Tri-City is now accepting applications for a Senior Behavioral Health Specialist position within our Adult Full Service Partnership (FSP) Program. This position will provide a variety of rehabilitative support services to clients to facilitate behavior modification, skill building, and self-care and safety in individual and/or group settings.  This position will report to the Clinical Supervisor.

Essential duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Provide skilled assistance and training to other Behavioral Health Specialists in direct service organization, client care, and other Behavioral Health Specialist duties.
   
• Evaluate the needs of participants experiencing behavioral health challenges; plan, develop, and implement individual and group rehabilitation activities under the guidance of licensed professional staff; as assigned, be responsible for developing and implementing specific rehabilitation group activities.
   
• Participate in staff conferences with other disciplines to link clients with housing, providers,
  outside agencies, organizations, or departments as appropriate. Perform as client’s primary
  case manager.
   
• Perform crisis intervention counseling at a level not requiring licensure as a Behavioral health
  professional; and assist professional staff in planning the range of care needed to deal with
  participant’s care.
   
• Develop and determine appropriate referrals for the continuation of care.

Basic Requirements: Current enrollment in an associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree program, or trade school in a relevant field or a recent graduate (within the last 12 months). Must have completed a minimum of two years of college course work. The internship requires strong organizational and analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and with a team. Requires a high degree of confidentiality, ensuring sensitive information is handled with the utmost discretion. The ideal candidate will be agile in responding to changing priorities, and capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently. Experience with modern office procedures, methods and computer software and hardware (i.e. Windows & Microsoft Office Suite; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Experience working a professional office environment is a plus.

Schedule: This position will work on-site and report to the HR department at Midpen offices in Los Altos, California, and will work under the guidance of HR staff.  This is a part-time non-benefited position, working approximately 20 hours per week (school schedules can be accommodated within regular business days and hours).  Regular business is conducted Monday through Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm. Interns may work up to a total of 950 hours over a 6-to-9-month period.

This employment opportunity is excellent for a well-organized “people person” seeking some summer work experience and getting exposure to government and specifically to work in the Community Development Department.

The primary responsibility of this position is to help with document scanning, managing mail outs, answering phones, data entry and document preparation. The position will also be able to shadow planners and building staff on counter duties, attend meetings, and assist staff on planning projects as schedule permits.

This summer intern position is a non-benefited casual position. This casual position work schedule will vary (as needed) between 15-20 hours per week and will be in-person on three days between Monday-Thursday. The position start and end date are flexible based on applicant’s needs but generally anticipated to last a maximum of 10 weeks.

Summary:
Under supervision, performs routine semi-skilled to skilled grounds landscaping and maintenance work; performs preventive maintenance of District properties; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. These duties may be performed independently or under supervision with a Lead or Groundskeeper II present. • Performs a variety of routine landscape and ground maintenance tasks, including maintaining areas around District facilities, hardscapes and playgrounds, and removing debris and graffiti; maintains assigned areas in a clean, safe and orderly condition.
• Maintains turf and landscaped areas by mowing, edging and weeding; learns and assists with fertilizing, spraying with insecticides and herbicides, aerating and watering.
• Blows, sweeps and washes sidewalks, roadways, parking lots, tennis courts, and other hard­scapes to maintain a clean, safe and orderly condition.
• Assists with planting and removing trees, shrubs and plants; prunes shrubs and trees to shape and encourage growth, using hand and power saws as assigned.
• Assists with the installation, repair and maintenance of irrigation systems.
• Assists with athletic field preparation and the maintenance of play areas and related facilities.
• Operates a variety of power tools, hand tools and motor-driven equipment such as trucks and tractors.
• Loads and unloads equipment, supplies and refuse.
• Maintains daily work records, hazardous materials records and restricted pesticide-use records.
• Attends meetings; participates in safety training.
• Weekend work and rotating schedules may be required.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• Participates during disasters or when emergency response is needed.
• May be required to drive District or personal vehicle.
• Non-exempt employees may be required to work overtime.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skill, and/or ability listed below is qualifying.

Education/Experience:
A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: graduation from high school or GED equivalent, and one year of related grounds maintenance experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:
Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to park visitors and to other employees.

Math Ability:
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of money and weight measure­ment, volume and distance.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to use common-sense understanding to carry out instructions provided in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates and Licenses:

• Valid California driver’s license with a good driving record and current automobile insurance.
• All full-time candidates require satisfactory completion of a pre-employment functional capacity examination.
• Department of Justice fingerprint clearance.

Other Required Skills:

• Use of word processing and spreadsheet programs

Supervisory Responsibilities:
