring that programs and events have required materials, staff, and supplies. 

• Assists in the evaluation of programming including conducting customer satisfaction surveys and analyzing reports on program effectiveness.

• Accurately maintain attendance records.

Position Summary

This position demands a wide range of technical skills. Under the direction of the Communications Electronics Supervisor, this position provides technical support for the communications, access control, video and electronics control system in place throughout the District. The Communications Electronics Technician installs, maintains, test and repairs electronics communications system located at various District facilities from San Francisco to Santa Rosa. These include, but is not limited to, P25 trunked radio system, microwave equipment, video cameras and management system, access control system, programmable logic controllers, fiber optics and network communications equipment. The position is also involved in the installation and maintenance of communication and fiber optic cabling systems. 

Essential Responsibilities

• Installs and maintains the following: P25 trunked radio system, access control system, video management system, programmable logic controllers and associated controls, microwave equipment, public address systems, telephone lines and fiber optic cables
• Installs, tests, and maintains electronic and two-way radio equipment in Buses, Ferries, District vehicles and facilities, and radio sites
• Setups and services access control system, including card readers, electromechanical locks, gate controllers and associated software
• Installs and maintains video surveillance system, including cameras, servers and management software
• Installs and maintains different computer aided equipment such as radio dispatch consoles, access control monitoring, video management system, & distributed control system for PLC
• Tests, troubleshoots and repairs fiber optic using OTDR and splice equipment
• Installs, configures and maintains servers, database and network equipment such as routers and switches
• Performs regular, preventive maintenance and documents system and equipment repairs, modifications and changes
• Assists in the design, fabrication and modification of electronics communications equipment
• Updates and corrects manufacturers' documentation to increase maintenance and repair efficiency
• Knows and follows the safety and health rules and safe working practices applicable job
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with District employees, customers, vendors and all others contacted during the course of work using principles of excellent customer service.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

QUALIFICATIONS

Aquatics staff generally work 3–5 hours per day and average 15–20 hours per week, with a maximum of up to 37.5 hours. Shifts can take place in the morning, afternoon, or evening at either San Ramon Valley High School or Monte Vista. Staff schedules and locations are coordinated based on program needs, so assignments may vary throughout the season.

SUPERVISION 
Under the general supervision of the Pool Managers, Program Coordinator and Program Supervisor, the Swim Instructor/Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring aquatic safety and providing instruction for pool patrons.  Swim Instructors/Lifeguards must enjoy working with children and the general public, be patient, reliable and have lots of energy.  

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES 
Job duties include lifeguarding, swim lesson instruction, leading pool programming, mandatory staff training, pulling tarps, required daily fitness, and administrative duties. Weekend shifts may be available on a case-by-case bases depending upon programmatic needs. 

  Also:

Plan, direct, and coordinate, through subordinate level staff, the Public Works Department’s work plan; assign projects and programmatic areas of responsibility; review and evaluate work methods and procedures; conduct field inspections of work-in-progress and completed projects; ensure the maintenance of safe working conditions and good housekeeping practices; meet with key staff to identify and resolve problems. 5. Select, train, motivate, and evaluate assigned personnel; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures. 6. Direct and review the work of contract consultants providing assistance to staff. 7. Oversee and participate in the development and administration of the department budget; approve the forecast of funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; approve expenditures and implement budgetary adjustments as appropriate and necessary. 8. Keep informed of the status and availability of necessary tools, equipment, and material to ensure availability in advance of need; ensure that material and equipment are properly stored, protected, and maintained; initiate purchases of equipment and supplies required for the Department; coordinate and approve purchasing, bidding, and project cost estimation. 9. Provide staff assistance to the City Manager; prepare and present staff reports and other necessary correspondence. 10. Research and prepare technical and administrative reports and studies; prepare written correspondence as necessary; provide periodic reports on department activities. 11. Represent the Public Works Department to other departments, elected officials, and outside agencies; coordinate assigned activities with those of other departments and outside agencies and organizations. 12. Explain, justify, and defend department programs, policies, and activities; negotiate and resolve sensitive and controversial issues. 13. Participate on a variety of boards, commissions, and committees including City Council meetings. 14. Attend and participate in professional group meetings; maintain awareness of new trends and developments in the fields related to the operation and maintenance of the City’s infrastructure; incorporate new developments as appropriate. 15. Respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive citizen inquiries and complaints. 16. Perform related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of: Operations, services, and activities of a comprehensive public works operations and maintenance program. Education and Experience Guidelines - Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education/Training: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business administration, public administration, construction management, engineering, or a related field.

Experience: Eight years of increasingly responsible experience in public sector construction management, public works maintenance management, or related activity including three years of management and administrative responsibility in a municipal setting. License or Certificate: Possession of an appropriate, valid driver’s license.

SUPERVISION 
Under the general supervision of the Program Coordinator and direct supervision of the Summer Camp Site Leader, Summer Camp Counselors are responsible for implementing the curriculum for one of the Town’s day camp programs which offer youth and teen daily activities including arts, crafts, games, field trips and special events.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

• Serve as a mentor and role model to campers. 
• Work as part of a team of leaders.

Under the general supervision of the Program Coordinator, Summer Camp Site Leaders are responsible for the day to day operations and implementation of curriculum of their assigned summer day camp, which offer youth and teens daily activities including arts, crafts, games, field trips and special events.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES 

• Plan and leads arts, crafts and games according to the theme of the week.
• Serve as a mentor and role model to campers.
• Work as part of a team of camp leaders. 
• Safely and appropriately supervise campers on off-site field trips.

PROGRAM ASSISTANT (SUMMER CAMP SITE MANAGER)

Applicants must be high school graduates and have experience working with youth in a recreation setting.  Energetic, self-motivated, creative, and organized.  Able to work as part of a team.  This is a Monday through Friday, 20 to 37.5-hour position that requires open availability.   

SUPERVISION 
Under the general supervision of the Program Coordinator, the Summer Camp Site Manager is responsible for on-site supervision of staff and participants of multiple camps located at the same site.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES  

• Serve as a mentor and role model to campers.
• Work as part of a team of camp leaders.
• Safely and appropriately supervise campers on off-site field trips.
• Use positive discipline and communicate effectively with parents/guardians.
• Coordinate camp activity rotation schedule and site logistics to ensure efficient operations.
